Chapter 176: A Wife’s Duty
When Gu Huaiye woke up at noon the next day, he was in so much pain that his face twisted in agony. Even sitting up in bed was a strenuous effort, requiring a long time to recover.
“Damn it! Damn Miaomiao! He has no sense of restraint at all!”
But fortunately, no matter how rough Xie Miaohan was, he was still better than the old Gu Huaiye—at least he didn’t make him bleed.
Gu Huaiye climbed out of bed gingerly and limped into the bathroom.
When he saw himself in the mirror, he sucked in a cold breath.
Oh my god. His neck was covered in hickeys. How was he supposed to go out and see people like this?
Even if there really was a split personality, this so-called “Xiaohan” needed to appear a little less often. Otherwise, his body wouldn’t be able to withstand this kind of torment.
Gu Huaiye brushed his teeth, wanting to cry but unable to shed a tear. Suddenly feeling a surge of anger, he shouted towards the outside.
“Xie Miaohan, get over here!”
Ten minutes passed, and there was no response from inside the house.
Gu Huaiye paused, feeling both angry and amused, then turned back to continue brushing his teeth.
What incredible stamina!
He had gone at it with him until dawn, yet could still leave so early for work.
It really lived up to what Xie Miaohan had said in his first life: if Xie Miaohan were the one doing him, his stamina would definitely be better.
Tsk. Thinking back on it now, why did he feel like he had been provoked?
How about he does him back, to see whose stamina is actually better?
Of course, this thought vanished in an instant.
Gu Huaiye had lived several lifetimes, after all. in terms of actual age, he was already a decrepit old man over a hundred years old; he wouldn’t be so childish as to compete over this.
He was just a tiny bit unconvinced, that’s all.
After brushing his teeth, Gu Huaiye walked into the living room and found that Xie Miaohan had already prepared breakfast for him. It was sandwiches—food that could be eaten cold or hot.
He was just about to sit down when his expression suddenly changed. He immediately stood back up, choosing to eat his brunch standing.
When Xie Miaohan came back, he would definitely get revenge!
Throughout the entire day, Gu Huaiye either stood or lay on his stomach on the bed or sofa.
Because of this, his resentment towards Xie Miaohan grew larger and larger, and he secretly vowed that he had to punish him back.
By evening, he finally heard the sound of the lock turning.
Gu Huaiye couldn’t be bothered to get up to welcome Xie Miaohan. He just lifted his head, staring at the entryway full of resentment.
When Xie Miaohan entered and met Gu Huaiye’s gaze, his expression faltered slightly.
“Huaiye, why are you lying on the sofa?” Xie Miaohan turned on all the lights in the room, looking puzzled. “Why didn’t you turn on the lights?”
Gu Huaiye looked equally puzzled.
Since he called him “Huaiye,” did that mean “Xiaohan” had left?
“Huaiye, I bought some groceries downstairs. How about French beef stew tonight?”
Gu Huaiye was still thinking about the “Xiaohan” matter and didn’t hear Xie Miaohan’s words.
Xie Miaohan called out from the kitchen several times before having to return to the living room. He stood in front of Gu Huaiye, looking down at him.
“What’s wrong?” Xie Miaohan asked with concern in his eyes. “Why aren’t you speaking?”
Gu Huaiye snapped out of it. “What did you say just now?”
“I asked if you wanted to eat French beef stew tonight?”
“Sure.” Gu Huaiye nodded. “Let’s eat that. Will it be troublesome to make?”
“No,” Xie Miaohan said. “Then I’ll go prepare it.”
“I’ll help you.”
As soon as Gu Huaiye got up, his brow furrowed again. His movements became gentle and slow as he walked into the kitchen.
Just as he was about to roll up his sleeves, a thought suddenly struck him. He deliberately pulled down his collar, revealing the shoulder marked with bites.
While helping Xie Miaohan wash vegetables, he observed Xie Miaohan’s face.
Xie Miaohan kept his head down handling the beef and didn’t look at him.
Gu Huaiye had to call him. “Miaomiao, my sleeve is about to fall down. Fold it up for me.”
Xie Miaohan gave a sound of assent and came over to fold his sleeves.
Gu Huaiye watched Xie Miaohan’s expression intently, his frown deepening.
It really isn’t a split personality.
He clearly noticed that when Xie Miaohan saw the wound on his shoulder, he simply looked away with guilt in his eyes.
And with so many hickeys, he didn’t mention a single word.
Either “Xiaohan” was still there, or a split personality didn’t exist at all.
Gu Huaiye had only eaten the breakfast Xie Miaohan made before leaving, so his stomach was already starving.
He ate three bowls of rice in one go. Rubbing his slightly bulging belly, a look of satisfaction appeared on his face.
“So delicious.” Gu Huaiye smiled at Xie Miaohan. “Wifey’s cooking is just the best.”
Xie Miaohan’s ears turned red, and he glared at him shyly. “Smooth talker.”
Gu Huaiye particularly loved watching Xie Miaohan blush, especially when that cold, aloof face showed a shy expression—it was incredibly exciting.
“So, are you my wifey or not?” Gu Huaiye teased him deliberately.
Xie Miaohan bit his lip and nodded slightly.
“Yes.”
Gu Huaiye smiled. “Wifey is so obedient.”
Xie Miaohan stood up and cleared the bowls and chopsticks from the table. “I’m not joking with you anymore; you only know how to bully me.”
Gu Huaiye laughed, suddenly remembering the revenge he planned for today. He raised his hand and slapped Xie Miaohan’s butt firmly, making quite a loud sound.
Xie Miaohan’s body trembled. He turned his head in astonishment, meeting Gu Huaiye’s wicked grin, and sighed helplessly.
He didn’t hold it against Gu Huaiye and continued clearing the table.
Seeing Xie Miaohan act so normally, Gu Huaiye felt the revenge wasn’t satisfying enough.
He immediately got up and went to the kitchen to find Xie Miaohan.
Hearing footsteps, Xie Miaohan said grumpily, “Huaiye, wait until I finish washing the dishes, then I’ll let you bully me.”
Gu Huaiye didn’t take his words seriously at all. After walking in, he slipped his hands inside Xie Miaohan’s clothes.
Xie Miaohan let out a soft hum, his body trembling slightly, the plate in his hand becoming unsteady.
Gu Huaiye kissed Xie Miaohan’s ear, then bit it vengefully.
“Miaomiao, you have to wash the dishes clean to be a good wife, you know.”
“Huaiye…” Xie Miaohan’s breathing became heavy as he spoke intermittently, “Go out first. Wait for me to finish the dishes, then we can do this.”
“No!” Gu Huaiye kissed the back of Xie Miaohan’s neck, biting it occasionally. “Satisfying your husband is also your duty as a wife.”
Alphas couldn’t mark each other, but it wasn’t all bad; they could bite each other’s glands.
Xie Miaohan finished washing the dishes with difficulty. A chore that should have taken ten minutes dragged on for over half an hour.
As soon as the tap was turned off, Gu Huaiye turned to run away. But he hadn’t taken a few steps before Xie Miaohan picked him up and placed him on the table.
Xie Miaohan crouched down and smiled at Gu Huaiye.
“Brother, how was my performance?”
“Am I the satisfactory wife you had in mind?”b
