Chapter 177: Am I So Unreasonable?
“You are…” Gu Huaiye froze, asking uncertainly, “Xiaohan?”
Xie Miaohan’s expression instantly turned cold. He stared at Gu Huaiye with a faint, ambiguous smile. “What kind of expression is that, Brother? Are you that unwilling for me to appear?”
Seeing the situation go south, Gu Huaiye quickly wrapped his arms around Xie Miaohan’s neck. “Not at all, I’m just trying hard to tell you two apart.”
These words still didn’t soothe Xie Miaohan. He gritted his teeth and said, “Why do you need to tell us apart? Is it so you can give us different amounts of love?”
Gu Huaiye almost laughed out of anger.
Leaving aside whether it was a split personality or not, they were clearly the same person. Why did he insist on being jealous of himself, making it seem like Gu Huaiye was unfaithful?
“Xiaohan, when did you appear?” Gu Huaiye tried to change the subject. “Was that you just now, or Miaomiao?”
Sure enough, Xie Miaohan didn’t persist with the previous question. He tilted his head, revealing a bewitching smile.
“So, did Brother like my performance or not?” Xie Miaohan took Gu Huaiye’s hand, slipped it inside his own clothes, and narrowed his eyes. “But I really felt comfortable. It’s just that Brother is too mean, insisting I finish the housework before touching you.”
At the mention of this, Gu Huaiye instantly got angry.
Ignoring the split personality issue, he pulled a long face and glared at Xie Miaohan. “You still dare to speak? Last night I said ‘until dawn,’ and you actually persisted until dawn? Do you know it’s really uncomfortable? It’s a struggle just to get out of bed.”
Xie Miaohan’s expression became innocent. “I just wanted to prove myself in front of Brother. You favor him so much; if I couldn’t even do this well, wouldn’t you wish for me to disappear even more?”
Gu Huaiye rolled his eyes and said grumpily, “Don’t try to trap me. I never thought that way at all.”
Xie Miaohan curved his lips in a smile, took the hand from inside his clothes, and lowered his head to kiss Gu Huaiye’s fingers.
He kissed earnestly, his eyes revealing infatuation. It was as if he treated Gu Huaiye as the most precious treasure; every kiss that landed was filled with devotion.
Gu Huaiye’s heart rate sped up from the kisses, but they really couldn’t do it again today, or his body would definitely break.
“Good Miao…” Gu Huaiye almost forgot to correct himself again. “Good Xiaohan, stop kissing. I’m not teasing you anymore, let me off.”
Xie Miaohan bit Gu Huaiye’s fingertip, lifting his eyes to stare at Gu Huaiye’s face, which was burning red.
“Is it really that uncomfortable?”
Gu Huaiye nodded hurriedly. “It already hurts a bit.”
Xie Miaohan frowned, picked Gu Huaiye up, and walked towards their bedroom.
Gu Huaiye was startled, thinking he wanted to continue, and struggled desperately.
“Xiaohan, I really can’t. If we continue, I’ll end up in the hospital.”
Xie Miaohan paused, his tone revealing unconcealable dejection. “In your heart, am I just so unreasonable?”
Gu Huaiye was stunned for a moment. He hugged Xie Miaohan’s shoulders and kissed his ear.
“Xiaohan, I’m sorry.”
Xie Miaohan didn’t say anything more. With a grim expression, he placed Gu Huaiye on the bed, pulled down his pants, and applied ointment for him.
“I won’t touch you. Go to sleep early tonight,” Xie Miaohan said.
Gu Huaiye pulled up his pants, turned over, and cautiously observed Xie Miaohan’s face.
Sensing the other’s cold attitude, he quickly grabbed Xie Miaohan’s wrist.
“What about you? What time will you sleep?”
“I went out earlier; I need to take a shower first.”
“Xiaohan, I really didn’t blame you,” Gu Huaiye said softly. “Last night wasn’t one person’s fault; I also let you toss me around. I was just joking earlier—it was a form of flirting too.”
Xie Miaohan stared at Gu Huaiye for a long while before slowly nodding.
“I know.” Xie Miaohan kissed Gu Huaiye’s forehead. “Rest early.”
Gu Huaiye wanted to say something more, but Xie Miaohan had already tucked him in and turned off the bedroom light.
When Xie Miaohan left, Gu Huaiye sighed heavily.
He really had said the wrong thing.
He didn’t know how much time had passed when Gu Huaiye, deep in sleep, felt someone kissing the back of his neck. Realizing Xie Miaohan had returned to the room, he turned over and hugged his waist.
“Xiaohan, I’m sorry. Let’s forget today’s unpleasantness, okay?”
receiving no response from Xie Miaohan, he lifted his head and kissed Xie Miaohan’s chin.
“If it weren’t for him, would you never have loved me?”
Gu Huaiye paused, then helplessly cupped his face.
“This question is a paradox in itself. You are the same person. No matter which one it is, I don’t want him to disappear. Don’t think like this anymore. If I didn’t care about you, I wouldn’t have been thinking about seeing you even at the very last moment before death.”
Xie Miaohan sniffled and choked out, “Brother, don’t forget me, okay? Don’t forget our memories.”
Before, he had hinted at it to Gu Huaiye several times. Seeing Gu Huaiye act coldly towards that segment of memory, he had felt so uncomfortable he nearly went mad.
“I won’t forget,” Gu Huaiye coaxed him gently.
Xie Miaohan nodded, then said urgently, “Huaiye, I’m so confused right now. I don’t know which one is me.”
Hearing Xie Miaohan say this, Gu Huaiye wasn’t surprised.
Today Xie Miaohan had gone to see Xiang Wanxing. If it really were a split personality, “Xiaohan” would be clueless about business matters and would likely have aroused Xiang Wanxing’s suspicion.
Being able to chat for so long proved that the person who went to the appointment was the original Miaomiao.
However, learning it wasn’t a split personality, he also breathed a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, it wasn’t a split personality, just memory confusion.
Both were important to him; he didn’t want to see them fighting to the death just for one to remain.
“It doesn’t matter. We’ll take it slow. Don’t be in a rush to sort out these memories. Whatever identity you want to interact with me as, just use that one. Both are you, and I like both. Don’t feel burdened.”
Xie Miaohan buried his head in the crook of Gu Huaiye’s neck, slowly releasing his peppermint pheromones.
Unlike usual, tonight he seemed particularly fragile and helpless, not giving Gu Huaiye that unbearable sense of oppression.
Gu Huaiye also released his pheromones, gently wrapping around the peppermint scent in the room.
It was like comfort, and also like seduction.
Xie Miaohan kissed the bite mark on Gu Huaiye’s shoulder and asked with a trembling voice, “Does it still hurt?”
“It doesn’t hurt anymore.”
Xie Miaohan tightened his arms around Gu Huaiye’s waist. “Brother, I really love you so much.”
Gu Huaiye revealed a gentle smile. “I love Xiaohan very much too.”
