Chapter 82: Three Marriage Threads, Two Fragments…
Yun Wuxiang didn’t quite understand.
What was so good about dual cultivation that it made Song Yilou this obsessed? He clearly hadn’t done it either; the fellow’s ghost essence was still intact.
Was it because he hadn’t done it and was curious, or did he believe it was something Dao Companions had to do? Should he give him a lesson on Platonic love… Forget it, a Ghost Gu wouldn’t understand ideological theories summarized by humans, and even if he could, he wouldn’t change his mind. If Song Yilou could be persuaded by words, they wouldn’t have reached this point.
Once Song Yilou decided on something, even if knives fell from the sky or lava flowed from the earth, he would do it.
However, dual cultivation techniques did have some aspects worth researching.
The corner of his eye was pecked by the restless Ghost Gu, and an urging voice rang out: “How much longer does the Guanzhu need to think?”
Yun Wuxiang pinched the chin of the person before him and pulled him back. Looking into the other’s eyes, he asked, “How many dual cultivation techniques have you learned?”
Song Yilouâs eyes widened into round shapes, making those sinister ghost pupils look almost cute. His excited voice was firm and loud: “All the positions!”
“Only the positions?” Yun Wuxiang caught the detail in his words and pressed, “What about the meridian circulation routes? The number of cycles? Also, what raceâs dual cultivation technique did you look at? You are a ghost, I am a demon; if the races don’t match or the technique is used wrong, youâll get half the result for twice the effort.”
The Ghost Gu went silent. The Ghost Gu went blank. The Ghost Gu collapsed, pleading humbly: “…Can we skip dual cultivation and just sleep together?”
This plea naturally met with a heartless refusal: “No. That sort of thing holds zero attraction for me, and it would waste my demonic essence and your ghost essence. You dare to clamor about dual cultivating with me when you haven’t even learned the technique.”
Yun Wuxiangâs hand, which had been at the corner of Song Yilouâs eye, slid smoothly back to grab his ear. “If you don’t know anything, do you expect me to teach you?”
“Can you?” Song Yilou hugged Yun Wuxiang tightly, like a student thirsting for knowledge looking for the favor of a schoolmaster. “Guanzhu, teach me.”
What a thick skin. Yun Wuxiang covered that face with one hand. “Keep dreaming.”
“It’s already dark!” Song Yilou gestured at the sky to argue. During the time Yun Wuxiang was “thinking,” the setting evening sun had finally hidden its last light. The evening breeze grew cool, but a certain hard object at his waist grew increasingly hot. “At least help me solve it, Guanzhu.”
“Do you plan to waste your ghost essence so pointlessly?” Yun Wuxiang directly formed a seal and brushed him twice with the Heart Clearing Incantation.
Song Yilou wiltedâin every sense. Then he became excited again in a flash. “You agreed! As long as I learn the technique, youâll dual cultivate with me!”
The hardness that had just subsided at his leg became stone-solid once more. Yun Wuxiang was shocked by the speed of this thingâs transformation; it was as if his Heart Clearing Incantation had never been used.
How could it be so fast? Where was the process of change?
Yun Wuxiangâs emotions didn’t show much on his face, but he placed several more layers of the Heart Clearing Spell on the ghost to cool down his magic. Then, under the Ghost Guâs resentful gaze, he said indifferently, “First, you must find the right technique, show it to me, and then learn it.”
A distressed Song Yilou looked at the person he longed for, his face looking miserable.
It was like placing a piece of meat by a puppy’s mouth, only to take it away when it opened its jaws. He was angry but couldn’t bear to bite the culprit; he could only keep whimpering, trying to make the owner soften.
The crimson eyes reflected the gloomy, bitter ghost. The owner would not soften; he only wanted to laugh.
Song Yilou was like a special bait, always able to fish out the malicious factors hidden deep in Yun Wuxiangâs personality, causing them to swim around the bait and fake a few bites without ever taking the hook, leaving the fisherman frustrated and furious.
Wisps of demonic aura sketched a playful arc in the dark.
It was great fun. Entertaining the owner was, after all, the pet’s dutyâespecially for a pet that was constantly trying to rebel. There was no need to soften when teasing him.
“Fellow Daoist Song, this is the prize of my collection. Any race can use it.” Second Uncle Succubus placed a technique manual into Song Yilouâs hand with an ambiguous smile, his glamorous eyes holding a suggestive tease. “I guarantee you will have a pleasant time with your Dao Companion.”
Unexpectedly, Song Yilou took the technique but showed no joy. He opened it, and the smile he usually wore faded. His expressionless look made one feel uneasy.
Time passed bit by bit. Song Yilou still stared at the manual without a word. In this secret trading post, the only sound was the occasional flipping of pages. One page, two pages… the speed kept increasing, the rhythm becoming messy, revealing the flipperâs agitation.
Second Uncle finally couldn’t help but ask, “Is there something wrong with the technique?”
Song Yilou stopped looking at the book. He looked past it at the succubus who had the words “Veteran of Romance” written all over his head and asked, “Do you know this technique?”
Second Uncle curled his lips in a shallow smile. In that instant, his eyes overflowed with charm. “Naturally.”
