This action caused everyone present to stare in wide-eyed shock.

Even Chen Zirui, who had always been picky and playful, stared straight at the scene, subconsciously swallowing his saliva.

Noticing the gazes around them, Gu Huaiye frowned in displeasure and shot them a glare filled with warning.

“What are you looking at? Don’t you have your own?”

Chen Zirui was the first to snap back to reality, grumbling to Gu Huaiye dissatisfiedly, “Brother Gu, I didn’t order this guy for you. Did you forget you still have an engagement with my brother? If you mess around like this, watch out or I’ll run and tell your dad.”

No one noticed that when Chen Zirui mentioned the word “engagement,” a gloominess surfaced in Xie Miaohan’s eyes.

“You organized the gathering, and you ordered the people. I can’t just sit here and watch you guys play, can I?” Gu Huaiye said nonchalantly.

“Hey, did you forget I’m your future brother-in-law? This doesn’t seem right, does it?” Chen Zirui muttered under his breath. “Didn’t you say you hated him? How can you let him accompany you for drinks? You sure change your face fast.”

To put it bluntly, he was just lustful.

And to think Chen Zirui worshipped Gu Huaiye as a big brother.

He had absolutely no principles.

“You said it yourself—’future.’ Just pretend you don’t see anything right now.” Gu Huaiye patted Xie Miaohan’s cheek insultingly, his eyes holding a playful smile. “Can you hold your liquor?”

When Gu Huaiye looked over, Xie Miaohan immediately put away the gloom in his eyes, revealing an innocent and obedient expression, and nodded slowly.

“I’m okay.”

The more obedient and docile he was, the angrier Gu Huaiye became.

If he had known Xie Miaohan was this loose, why did he spend so much money chasing this person in his past life? He could have just kept him as a sugar baby.

“Pour the strongest liquor.” Gu Huaiye tapped the table with his finger, signaling Chen Zirui.

Seeing him be so ruthless, the crowd couldn’t help but suck in a breath of cold air.

The other hosts who had entered with Xie Miaohan were secretly rejoicing that they hadn’t been targeted by Gu Huaiye.

As the strong liquor poured down his throat, the knuckles of Xie Miaohan’s hand resting on Gu Huaiye’s thigh curled slightly. Seemingly in extreme discomfort, the corners of his eyes flushed red, and his long lashes trembled uncontrollably.

Several drops of liquor slid from the corner of his mouth, landing on his collarbone, exuding sheer temptation.

Gu Huaiye stared tightly at his pained face, his mind wandering uncontrollably.

The liquor in the glass was finished. Xie Miaohan pushed aside the glass in Gu Huaiye’s hand, covering his mouth as he coughed lightly.

Gu Huaiye immediately snapped back to reality, looking down at his wife from his previous life.

The humiliation of being deceived nearly drowned out his reason.

In his past life, he thought Xie Miaohan was a flower on a high mountain that couldn’t be plucked. But looking at him now, he was no different from a cheap slut who could be bedded for money.

He had actually disregarded everyone’s opposition to marry Xie Miaohan, a fellow Alpha, for someone like this.

But for some reason, alongside the anger, Gu Huaiye’s heart began to ache.

Thinking about it from another angle—in a place Gu Huaiye couldn’t see, Xie Miaohan was actually living such a wretched life.

Gu Huaiye bit his lip, suppressing that inexplicable emotion.

“Can you drink more?” Gu Huaiye asked Xie Miaohan expressionlessly.

Chen Zirui really couldn’t watch anymore and spoke up to stop Gu Huaiye.

“Brother Gu, don’t go too far. He’s our senior after all; don’t bully him like this.”

Gu Huaiye scoffed. “He came here to work; isn’t he just begging guests to bully him?”

“But still…”

Xie Miaohan interrupted Chen Zirui, smiling at Gu Huaiye, “It’s okay, I can still drink.”

Gu Huaiye exploded with anger. Unable to bear it any longer, he pulled Xie Miaohan up from the floor and walked out of the private box.

“Hey, Brother Gu, where are you going—”

The door to the box closed, cutting Chen Zirui off.

Xie Miaohan followed closely behind Gu Huaiye. Looking down at their tightly held hands, the corners of his mouth turned up slightly.

