Chen Zirui had been worried that Xiang Wanxing would block his leave application. Fortunately, nothing happened; his leave was approved, and the first day just happened to be New Year’s Eve.

This made Chen Zirui ecstatic. That very night, he called Chen Xialin. First, he cried about his miserable life in the camp, then he instructed Chen Xialin not to mention anything to Gu Huaiye, as he wanted to go back and surprise him.

The day before leaving the army, Xie Miaohan returned from the front lines. He had been promoted several ranks and was no longer the rookie training alongside him.

Xie Miaohan had become an idol to many, surrounded by crowds wherever he went.

Chen Zirui used to be friends with him, but because Gu Huaiye had slept with Xie Miaohan, he had actively distanced himself.

Now that the guy had suddenly become his superior’s superior’s superior, Chen Zirui felt both envy and admiration. He watched Xie Miaohan quietly from a distance, unable to even offer a word of congratulations.

I should have stayed on good terms with him. Maybe he would have carried a rookie like me on the battlefield.

“Are you jealous?” Xiang Wanxing’s voice sounded from behind him.

Chen Zirui hid the envy in his eyes and said dismissively, “What’s there to be jealous of? I heard he took a lot of injuries. He earned that with his life.”

Xiang Wanxing hooked his lips into a smile. “Exactly. The battlefield isn’t a fun place. Go back to being your Young Master early; there’s no need to suffer this kind of hardship.”

Chen Zirui was usually easygoing and didn’t take others’ mockery to heart. But he wasn’t completely heartless, and Xiang Wanxing’s words touched a raw nerve.

That night, as he was packing his luggage to return to District A the next day, Xiang Wanxing actually came directly to his dorm to find him.

Chen Zirui was startled. He quickly dropped the clothes in his hands and dragged Xiang Wanxing out of the dorm by the hand.

“Are you crazy!” Chen Zirui looked angry. “This is the Alpha dorms. How can you just barge in like this? There are no cameras here. What if someone takes the opportunity to bully you?”

Xiang Wanxing kept a smile on his face, his voice unusually soft.

“Are you worried about me?”

Chen Zirui’s eyelashes trembled, and he threw off Xiang Wanxing’s hand.

“No way.” Chen Zirui started looking around again, his voice lacking confidence. “I just don’t want to get into trouble.”

Xiang Wanxing stared at his face, the amusement in his eyes deepening.

“Are you still mad at me?”

“I’m not mad anymore.” Chen Zirui stared at his shoes, his voice a bit muffled. “You don’t know my situation, and you didn’t say those words intentionally, so there’s no need for me to blame you. Besides, what you said was the truth. I know I have no ability. Coming to the army was probably just me running away.”

After coming here, he often couldn’t keep up with the training.

Everyone else was growing rapidly, while he remained stuck in place.

Father Chen was right; he was a waste.

Xiang Wanxing was silent for a moment before speaking slowly. “I’m just impressive on the surface, too. I have to beg my eldest brother like a dog just to go to my own home. Xiang Wanxing turned his head and met his gaze. “Pretty laughable, right?”

Chen Zirui had never imagined Xiang Wanxing’s circumstances were like this.

He thought that as the son of the richest man, with an aunt who married into the royal family, and being the only Omega in the Xiang family, Xiang Wanxing would be doted on.

Xiang Wanxing saw the pity in Chen Zirui’s eyes, and a frown of displeasure appeared on his brow.

“Don’t look at me like that. I hate it when people pity me.”

“I’m not pitying you.” Chen Zirui pouted. “Why are you telling me this?”

“I don’t know why I’m telling you either.”

Xiang Wanxing wasn’t someone who liked to expose his scars. Perhaps it was Chen Zirui’s reaction today that made him want to voice his grievances to someone for the first time.

“But you’re still better off than me.” Chen Zirui sighed. “At least you have more money than I do.”

Xiang Wanxing smiled. “That is indeed a bit better.”

This answer exceeded Chen Zirui’s expectations, so he glared at him angrily. “You should be comforting me!”

“Okay.” Xiang Wanxing corrected himself. “I really envy that you’re an Alpha. Since I was young, I viewed myself as an Alpha. The moment the differentiation results came out, I truly felt like dying.”

“Omegas are great too,” Chen Zirui paused, then muttered softly, “Anyway, I want to be an Omega.”

Xiang Wanxing didn’t catch what he said but spoke gently, “You’re not angry anymore, right?”

“I said I wasn’t angry!” Chen Zirui looked at Xiang Wanxing with a puzzled expression. “And why did you run over here to tell me this? You’re acting so weird; this isn’t your style.”

“To make sure I can continue bullying you next time, of course.” Xiang Wanxing wanted to slap Chen Zirui’s butt, but remembering he had just upset him earlier, he changed direction and pinched the back of his neck instead. “I still need you to help me resolve my heat.”

Being suddenly grabbed by the nape made Chen Zirui feel very unsafe.

Furthermore, that spot was only supposed to be touched by one’s partner. Chen Zirui quickly slapped his hand away.

“Stop touching me randomly.”

Xiang Wanxing withdrew his hand with regret. “You’re an Alpha; you’re not losing anything.”

Chen Zirui was annoyed by his words. He rolled his eyes and turned back to the dorm.

Xiang Wanxing watched him leave, only reluctantly retracting his gaze once the other’s back had disappeared.

The next morning, after Chen Zirui finished training, he returned to the locker room to change, planning to grab his luggage and head straight back to District A.

Xie Miaohan was also in the locker room. He had nothing to say to Xie Miaohan, so he simply gave him a brief nod.

At that moment, Xiang Wanxing walked in too.

Chen Zirui assumed Xiang Wanxing was there for Xie Miaohan and muttered internally that the two of them really played wild.

Just as he lifted his arms and took his shirt halfway off, that familiar sensation returned.

Chen Zirui yanked his shirt back down and turned around in exasperation.

“Xiang Wanxing! Are you f*cking done yet? Why do you keep pinching my butt? Don’t you have your own?”

Xiang Wanxing rubbed his fingers together as if savoring the feeling and smiled. “Naturally, because yours feels better. I can’t get enough.”

Chen Zirui’s face heated up instantly.

“Xie Miaohan is right here!”

“Should I ask him to leave?”

Chen Zirui: “……”

“You’re sick. I’m not doing a threesome.”

Chen Zirui decided to ignore Xiang Wanxing completely. Disregarding the other’s burning gaze, he quickly finished changing.

Once he was dressed, he heard Xiang Wanxing say, “Your body is actually pretty good, just a bit dark.”

“Whether my body is good or not has nothing to do with you.”

Chen Zirui dropped that sentence and left.

“Did you have fun?” Xiang Wanxing touched Chen Zirui’s face. “If I’d known, I wouldn’t have helped you get that leave slip. It kept me from seeing you for so long.”