Song Yilou said seriously, “Teach me.”
“…I thought you and your Dao Companion had a sincere relationship and shouldn’t tolerate anyone interfering. Did I misjudge?” Second Uncle looked at Song Yilou in surprise. It didn’t make sense; one of these two looked very possessive, and the other looked like the type who couldn’t stand even a grain of sand in his eyes. How could he make such a request?
Man She, who had been acting as an invisible demon for a while, reminded, “Cough, cough. Second Uncle, teach him properly.”
Second Uncle frowned strangely, his eyesâwhich looked affectionately at everyoneânow full of confusion. “How do I teach?”
Teach a dual cultivation technique properly.
Listen to those words. How can any dual cultivation technique be ‘proper’?
Song Yilou narrowed his eyes. “You don’t know how to teach?”
Dual cultivation is an instinct, isn’t it? The technique is just the spice; you just use it on your Dao Companion. How else do you teach? This ghost clearly doesn’t mean dual cultivating with him to hone skills… honing skills.
Second Uncle gave a knowing smile. “I have a stalk of Dream Entry Incense here. it can allow you to meet your Dao Companion in a dream. As for dual cultivation techniques, youâll get it once you practice enough.”
I ask you to teach me, and you tell me to self-study?!
Song Yilou kicked the table over in a rage, took the manual, and turned to leave.
The two startled succubi looked at the shattered table, then at each other.
“Whatâs wrong with him?”
“Don’t know.”
The sound of footsteps returned.
Song Yilou had run back. He reached out. “Give me the Dream Entry Incense.”
Having taken the incense, the ghost left hurriedly again.
After a long silence, Second Uncle looked at the mess on the ground and said, “He hasn’t given me the reward yet.”
He hadn’t paid for the manual or the incense.
Man She said, “Ask for it later. An unsatisfied male is irritable and stingy.”
While Song Yilou was kicking the table in a rage, Yun Wuxiang had already returned to the Demon Boat.
He sent a letter to Yun Xinyang asking the System how to raise a Ghost Gu. Just a few minutes later, he received a reply.
[3339 says: Who would raise a thing like that?]
Yun Wuxiang: “…”
This sentence was covered with a second layer of ink, but it could be seen when held up to the light. The person writing didn’t use ink often and had made a useless attempt at concealment.
The words below were much more formal: [Wuxiang, 3339 says that Ghost Gu are generally disasters that need to be eliminated. They don’t appear often, and its backend only has a few records of eliminating Ghost Gu. There are no healthy or positive raising methods. If you want to raise one, you can only figure it out yourself. Fortunately, a Ghost Gu can’t be tortured to death. Try more; Iâm sure Song Yilou won’t mind.]
The simplified characters written with a brush were large and clumsy; one page could only barely fit these words. Finally, in the bottom right corner, there was an arrow indicating to turn the page.
the paper wasn’t very thick; in fact, one didn’t need the arrow to see there was writing on the back.
Yun Wuxiang flipped the paper.
[Actually, both I and 3339 believe that the raising method doesn’t matter, as long as the owner is right.]
[Although he has many flaws, he only recognizes you. With him around, I doubt you’ll find anyone else anyway. Why not just make do?]
Only recognizes him.
Yun Wuxiangâs gaze paused on those words.
It was true that he only recognized him. When he and Yun Xinyangâs souls were still intertwined, his memories and even his personality were influenced by the other, becoming so chaotic he couldn’t distinguish them himself. Yet Song Yilou had never been confused.
“Guanzhu, I found a technique!” The rowdy Ghost Gu ran over holding the manual. He grabbed Yun Wuxiangâs hand and placed the manual into it. “Can’t the Guanzhu just teach me?”
Before he could get a reply, Song Yilou simply gave up. “Iâll only learn for ten days. If I can’t learn it, Iâm done! We won’t dual cultivateâweâll just have sex!”
Yun Wuxiang opened the manual and glanced at it casually. the grade of the technique was decent. As for those positions that would make one’s heart skip a beat, in the Guanzhuâs eyes, they were no different from medical anatomical diagrams.
Hearing Song Yilouâs “failed student” speech, he directly rolled the manual into a tube and whacked Song Yilou on the head with it.
His waist was tightened as a “fake-wailing” Ghost Gu latched onto him.
Bang!
Another hit on the head with the rolled book.
Yun Wuxiangâs calm voice suppressed the chaotic ghost-words: “What part don’t you understand?”
The noisy Ghost Gu silenced instantly. The head rubbing against his shoulder leaned back a bit, staring into Yun Wuxiangâs eyes as if analyzing if his words were real or just a teasing joke. “The Guanzhu is going to teach me?”
“Teach me, Guanzhu, hurry!” Whether it was real or fake, once he heard it, it had to be real.
“Letâs start with the meridians. Ghosts don’t have meridians in the human sense, so you must manifest ghost-veins yourself…”
After a round of detailed instruction from Yun Wuxiang.
Song Yilou slumped on the ground, having lost all desire to live. One of his hands gripped Yun Wuxiangâs ankle as his soul drifted out of his mouth: “I don’t understand.”
