Chapter 35: Moving
No one could remain indifferent to such a promise.
A young tycoon who had built his fortune almost from scratch was willing to give up all his assets to be with her son, even willing to humble himself.
Mother Bai was shocked beyond belief and asked almost subconsciously, “Really?”
Bo Yan nodded, his tone decisive. “Words are empty. I will contact my lawyer right now.”
He paused. “After the transfer, will you agree to us being together?”
His tone was uncertain. This uncertainty wasn’t regret for the money he was about to lose—he wasn’t worried about that at all—but fear that Mother Bai would disagree.
From start to finish, all he wanted was to be with Bai Qi.
Mother Bai stared at Bo Yan without blinking, her heart pounding wildly.
Bo Yan didn’t avoid her gaze. His back was straight, the tension in the room stretched to the breaking point.
After staring for who knows how long, Mother Bai finally sighed.
“Then you two can try. I will observe.”
Bo Yan froze for a rare moment.
In the end, he was just a young man in his twenties. Hearing such huge good news unexpectedly, he couldn’t keep his composure anymore. His stern face showed uncontrollable surprise, and his pale cheeks flushed red.
“Thank you, Mother.” He coughed, the corners of his lips rising uncontrollably, his voice tinged with a smile. “I’ll contact the lawyer.”
Saying that, he picked up the phone to call, showing not a shred of reluctance, but rather an urgency as if afraid she would change her mind.
Mother Bai finally smiled.
She looked at Bo Yan with some satisfaction. Originally, she thought he looked like that scumbag everywhere, but now he looked more and more like Bo Yi.
Bo Yi was stubborn, bold, devoted, and would never let go once she set her mind on something. Since Bo Yan was her best friend’s son, Mother Bai couldn’t help but have some expectations for him.
With such boldness, maybe he could really treat Little Qi well.
Even if he didn’t, with her relationship with his mother, surely he wouldn’t let Little Qi repeat her mistakes.
“Good child, no need to spend money. Just live well together.”
Mother Bai smiled, looking much more spirited.
The news that her best friend wasn’t dead was a huge boost to her. The hate and resentment suppressed for so many years dissipated significantly.
But Bo Yan insisted on the transfer.
Mother Bai couldn’t really accept so many things, but she couldn’t completely dissuade him, so she was forced to accept a large sum of money.
…
Meanwhile, Bai Qi was sitting anxiously on the sofa waiting. He didn’t know how the talk between his mother and Bo Yan was going. The move depended partly on whether his mother approved of Bo Yan, so he was very nervous.
He strained his ears to listen, but there was no sound. He didn’t know why they avoided him. Were they arguing in there?
His fingertips swiped randomly on his phone. He didn’t even know what he was looking at.
Fortunately, the agonizing wait didn’t last long. The door clicked open.
Bai Qi stood up immediately. His mother walked in front. He couldn’t tell her mood, but her cheeks didn’t look so pale; they had some color. He didn’t know if it was from anger.
Behind her, Bo Yan looked straight at Bai Qi.
His lowered eyelashes seemed to hold starlight, and his eyes were deep enough to suck a person in.
Bai Qi clenched his fists uncontrollably, his heart pounding so hard it felt like it would jump out. All he could think was that he hoped his mother would agree.
He didn’t want her to suffer anymore.
Her lips pursed, then Mother Bai suddenly smiled and waved her hand. “Alright, I agree.”
Bai Qi’s heart relaxed. His face filled with surprise, and his eyes curved into a smile. “Then let’s pack our luggage now.”
Mother Bai paused. “Pack what?”
Bai Qi also paused, confusion on his beautiful face. “Huh? Aren’t we moving out?”
Isn’t that what they were talking about just now?
At this moment, Bo Yan could no longer restrain himself. He walked over and hugged Bai Qi tightly. His voice was hoarse, sounding choked with emotion if one listened closely. “Mother agreed to let us be together.”
The words thundered in his ears.
Bai Qi’s limbs went numb. He was confused for a moment, followed by immense joy.
Much more joy than his mother agreeing to move. He didn’t know why he was so happy, but his brows danced with delight.
He felt like he was floating.
Bo Yan looked down at him after speaking. Seeing that Bai Qi was happy and showed no sign of rejection, the veins on the hand gripping Bai Qi’s thin shoulder bulged. He finally felt the reality of obtaining his beloved.
The string called reason in his mind nearly snapped.
Afraid of doing something irrational in front of his mother out of excitement, Bo Yan tried his best to suppress the impulse and turned to explain the move to Mother Bai.
Mother Bai was a little surprised.
Moving?
She looked at the place where she had lived for more than ten years. Time had passed for so long, long enough for her to get used to suffering. She had almost forgotten that when she was young, she also yearned for a big house.
She couldn’t describe the feeling in her heart. It felt a bit unreal, hazy. But seeing the expectant looks of the two children, she nodded.
Let’s stay there for now. Just treat it as a vacation.
Soon, she went into the room to pack. Until this moment, Bai Qi hadn’t expected things to end so smoothly.
Bo Yan is amazing. How did he convince Mom?
He had a bellyful of questions. As soon as his mother entered the room, he couldn’t help but want to ask Bo Yan secretly. But before he could speak, he was grabbed by the equally impatient Bo Yan and kissed heavily.
