Chapter 11: The Small-Time Star and His Short-Tempered Sugar Daddy (Part XI)
When two people interact, if things are always more or less the same, it won’t take long for the freshness to be lost, turning it purely into a task and a release.
One must combine hardness with softness, apply both kindness and authority, balance work and rest, and use a variety of tricks to keep people always expectant.
When Fang Yinnian was in good condition, even if Xiao Ji intended to let him off, Fang Yinnian would say no, stop, get out, screw off with his mouth, but his body would be very honest.
But not only had he been working non-stop recently, but he had also been busy from morning to night today, plus the evening’s drinking and socializing. One could imagine how exhausted he was.
So Xiao Ji was no longer as aggressive as before, becoming extremely gentle.
After cleaning up afterwards, he quietly held Fang Yinnian in his arms, patting his back to lull him to sleep.
Fang Yinnian enjoyed this rare tenderness and warmth. He felt Xiao Ji was very well-behaved today, making it worth his while to tolerate Xiao Ji’s presumptuous behavior of showing up unannounced after he had worked himself to death for half a month.
He knew clearly the relationship between him and Xiao Ji, and he knew his own position. When he was in a good mood, he didn’t mind giving Xiao Ji a few more benefits.
So he closed his eyes, nestled in Xiao Ji’s arms, kissed the hickey he had left on Xiao Ji’s chest, and asked him:
“You wouldn’t come to the Three Treasures Hall without a reason. Speak, what do you want?”
Xiao Ji tightened the arms holding Fang Yinnian, kissed the top of his head in response, and said high-soundingly, “In your heart, must I always have a motive for coming to find you?”
Fang Yinnian was sober and direct: “What else? Because you love me? Really miss me? Cut the crap.”
Xiao Ji had indeed come with a purpose.
And his purpose wasn’t to thank him, but to push his luck.
He wanted an endorsement for a sports brand.
It wasn’t because this endorsement itself was anything amazing, nor because taking this endorsement would allow him to immediately reverse his current predicament.
It was because this endorsement was something Cheng Nuo had mentioned to Fang Yinnian earlier.
Fang Yinnian hadn’t agreed or refused; his attitude was ambiguous.
Cheng Nuo knew Fang Yinnian. He always agreed only after things were settled and never made empty promises to people around him. In Cheng Nuo’s heart, this endorsement was already in the bag.
And in the original trajectory of the world, Cheng Nuo did indeed obtain the endorsement thanks to Fang Yinnian.
There was a chasm between Xiao Ji and Cheng Nuo in terms of popularity, and a considerable gap in status. The probability of the brand choosing Cheng Nuo was much higher than choosing Xiao Ji.
But Cheng Nuo wasn’t an invulnerable, perfect choice either.
The reason he wanted this sports brand endorsement and needed Fang Yinnian’s help was due to his own physical shortcomings.
Height 175cm. Although not bad, it was just normal among ordinary people. To look good on camera, actors were generally quite thin, so there was no physique to speak of.
Moreover, Cheng Nuo hadn’t been taking the “looks” route, but the “talent” route, relying on his commendable acting skills and the appropriate maneuvering of capital.
He could endorse many things, but for the sports brand sector, no brand had ever approached him.
However, he happened to fancy the strength and influence behind this brand and wanted to muscle his way in.
Xiao Ji wanted to take this endorsement to accelerate the deterioration of the relationship between Fang Yinnian and Cheng Nuo.
When he came, he had thought about telling the truth and being direct. If Fang Yinnian agreed, great; if not, he would think of another way.
But at this moment, listening to Fang Yinnian’s words, Xiao Ji suddenly hesitated.
After a long time, he touched the back of Fang Yinnian’s head and said to him, “Sleep. I have nothing.”
Fang Yinnian was sharp.
He didn’t believe for a second that Xiao Ji had nothing to ask.
But if Xiao Ji didn’t say it, Fang Yinnian wasn’t impatient; he was ready to let him hold it in.
Probably because he was too tired, Fang Yinnian, who had previously suspected he wouldn’t sleep soundly sharing a bed with someone for the first time, began to snore softly in Xiao Ji’s arms within a minute.
The sound wasn’t loud, like the purring sound from a kitten’s throat when sleeping.
Only, he didn’t know how long he slept when Xiao Ji suddenly appeared in his dream.
In the dream, they were still in this villa. The difference was that photos of Xiao Ji and Fang Yinnian were placed everywhere in the house, and a wedding photo of the two was tackily hung on the wall behind the bed.
They sat on opposite ends of the sofa, left and right.
Fang Yinnian was talking to Xiao Ji, but Xiao Ji seemed completely unable to hear him, simply holding his phone and smiling foolishly.
Fang Yinnian shouted Xiao Ji’s name loudly. Only then did Xiao Ji abruptly look up at him and ask, “What’s wrong?”
Fang Yinnian asked, “Who are you chatting with? So happy? I’ve been talking to you for ages; are you deaf?”
Xiao Ji stopped smiling and said to Fang Yinnian nonchalantly, “Group chat.”
Fang Yinnian was suspicious. “What group?”
Xiao Ji hesitated for a moment and replied, “Work group. Colleagues from the crew are chatting.”
The credibility of this statement was really low. Fang Yinnian reached out to Xiao Ji: “Give me the phone to look at.”
Hearing this, Xiao Ji’s face immediately turned cold. He locked the screen and counter-accused: “Look at yourself in the mirror, Fang Yinnian. Look at this paranoid appearance of yours; you’re a completely different person from when I first met you.”
Fang Yinnian was already older than Xiao Ji. In these years, Xiao Ji had been incredibly successful, winning major awards until his hands were soft, and an entire wall at home was filled with his trophies.
He was constantly surrounded by various young, handsome bottoms of all types.
Hearing these words now, he immediately went to snatch the phone from Xiao Ji’s hand.
Xiao Ji dodged, furious out of a guilty conscience: “Enough! Don’t make a scene here!”
Fang Yinnian exploded with rage. “I’m making a scene? Xiao Ji, if you don’t have a ghost in your heart, why don’t you dare let me see? I really f*cking spoiled you rotten!”
As they spoke, they began to struggle.
Fang Yinnian insisted on seeing Xiao Ji’s phone; Xiao Ji refused to show him.
The Fang Yinnian in the dream was fiercer than Xiao Ji and more ruthless. He quickly gained the upper hand, pinning Xiao Ji under his butt and snatching the phone.
He used Xiao Ji’s face ID to unlock it and began to look at Xiao Ji’s phone.
It was full of all kinds of flirtatious chat records, many photos with mosaics, and records of booking rooms with various young male stars.
When Fang Yinnian woke up from the dream in a fury, the sky outside was already bright.
Xiao Ji wasn’t in bed.
Fang Yinnian sat up to look for him and saw Xiao Ji lying straight on the floor, hands crossed on his lower abdomen, eyes closed, sleeping soundly.
Fang Yinnian looked up, closed his eyes, extended his leg, and kicked Xiao Ji. “Get up.”
Xiao Ji opened his eyes, looking a bit bewildered.
Then he casually grabbed Fang Yinnian’s ankle, hugged Fang Yinnian’s foot into his arms, and prepared to go back to sleep.
Fang Yinnian hadn’t walked out of the anger of betrayal yet. He stepped on Xiao Ji’s chest. “I said get up.”
Only then did Xiao Ji slowly come to his senses. He released Fang Yinnian, sat up, and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Fang Yinnian held out his hand to him: “Give me your phone.”