“This isn’t what I imagined.”
Kicking the ghost who was like a pile of mud by his leg, Yun Wuxiangâs lips curved up a fraction.
Of course it was different. How could he not know what Song Yilou was thinking?
Who said teaching a dual cultivation technique required intimate contact? You want to go into practice when you don’t even know the theory?
However, Song Yilou wasn’t stupid. He was crazy, but not an idiot. How could he not even learn a dual cultivation technique?
He had clearly taught him well later on, yet he still couldn’t learn.
Yun Wuxiang looked down at his feet, only to see a ghost with his mouth open, aimed at his ankle.
Their eyes met.
Song Yilou bit down on the ankle before him, his teeth grinding twice, his tongue swirling.
Bang!
The demons still on the boat looked toward the source of the sound.
A shadow flew out of the window, tracing a long arc. With a spin and a jump, the black scorpion made a perfect landing.
The demons withdrew their gazes and continued their business, though a few small whispers broke out.
“Thrust out again.”
“Why doesn’t he just kill him?”
“The hobby of a great demon…”
The sky suddenly brightened as the entire Coral Island glowed with a brilliant red light.
Under the red light, red silk threads appeared on the demons, with the other end of the threads leading to their destined marriages.
“Red Thread Day has arrived.”
“I have a red thread! Farewell, brothers! Iâm going to find my lover, hahahaha!”
“I actually don’t have a single one!” Some demons couldn’t believe it.
“Don’t lose heart. Red threads can only connect demons who are on the island at the same time. Your destiny isn’t here.”
“I have two red threads. Which one should I find first?” The hesitating demon was poked by a companion beside him. A terrifying voice whispered nearby, “Don’t bother. Look at the cabin first.”
Red threads were illusory and could penetrate buildings and living bodies.
Three red threads flew into the cabin, and currently, there was only one demon inside.
The demons suddenly turned to look at Song Yilou, only to see a black shadow flash before their eyes as a giant wave rose abruptly from beneath the boat.
The water beneath the boat suddenly vanished, as if a giant sea beast had opened its maw, swallowing the entire boat before the wave could cover it.
Waves, a sea-vortex… it was like two fierce beasts fighting over prey.
No, it was three.
The demons were thrown off before the boat vanished, and they now stood on the shore, soaked and looking out at the sea.
The Demon Boat was nowhere to be seen. Only Song Yilou, shrouded in Yin Qi, remained watching the sea, a hyperbolic smile on his lips as he charged into the sea with killing intent.
“I heard it. The Guanzhu agreed to dual cultivate with me.”
Dripping wet fingers reached for Yun Wuxiangâs collar, the demand mixed with resentment, anger, and deep jealousy.
Yun Wuxiang sat on a large clamshell. Three red threads were wrapped around his right wrist, one of which was connected to the tail of the merman before him.
Slapping away the reaching hand, Yun Wuxiang lifted his eyes and looked at the black-tailed merman version of Song Yilou. “You only listen to half of what is said?”
He hadn’t seen a slice of Song Yilou for a long time; he didn’t expect two to show up at once.
“Iâll never learn any technique in this life. The Guanzhu is just stalling for time, playing that idiot for a fool.” Merman Song mocked his other self with disdain, though his words were thick with bitterness.
Yun Wuxiang pinched a section of the merman tail; it felt smooth. “The one I agreed to was that idiot, not a fish like you.”
“The one you agreed with was Song Yilou, and I am also Song Yilou.” Merman Songâs tail wrapped around Yun Wuxiangâs arm and onto his body, his upper body leaning in. “The Guanzhu belongs to me.”
A violent current surged toward them, slamming into Merman Song.
“Go die.”
Bone-chilling killing intent boiled. Seeing the new fragment, Yun Wuxiang felt refreshed. He beckoned toward the other, saying, “Come here. Let me touch you.”
This Song Yilou had actually possessed a jellyfishâa round head plus a bunch of streamers, with no human form!
Hearing the call, the jellyfish swam toward Yun Wuxiang eagerly, only to be blocked by the merman halfway.
Without suspense, the two fragments fought, every move a killing blow.
Yun Wuxiang watched the merman and jellyfish fight leisurely. After a few glances, he turned to observe the surrounding environment. It didn’t matter which of the two won; they were both Song Yilou anyway.
The Song Yilou who came with him was likely delayed by these two using some tricks; he still hadn’t shown his face.
A group of mermen swam over from a distance, their faces filled with rage.
Just as Yun Wuxiang thought these were helpers summoned by Merman Song, the mermen launched an attack on him.
“Traitor of the North Sea!”
“Shameless Thief Merman!”
“Return the Sea-Stabilizing Merman Pearl!”
Yun Wuxiang: “…”
Well, with Song Yilouâs personality, how could he possibly have a good reputation?
The same applied to his “fish reputation.”
[Excerpt from The Ghost Gu Raising Manual]
[You can only raise one Ghost Gu. Split fragments will fight when they meet until only one remains.]
[There is no need to worry about this process, because the owner only wants to raise one.]
[Only the final victor is worthy of having the Dao Companion! (Written in another crooked handwriting)]
