When Gu Huaiye woke up at noon the next day, he was in so much pain that his face twisted in agony. Even sitting up in bed was a strenuous effort, requiring a long time to recover.

Xie Miaohan called out from the kitchen several times before having to return to the living room. He stood in front of Gu Huaiye, looking down at him.

“What’s wrong?” Xie Miaohan asked with concern in his eyes. “Why aren’t you speaking?”

Gu Huaiye snapped out of it. “What did you say just now?”

“I asked if you wanted to eat French beef stew tonight?”

“Sure.” Gu Huaiye nodded. “Let’s eat that. Will it be troublesome to make?”

“No,” Xie Miaohan said. “Then I’ll go prepare it.”

“I’ll help you.”

As soon as Gu Huaiye got up, his brow furrowed again. His movements became gentle and slow as he walked into the kitchen.

Just as he was about to roll up his sleeves, a thought suddenly struck him. He deliberately pulled down his collar, revealing the shoulder marked with bites.

While helping Xie Miaohan wash vegetables, he observed Xie Miaohan’s face.

Xie Miaohan kept his head down handling the beef and didn’t look at him.

Gu Huaiye had to call him. “Miaomiao, my sleeve is about to fall down. Fold it up for me.”

Xie Miaohan gave a sound of assent and came over to fold his sleeves.

Xie Miaohan bit his lip and nodded slightly.

“Yes.”

Gu Huaiye smiled. “Wifey is so obedient.”

Xie Miaohan stood up and cleared the bowls and chopsticks from the table. “I’m not joking with you anymore; you only know how to bully me.”

Gu Huaiye laughed, suddenly remembering the revenge he planned for today. He raised his hand and slapped Xie Miaohan’s butt firmly, making quite a loud sound.

Xie Miaohan’s body trembled. He turned his head in astonishment, meeting Gu Huaiye’s wicked grin, and sighed helplessly.

He didn’t hold it against Gu Huaiye and continued clearing the table.

Seeing Xie Miaohan act so normally, Gu Huaiye felt the revenge wasn’t satisfying enough.

He immediately got up and went to the kitchen to find Xie Miaohan.

Hearing footsteps, Xie Miaohan said grumpily, “Huaiye, wait until I finish washing the dishes, then I’ll let you bully me.”

Gu Huaiye didn’t take his words seriously at all. After walking in, he slipped his hands inside Xie Miaohan’s clothes.

Xie Miaohan let out a soft hum, his body trembling slightly, the plate in his hand becoming unsteady.

Gu Huaiye kissed Xie Miaohan’s ear, then bit it vengefully.

“Miaomiao, you have to wash the dishes clean to be a good wife, you know.”
