Chapter 10: The Small-Time Star and His Short-Tempered Sugar Daddy (Part X)
Whether Fang Yinnian had arrangements, Xiao Ji didn’t know and didn’t care that much.
But whether Xiao Ji had arrangements, his manager, Sister Cao, knew perfectly well.
After Xiao Ji had been idling for half a month, Sister Cao, unable to get through to his phone because she was blocked, happened to be passing by his neighborhood on business and came directly to his door.
“One good piece of news, one bad piece of news.”
Sister Cao sat on the sofa in Xiao Ji’s house and said to him.
Xiao Ji sat at the dining table, eight poles away from Sister Cao. “I want to hear the…”
He only said four words and waited for Sister Cao to interrupt him.
But facts proved that there weren’t that many bots in this world.
Sister Cao respected his opinion this time and asked him, “Which one do you want to hear first?”
Xiao Ji pursed his lips. “Good news.”
“Then I’ll tell you the bad one first.” Sister Cao respected him, but not completely. She said directly, “Because you didn’t agree, I couldn’t give a reply. The endorsement for the contraceptive products fell through; they found an artist from a modeling agency.”
“The good news is that the program group for the dating variety show you wanted to participate in sent an invitation, asking you to join the group directly next Monday.”
“Xiao Ji, tell the truth. Whose thigh are you hugging?”
Given Xiao Ji’s current situation, if he didn’t have a backer willing to invest money in him, wanting to make a comeback was basically a pipe dream.
Everyone was struggling to make a living in society. Sister Cao was very realistic; she basically treated Xiao Ji as an outcast and focused all her attention on her other artists.
She paid almost no attention to Xiao Ji. Although she knew Xiao Ji had been called in for a talk by Fang Yinnian earlier, she didn’t know the specifics.
She only knew that not receiving news about terminating Xiao Ji’s contract or putting him in cold storage was good enough.
Moreover, everyone in the company knew Fang Yinnian’s temper. Sister Cao never imagined that Xiao Ji would hug Fang Yinnian’s leg.
Xiao Ji didn’t intend to tell her either, only saying it might be a kind-hearted philanthropist.
Sister Cao didn’t believe his ghost talk at all and warned him: “In this industry, minor fame depends on promotion; superstardom depends on fate. Crooked paths might make you a lot of money in a short time, but they are absolutely not a long-term plan.”
“As a public figure, you must be responsible for your words and deeds and bear the corresponding consequences.”
“I can ignore whose blessing you relied on to get this opportunity, but I hope you will be cautious in your words and actions in the future. Since you’ve taken this path, you must be mentally prepared for the day everything comes to light.”
These words were harsh advice but true. Xiao Ji appreciated it. “Thank you.”
Seeing that Xiao Ji still refused to speak, Sister Cao didn’t force him anymore. After giving a few more instructions, she left Xiao Ji’s house.
As soon as Sister Cao left on the front foot, Xiao Ji went out on the back foot, heading straight for Fang Yinnian’s house.
This time he learned his lesson. Afraid that Fang Yinnian would throw a tantrum and change his face before he left, he drove his own car.
Fang Yinnian hadn’t seen Xiao Ji for half a month. On one hand, he intentionally wanted to leave him hanging so he wouldn’t think his position was too important. On the other hand, he really had a lot of things to deal with and couldn’t find the time.
He finally wrapped up several matters today, but he had a social engagement in the evening.
Because the social engagement would disrupt his rhythm of reporting to Xiao Ji, he simply didn’t tell Xiao Ji.
When he returned home, it was already approaching 2:00 AM.
Fang Yinnian’s villa had two gates. The front gate was for people; the back gate was for cars.
As he passed the front gate, he subconsciously glanced out the window and saw someone squatting on the ground at the entrance of his house, playing on their phone.
Fang Yinnian focused his eyes, recognized Xiao Ji’s figure, and said to the driver, “Stop the car.”
He got out and strode up to Xiao Ji. “Don’t you know how to call if you’re coming over?”
Hearing this, Xiao Ji stood up. “You didn’t say I could call. I sent a message.”
Fang Yinnian had been dragged into drinking all night. The fact that he was sober right now was purely due to his high alcohol tolerance; he hadn’t had time to check messages.
But now he understood. Xiao Ji was just this kind of person.
He took out his phone, skipped over the screen full of unread red dots, found Xiao Ji’s chat box, and saw the message Xiao Ji sent five hours ago saying he was coming to find him.
Fang Yinnian had a housekeeper, but for his own reasons, he didn’t allow the housekeeper to live in his house. Basically, she would leave after making dinner. If Fang Yinnian didn’t come home for dinner, the auntie could get off work even earlier.
Driving from Xiao Ji’s house to Fang Yinnian’s house took about forty minutes. That meant Xiao Ji had waited at his door for at least four hours.
He didn’t know how a human could stick to rules to this extent. He let out a long breath, pinned Xiao Ji to the top of his chat list, and then said:
“In the future, call anytime if something comes up. If I’m not busy, I’ll answer.”
After speaking, he thought about it and pushed Xiao Lin’s contact information to Xiao Ji. “If I don’t answer, ask Xiao Lin.”
Xiao Ji said okay and obediently added Xiao Lin’s contact information.
When entering, Fang Yinnian scanned his face, opened the main door of the house, then recited a string of numbers and said to Xiao Ji:
“Next time no one is home, come in and wait by yourself.”
Xiao Ji followed behind Fang Yinnian and hummed in agreement.
Upon entering, Fang Yinnian sprawled out on the sofa, tore off his tie, and ordered Xiao Ji: “Pour me a glass of water.”
Xiao Ji brought the water over, sat opposite Fang Yinnian, and pushed the glass in front of him.
“What’s the matter, looking for me so suddenly?” Fang Yinnian drank the warm water in the glass in one breath and asked him.
Xiao Ji watched the movement of Fang Yinnian’s Adam’s apple as he swallowed the water, and Cheng Nuo’s words from not long ago suddenly popped into his mind.
He looked away, lowering his eyes. “I missed you.”
“Don’t give me that bullshit,” Fang Yinnian blurted out subconsciously. “You might as well say you want to sleep with me; I’d believe that ninety percent more.”
If nothing else, Fang Yinnian had this confidence.
Although he was five years older than Xiao Ji, he believed that his figure and appearance could take the top spot even in the fiercely competitive gay circle.
And although he cursed, he was cooperative and enthusiastic. His vocalizations were definitely sexy enough. Otherwise, Xiao Ji wouldn’t go so hard on him every time.
Regardless of personality, at least for now, their cooperation in bed was very pleasant.
So Xiao Ji followed Fang Yinnian’s meaning and said seriously, “I want to sleep with you.”
Fang Yinnian closed his eyes. “Xiao Ji, don’t force me to curse you.”
This wouldn’t do, that wouldn’t do either.
Xiao Ji could only change his phrasing: “I want you to sleep with me.”
Although there was essentially no difference, these words indeed made Fang Yinnian feel much better. Looking at Xiao Ji, he said:
“Then if you don’t make a move, are you waiting for me to serve you?”
