Chen Zirui put his sunglasses back on and was about to start the car to leave when he suddenly heard Father Chen’s angry voice.

“Chen Zirui, if you keep carrying on like this, don’t blame me for being heartless!” Father Chen shouted agitatedly. “I’ve already had the lawyer draft the documents. I’m transferring all the shares to Muyuan. You can go ahead and rot; I won’t give you a single cent.”

Chen Zirui turned to look at Father Chen in disbelief. It took him a long while to speak.

“You’re giving all the shares to him? Then what about Xialin?”

Father Chen was stumped by the question. He was silent for a moment, then said dismissively, “He’s an Omega; he’ll marry out sooner or later. What does he need so much money for? To give it away to someone else?”

Chen Zirui was thoroughly enraged by his words. He slammed the car door open and got out.

“Regardless of whether he marries out, he is your son! If he has no money at all, what will people think of him?”

Chen Zirui didn’t expect to get Father Chen’s assets for himself. From the moment he decided to run away, he planned to cut ties with the Chen family completely.

This guy probably used the marriage alliance to instigate Father Chen to transfer the shares.

“Just the Zhao family? What’s so great about them?” Chen Zirui pointed at himself. “I’m dating the son of the Richest Man. Do you know Xiang Wanxing? The most sought-after, most promising Omega in District B. Forget it, you bunch of frogs in a well probably wouldn’t know him even if I told you.”

As soon as these words came out, the two stared at him in shock. But less than two seconds later, they couldn’t help laughing out loud.

“You, kid, can climb up the social ladder to the Xiang family?” Father Chen sneered. “If you’re going to lie, find something believable.”

“Aren’t you curious about where this car came from?”

Chen Zirui lifted his chin, looking arrogant. “Actually, my boyfriend gave it to me. He was afraid I’d get tired walking, so he specially got a sports car for me. I told him not to buy anything too expensive, but he just wouldn’t agree. He insisted on buying a limited-edition sports car for me. There are only a few in the world.”

Chen Zirui endured the heartache and knocked his hand against the car, putting on a posture that treated money like dirt.

“Not many people can afford this car. Anyone with a brain would know just by thinking about it.”

The illegitimate son’s face turned pale. He tugged at Father Chen’s sleeve, his voice trembling slightly. “What Big Brother said… couldn’t be true, could it?”

Father Chen pursed his lips, sticking to his stubborn belief that Chen Zirui didn’t have that kind of ability.

“Impossible. This kid probably went to District B, made some friends, and secretly borrowed it to drive.”

Seeing they still didn’t believe him, Chen Zirui had to unleash his ultimate move.

“Isn’t your birthday coming up soon?” Chen Zirui raised his eyebrows arrogantly. “I’ll bring my boyfriend to meet you, to broaden your horizons. You won’t have many chances in this life to meet such a big shot; I have to fulfill your wish before you enter your coffin.”

Upon returning to the hotel, Chen Zirui’s arrogant aura vanished instantly.

He threw himself onto the bed, burying his face in the pillow.

“I’m screwed! I’m screwed! I boasted too big!”

He and Xiang Wanxing weren’t in a relationship at all. Even if he wanted to describe their intimate relationship, they were bed partners at most.

Every time Xiang Wanxing came to find him, it was to sleep with him. After topping him, he ran back to District B.

The purpose was obvious; he was only willing to send him off with money. How could he be willing to pretend to be a couple for him?

Xiang Wanxing’s second sentence wiped out more than half of the courage Chen Zirui had managed to muster.

“It’s not like I pester you to buy things every day.” Chen Zirui muttered softly, “Can’t I call you because I miss you?”

“Of course you can.” Xiang Wanxing laughed happily. “Call me ‘Husband,’ and I’ll come over to see you tomorrow immediately.”

“Husband.”

Chen Zirui answered too quickly, which finally made Xiang Wanxing sense that something was wrong.

“Did something happen?” Xiang Wanxing’s tone became serious.

Chen Zirui gave a muffled “Mhm,” then refused to speak again.

Xiang Wanxing waited for a long time. Seeing he remained silent, he started guessing himself.

“Did your dad hit you again?” Xiang Wanxing’s voice grew a few degrees colder.

“No.”

“Want to get money from me to treat your friends to a big meal?”

“No.”

Xiang Wanxing fell silent for a moment, then asked, “Did the illegitimate son give you trouble?”

Chen Zirui didn’t answer, and Xiang Wanxing understood immediately.

“Do you want my help?”

Chen Zirui responded softly, “Yes.”

“What do you need me to do?”

If it were anyone else, Xiang Wanxing would have been annoyed long ago. But every time he faced Chen Zirui, he always had the patience to guide him into speaking up.

“Tell me about it. Let me see how I can help you handle it.”

With those words from Xiang Wanxing, Chen Zirui finally dared to speak.

“I want you to pretend to be my lover for a day on my dad’s birthday.”

Xiang Wanxing was stunned, then laughed. “Just for that?”

“Yes, just that…” Chen Zirui paused, then asked in surprise, “You’re willing to help me?”

“Yeah, what’s so hard about that?”

Excited, Chen Zirui kissed the phone loudly. “Xiang Wanxing, you treat me the best!”

“Then how will you repay me?”

This question stumped Chen Zirui. After a long while, he asked cautiously, “How do you want me to repay you? Let you f*ck me a few more nights?”

Xiang Wanxing was defeated by his words, feeling both angry and amused.

“I don’t seek you out just for that kind of thing.”

“You basically do,” Chen Zirui rebutted in a whisper.

“Forget it. I won’t tell you for now. When we meet, you’ll know what kind of repayment I want.”

Because of that sentence, Chen Zirui was on tenterhooks for several days.

Until the day of Father Chen’s birthday, he finally learned what repayment Xiang Wanxing wanted.

It was marriage.