Arriving at the parking lot outside the bar, Gu Huaiye found his car, opened the passenger door, and stuffed the person inside.

He then got into the driver’s seat. Just as he was about to start the car, Xie Miaohan pressed down on the back of his hand.

“You drank alcohol; you can’t drive.”

Gu Huaiye froze, then immediately slapped Xie Miaohan’s hand away.

But he didn’t start the car again. Leaning back against the seat, he lit a cigarette, trying to make himself more rational.

Xie Miaohan didn’t speak to disturb him, quietly staring at Gu Huaiye’s side profile.

When the cigarette was half-burned, Gu Huaiye said with a dry, hoarse voice, “Quit this job.”

Xie Miaohan looked troubled. “The part-time pay here is the highest.”

Gu Huaiye angrily stubbed out the cigarette in his hand and turned to look at Xie Miaohan.

He really couldn’t see through the person in front of him anymore.

Was this Xie Miaohan’s true face?

Loose and cheap, without a shred of self-respect.

Gu Huaiye gritted his teeth, squeezing out every word, “How much money do you need?”

Xie Miaohan seemed surprised that he would ask this, stunned for a moment before saying, “I still have two years until graduation; I’m short about two hundred thousand.”

“Two hundred thousand, right?” Gu Huaiye took out his phone from his pocket. “Let me scan your payment code. I’ll give you this money.”

“That won’t do. I can’t take your money for nothing.”

“Just treat it as me doing charity.” Gu Huaiye’s tone became impatient. “Hurry up. Miss this village and you won’t find this shop again.”

The next second, Xie Miaohan actually took out his phone, found his payment code, and turned the screen toward Gu Huaiye.

Gu Huaiye: “…”

He suddenly didn’t know whether he should be angry or laugh.

Two hundred thousand was transferred immediately.

Gu Huaiye put away his phone, his gaze toward Xie Miaohan becoming even more mocking.

“You’re not short of money now, so if I see you working in this kind of place again, I will definitely report you to the school. Look out for yourself.”

“I understand. I promise you, I won’t go again.”

Gu Huaiye waved his hand, fatigue showing in his brows.

He didn’t expect that after being reborn, he would still have to meddle in his ex-wife’s business. Just thinking about it made him feel pathetic.

“Then I’ll get out first,” Xie Miaohan said.

Gu Huaiye frowned. Looking at Xie Miaohan’s outfit, his expression turned ugly.

“Where do you live? I’ll have the driver send you.”

He thought Xie Miaohan would politely refuse, but this guy actually fastened his seatbelt without hesitation.

Gu Huaiye laughed speechlessly twice.

Xie Miaohan said, “I don’t have a home. I only live at school.”

The smile on Gu Huaiye’s face stiffened, and he didn’t say anything more.

He had wanted to call Lu Zishi, but seeing Xie Miaohan’s outfit, he chose to pay for a designated driver instead.

On the way back to school, he specially made the driver stop and bought a set of men’s clothes at a nearby mall.

When he handed the shopping bag to Xie Miaohan, Xie Miaohan looked at the clothes inside, looked up, and smiled at him. “So strange, how do you know my size?”

Gu Huaiye’s face changed, and he mumbled vaguely, “I just bought it according to my size. We’re about the same height; you should be able to wear it.”

“I’m 1.9 meters.”

Gu Huaiye: “…”

He wanted to kick this guy out of the car.

He shouldn’t have helped blindly; just causing trouble for himself.

Arriving at the school gate, Gu Huaiye got out of the car with the designated driver.

He locked Xie Miaohan inside the car, forcing him to change his clothes before allowing him to come out.

After entering the school, Gu Huaiye didn’t want to walk with Xie Miaohan, so he found an excuse to go in the opposite direction.

Xie Miaohan stared at Gu Huaiye’s retreating figure.

He dialed a number, his tone apologetic. “Junior, thank you for letting me cover your shift, but something came up midway and I left the bar. I’ll pay you double for your loss; I’m really sorry.”

The person on the other end laughed happily, then asked, “Do you still need to do this in the future?”

Helping with a shift and getting paid money—who wouldn’t want such a great deal to happen again?

“No need,” Xie Miaohan said. “He has already started to care about me.”
