Chapter 27: Found by You
The next day, they got up early.
The two sat at the dining table eating breakfast; neither mentioned what had happened last night.
When going out, Xie Miaohan suddenly took out a ring from his pocket.
Under Gu Huaiye’s astonished gaze, he took his hand and put the ring on his ring finger.
“Isn’t this my wedding ring?” Gu Huaiye asked in surprise. “How did you find it?”
“On the chair in the walk-in closet.”
“But why didn’t I find it that day?”
“Because I had already put it away, of course you couldn’t find it.”
Gu Huaiye: “…”
He glared at Xie Miaohan grumpily. “Why didn’t you tell me? You made me kneel on the floor looking for it for a long time that day.”
“You didn’t ask me either, and I didn’t know the thing you were looking for was a ring.”
Gu Huaiye: “…”
Returning to the Gu family villa, Gu Huaiye had mixed feelings.
He thought he had completely lost his parents’ house, but he didn’t expect Xie Miaohan to buy it back.
But his father was gone. Now to him, this villa was just a cold building without any other significance.
Stepping into the hall and seeing the familiar furniture, Gu Huaiye looked at Xie Miaohan in confusion.
Xie Miaohan understood what he wanted to ask and answered, “I bought back the same furniture according to your Gu family’s previous arrangement and restored it as much as possible.”
Gu Huaiye nodded. “Thank you.”
Xie Miaohan stared at Gu Huaiye’s side profile, unable to resist holding the other’s hand, saying calmly, “You made mistakes, and so did I. Can we call it even? Can we start over?”
Gu Huaiye withdrew his hand mercilessly.
“A broken mirror is hard to put back together. Do you understand that logic?”
Xie Miaohan lowered his head to stare at his hand, a dark look flashing through his eyes.
He curved his lips in a smile. His face seemed cold, but his eyes were filled with morbid possessiveness.
“But you can’t leave me now, and neither can I,” Xie Miaohan said. “Maybe we were wrong from the start, but there’s no turning back. We are destined to torture each other for a lifetime.”
Gu Huaiye glanced at Xie Miaohan and didn’t want to engage with him.
“I’m going to my room to rest.”
The two settled down in the villa.
To make Gu Huaiye’s stay more comfortable, Xie Miaohan specially hired three servants: one responsible for cooking and the other two for cleaning.
Of course, hiring these servants wasn’t just for work, but more for monitoring Gu Huaiye.
During the day, he had to go to the company to handle work and didn’t feel at ease leaving Gu Huaiye alone in the villa, so he had the servants watch Gu Huaiye closely and report to him in real-time.
Gu Huaiye acted like a useless person, doing nothing but eating, sleeping, or playing games every day.
Previously at Father Gu’s funeral, he had almost lost so much weight he looked skeletal. Now, being fed by Xie Miaohan, his cheeks had become much rounder, and his complexion ruddier.
In contrast, Xie Miaohan’s condition was very bad.
After the auction, Gu Huaiye never used pheromones to comfort Xie Miaohan again.
Xie Miaohan didn’t want to beg Gu Huaiye for mercy, so he injected inhibitors recklessly, nearly ending up in the hospital once.
He felt that if this continued long-term, he probably wouldn’t live long.
He wasn’t afraid of death, but before dying, he would send Gu Huaiye away first.
Gu Huaiye was spoiled and hard to care for; he definitely wouldn’t take good care of himself. He also didn’t want Gu Huaiye marking other Omegas. After thinking it over, leaving together would be best.
But this was just Xie Miaohan’s fleeting and pessimistic thought. He didn’t want to separate from Gu Huaiye so early. With technology being so advanced, there would always be a solution for his susceptibility periods.
One evening, Xie Miaohan came back from the company and saw Gu Huaiye looking out the window thoughtfully.
He quietly walked over and hugged Gu Huaiye from behind.
“What are you thinking about?”
Gu Huaiye didn’t push away Xie Miaohan’s embrace. He pointed to the yard outside the window.
“There used to be a wisteria tree planted here. My mom loved wisteria flowers very much and often took me to enjoy the shade under the tree.”
Xie Miaohan’s expression changed slightly. “You never mentioned it to me.”
Gu Huaiye laughed. “What’s there to mention about that?”
Xie Miaohan held his breath, asking the other person cautiously for the first time.
“So you like wisteria flowers, right?”
Gu Huaiye turned his head to look at him. “I probably like them, but your pheromones aren’t like them at all, so I can’t bring myself to love them.”
Xie Miaohan pondered for a moment, his tone rarely gentle.
“I can go for surgery again. Pheromones can be adjusted; maybe next time it will be similar.”
Gu Huaiye seemed to hear a joke, clutching his belly and laughing until tears spilled from the corners of his eyes.
“Xie Miaohan, what’s wrong with you? Could it be that after being permanently marked, a person becomes completely irrational?”
Gu Huaiye turned around to meet Xie Miaohan’s eyes, his gaze full of mockery.
“Before, you always said I was a beast controlled by desire, but look at yourself now. You are obviously much worse than me.”
He leaned into Xie Miaohan’s ear and whispered, “Like a bitch in heat.”
Listening to his humiliation, there was no anger on Xie Miaohan’s face; his brows and eyes were cold and indifferent.
“Alright, time for dinner. Let’s not talk about this.”
Gu Huaiye’s smile deepened upon hearing this, looking at him with pity.
He didn’t expect Xie Miaohan would have a day where he would escape.
At the dinner table, neither spoke, as if secretly competing, neither willing to speak first.
After the meal, Xie Miaohan went back to their bedroom first, rummaged through the drawer for inhibitors, and prepared to give himself another shot.
Gu Huaiye appeared at the door at some point, staring at him expressionlessly.
“How many times have you injected yourself this month?”
Xie Miaohan lied, “Not many.”
Gu Huaiye suddenly sighed, walked over, snatched the inhibitor from his hand, and threw it into the trash can.
“Let’s do it today.”
There was not a trace of surprise on Xie Miaohan’s face. He said lightly, “Is this your pity for me?”
“Just treat it as such.” Gu Huaiye had already started unbuttoning his pajamas.
Looking at Gu Huaiye in front of him, a sense of humiliation and anger rose in Xie Miaohan’s heart.
He really wanted to push Gu Huaiye away and accuse him of what exactly he wanted to do.
But the next second, Gu Huaiye’s pheromones were released. His body went limp, and he had no way to deal with Gu Huaiye’s various actions.
He thought self-deprecatingly, maybe it was just as Gu Huaiye said.
He was like a bitch in heat.
Xie Miaohan closed his eyes, turned the tables, and kissed Gu Huaiye’s lips fiercely.
Until Gu Huaiye released more pheromones, draining his strength. He was bitten on the back of the neck by the other party and then fainted.
Not knowing how long he slept, Xie Miaohan woke up with a start, cold sweat on his back.
He immediately looked to the side; it was empty. Gu Huaiye had left long ago.
Xie Miaohan’s face darkened slightly. After putting on clothes, he walked out of the room to look for Gu Huaiye.
The servants had already got off work, so he couldn’t know Gu Huaiye’s location. The uneasiness in his heart amplified, almost drowning him.
Finally, he found Gu Huaiye on the roof of the villa.
Gu Huaiye was sitting on the edge smoking. The wind was strong at night, blowing him so he looked like he was teetering.
Xie Miaohan’s heart almost stopped. He dared not move forward, his lips trembling slightly, his eyes filled with unconcealable fear and panic.
Gu Huaiye discovered him and smiled radiantly at him.
“Found by you.”