His creamy white cheek was squeezed, pushing up soft flesh. Bai Qi felt his excitement deeply, and could even feel Bo Yan…
His face turned bright red with shame. Afraid Bo Yan would embarrass himself in front of his mother later, he quickly moved away from him.
The smile on Bo Yan’s lips wouldn’t fade. He looked down and pinched the bridge of his nose. “I’m so happy.”
Bai Qi was happy too, but he was afraid his mother would be unhappy later.
Unfortunately, they had no ice water at home. After thinking, he tentatively opened the fridge door and looked at him hesitantly.
Being stared at by Bai Qi’s beautiful eyes, Bo Yan endured until his veins bulged and his mouth went dry.
“Okay.”
He strode over with his long legs, propped one hand on the fridge door, and lowered his head, panting. He was so tall he had to bend down.
A bit of cool air drifted out. His body was stained with the cold, like biting snow.
Bai Qi hid to the side and peeked, thinking this cold, abstinent style suited him. He wondered why Bo Yan had such a high internal fire.
Waiting quietly, Bai Qi’s mood couldn’t help but soar.
Fortunately, Bo Yan regained his composure before Mother Bai came out, casually carrying the suitcase downstairs.
Although Mother Bai had let go a little, she was still unsettled when she got into the luxury car again.
It had been many years. As a wealthy wife once envied by everyone, falling into debt and having to move to this impoverished house—the gap had made her suffer for a long time.
Plus, there were too many rascals around here. Her health was poor, and she didn’t dare go out much alone with a child for fear of being entangled. She could only do some manual work at home, and even had to rely on her son to support her.
The past flashed through her mind.
She leaned against the window and looked out. Her skin looked even more lustrous against the luxury car seat, her hair was black and shiny, and even the cheap green glass bracelet on her wrist looked like priceless jade.
Neighbors she used to dislike looked over in shock and envy. They clearly recognized her, but no one dared to come up and talk. It was completely different from the sticky, greedy scrutiny of the past.
Just sitting in a car gave her a higher sense of security than hiding in her room.
She suddenly felt that having money was good. At least her son wouldn’t be under so much pressure, and wouldn’t be bullied casually.
Even if he was bullied by one person, it was better than being bullied by everyone.
The car started soon.
Bo Yan had also presented many houses for Mother Bai to choose from. Contrary to Bai Qi’s expectation of resistance, his mother naturally and generously chose a villa in the city center.
The atmosphere in the car was unusually harmonious. Everyone got what they wanted, and their moods were exceptionally good.
Bai Qi hadn’t been here either. Soon they arrived at the villa entrance, and the air suddenly became fresh.
A three-story luxury villa was hidden amidst a blooming garden. The exterior looked extremely modern; clearly a home for the wealthy.
Mom will definitely like this.
Bai Qi turned his head subconsciously and sure enough saw the surprise in her eyes.
He didn’t know if it was an illusion, but his mother’s complexion seemed much better.
Bai Qi knew his mother’s illness was partly mental and partly due to the damp, oppressive room. Now, the air was good, the sunlight was good, and there were even birds in the sky. Mom’s favorite big house—it was perfect for her.
The happiness in his heart turned into gratitude toward Bo Yan.
He couldn’t help leaning close to Bo Yan and whispering “Thank you.” Bo Yan paused, then replied very politely and seriously, “You’re welcome.”
Their words seemed both distant and familiar. At this moment, they really felt like a couple treating each other with mutual respect.
Bai Qi couldn’t help but be amused by him.
He knew Bo Yan didn’t like him saying thank you all the time, so he didn’t say more, hiding his gratitude in his heart and thinking about how to treat him better in the future.
The three entered the house together. The interior was even more luxurious than the outside, full of high-tech features and smart furniture.
Bai Qi liked a cozy house, while Mother Bai was the opposite; she loved stylish modern decoration and enjoying the benefits of technology. This villa was practically tailor-made for her.
Mother Bai couldn’t keep a straight face anymore; her joy was palpable.
Originally she just came to rest for a few days, but now she really wanted to live here for a long time.
The house of her dreams, a lifetime’s extravagance, suddenly realized just like that.
Mother Bai looked around happily, looking much younger, like a butterfly. Seeing his mother happy, the burden Bai Qi had carried in his heart finally lifted, and his expression became unconsciously lighter.
They didn’t leave immediately but stayed with his mother for the day.
The biggest and most beautiful room on the second floor was naturally hers. Bai Qi and Bo Yan stayed on the third floor. Of course, with an elder present, they couldn’t share a room, so they stayed in opposite rooms on the third floor.
Bai Qi felt a secret delight.
Although he was grateful to Bo Yan, he was still a little unaccustomed to overly intimate contact. He liked living like this—living across from each other, having their own space but sharing a house. An intimate yet independent life.
And with his mother here, Bo Yan wouldn’t dare bully him today.
After a comfortable bath and meal, Bai Qi soon returned to his room for a nap.
This room was specially prepared for him by Bo Yan. Everything inside was clean snow-white. The sunlight was excellent. Opposite was the garden planted with baby’s breath—aesthetic and romantic.
Wearing pure white pajamas, he lay lazily on the bed, his body warmed by the sun, his exposed forearm gleaming white.
The room was as quiet as a fairytale world.
A gentle breeze blew, and occasional bird calls could be heard.
However, soon, this silence was broken by an uninvited guest.
It seemed a pervert had snuck in.
