Chapter 10: Give Him to Me
“Brother Gu, that’s enough.”
Chen Zirui pinned Gu Huaiye’s arm down, stopping him from downing another glass of wine.
“If you keep drinking like this, your stomach is going to revolt.”
Gu Huaiye shoved Chen Zirui’s hand away. “I’m annoyed right now. Don’t piss me off.”
Immediately after, Gu Huaiye knocked back another glass.
“Good lord, my little ancestor, didn’t you two make up? Why are you drowning your sorrows again?”
“Make up, my ass!” Gu Huaiye was already drunk, a flush rising on his cheeks as he fumed, “I forced all of this.”
If he hadn’t bowed his head first, Xie Miaohan probably wouldn’t have come home for the rest of his life.
“If you’re really that unhappy with him, just get a divorce sooner rather than later. Escaping this misery would be good for both of you.”
Gu Huaiye slammed the glass heavily onto the table. “No way. I’m not letting him off the hook. I’ve already temporarily marked him; he’s my Omega for this lifetime.”
Chen Zirui pursed his lips.
He really wanted to remind Gu Huaiye of the facts.
Xie Miaohan wasn’t an Omega in the true sense. His gland was artificial, so naturally, a mark wouldn’t actually be effective.
However, he didn’t dare remind him. He was afraid Gu Huaiye might beat him to death right there.
“I just wanted to go on a date… what couple doesn’t go on dates?” Gu Huaiye paused, then shook his head. “No, wait, we’re already married. We’re husband and wife, so we should be going on dates even more.”
He was truly going crazy.
Every day he had to face a cold block of wood—couldn’t touch him, couldn’t scold him, and still had to rack his brains to coax him.
“Alright, alright, stop drinking.” Chen Zirui couldn’t watch this anymore and moved the wine bottle out of reach. “If you drink yourself to death, wouldn’t you just be doing the homewrecker a favor?”
That sentence actually worked. Gu Huaiye really stopped and didn’t reach for more.
“Right. Can’t let the homewrecker win.”
Chen Zirui suddenly thought of something and couldn’t help but chuckle. “Maybe you owe that guy named Wen. After all, you were the one who stole his boyfriend back then.”
Actually, Chen Zirui didn’t know the full details of what happened back then.
But since Gu Huaiye firmly insisted that those two had dated, Wen Xuyue coming back for revenge seemed justifiable.
“Pei! He had it coming. The one who isn’t loved is the mistress.”
Hearing this, Chen Zirui stared at Gu Huaiye with a bewildered expression.
Gu Huaiye reacted instantly, reaching up to smack Chen Zirui on the head. “It’s all your fault, leading my thoughts astray.”
Chen Zirui clutched his head, thinking that Gu Huaiye really hit hard.
He wondered how Xie Miaohan usually dealt with Gu Huaiye.
But then again, Gu Huaiye liked Xie Miaohan so much, he probably couldn’t bear to hit him.
“Alright, Brother Gu, it’s already 3:00 AM. Let me take you back.”
Gu Huaiye shook his head. “I don’t want to go back.”
“You might not want to go home, but I have to. That dead old man is watching me like a hawk lately; I can’t stay out all night again.”
Gu Huaiye still had a shred of reason left and knew he couldn’t drag Chen Zirui down with him.
“Fine, let’s go back then.”
Once in the taxi, drowsiness washed over Gu Huaiye, and he fell fast asleep, snoring softly.
When they arrived downstairs at the apartment, Chen Zirui couldn’t wake him up. Sighing helplessly, he had no choice but to sling the man over his shoulder and carry him.
After struggling to get to the apartment door, he wasn’t even sure if Xie Miaohan was home. He rang the doorbell once and gave up.
He shook Gu Huaiye. “Brother Gu, wake up. I don’t know your passcode.”
Gu Huaiye let out a grunt, lifting his arms to hug Chen Zirui.
“Don’t be noisy… I’m so sleepy.”
Chen Zirui: “…” Never bringing a drunkard home again.
Just as he was at a loss for what to do, the apartment door actually opened.
Xie Miaohan stood there in plain white pajamas, his expression cold and severe, his eyes holding an indescribable gloom.
Chen Zirui smiled awkwardly. “Oh, you’re home.”
What made it more awkward was that Gu Huaiye seemed to be fully asleep; his legs went soft, and his body began to slide down.
Chen Zirui hurriedly supported him, grabbing him around the waist to hold him up.
Before he could even let out a sigh of relief, he sensed the temperature around the person in front of him drop even further.
“Give him to me.”
Chen Zirui also felt that holding him like this wasn’t appropriate, so he quickly handed the hot potato back to Xie Miaohan.
Xie Miaohan pulled the man into his arms. Smelling the strong reek of alcohol and smoke on him, he couldn’t help but frown.
Who knew what Gu Huaiye was dreaming about, but he started mumbling in his sleep.
“Xie Miaohan… I hate you.”
Xie Miaohan’s eyes darkened, his lips pressing into a thin line.
“Uh, I’ll be going now. He drank a bit too much, take care of him.”
Xie Miaohan nodded slightly. Without saying thank you, he raised his hand to close the door.
Chen Zirui looked at Xie Miaohan’s face and suddenly put his hand out to block the closing door.
Xie Miaohan paused, his frown deepening.
“Treat him a little better,” Chen Zirui said. “He suffered a lot for you, and he’s swallowed a lot of grievances. If he had just married my brother back then, his life would definitely be much easier than it is now. Since you married him, rein yourself in a bit. Don’t go fooling around with others.”
Xie Miaohan curled his lips in a cold sneer.
“So he tells you about all his grievances, does he?”
Chen Zirui opened his mouth to speak, but suddenly a wave of oppressive pressure hit him, making the pheromones inside his own body dart around uneasily.
His face turned a bit ugly. He was confused—how could Xie Miaohan, who had become an Omega, radiate such a powerful aura?
Before he could analyze it clearly, the door was shut in his face.
Fortunately, he had pulled his hand back in time, or it would have been crushed by the door.
After tonight’s events, Chen Zirui put away his previous perception of Xie Miaohan. He no longer felt this Alpha-turned-Omega was pitiful.
On the contrary, he was a little worried for his good brother.
He had a very strong premonition that if this continued, something big was going to happen in the Gu family.
Xie Miaohan didn’t look like a little white rabbit who would let others slaughter him.
