Chapter 107: At a Dead End (Revised)
Pei Qi had taken a hit from the Heart-Piercing Arrow, causing his domain to shrink significantly. Sheng Lan and Hei Mang both successfully broke free from his control.
However, Feng Shi’s two rebellions, combined with the fact that he had killed Cao Ni, caused the demonic nature in Pei Qi’s heart to explode.
“This Venerable truly didn’t expect… you to be so capable. Good, very good!” Pei Qi reached out to wipe the blood from the corner of his mouth. His lips curled into a bizarre arc as he slowly stood up.
The bone fan unfolded behind his back, the red flowers painted on it appearing piercingly bright.
The depths of Pei Qi’s eyes were pitch black, clearly indicating he was on the verge of a total meltdown.
Feng Shi sheathed his sword, hiding his uncontrollably trembling hand behind his back. He consumed a large number of spiritual stones to summon the Lianxin Puppets.
The side effects of the “Slay Higher Rank Enemy” skill were obvious. He was currently in a state of complete exhaustion, but he didn’t want anyone to see it.
A cold-faced child dressed in yellow suddenly appeared before the crowd.
The child held a Black Iron Umbrella. His robes fluttered as the iron umbrella spun rapidly in his hand. The sound of the umbrella’s edge cutting through the air was deafening. He stood quietly by Feng Shi’s side, eyes closed and head bowed.
Anyone present who had witnessed the battle at the Qingyun Sect recognized this child. Seeing him again now, they were all shocked and sighed in amazement.
Feng Shi hadn’t been stingy with his spiritual stones, so the Lianxin Puppet’s current strength had reached the peak of the Deity Transformation stage.
Although this puppet still wasn’t enough to severely wound Pei Qi, it could at least buy Feng Shi enough time for another attempt at the Heart-Piercing Arrow.
Pei Qi wore a grotesque smile. With every step he took forward, the ground beneath his feet oozed thick demonic qi.
With a thought from Feng Shi, another identical yellow-clad child split off from the original one a moment later.
With this, the three summoning opportunities for the Lianxin Puppets were exhausted.
Feng Shi manipulated one of the puppets to stand protectively in front of Shen Songhe.
Seeing Feng Shi’s clear distinction between friend and foe, Pei Qi’s brow furrowed. A massive surge of irritability welled up in his heart, causing his shoulders to shake uncontrollably.
The “dog” he had raised was wagging its tail at someone else.
Pei Qi considered himself a possessive person; he could not tolerate betrayal.
He laughed in fury. His pressure bore down directly on Feng Shi, wanting to see him unable to endure it, kneeling before him and unable to lift his head. Only then did he feel a sliver of gratification.
“A disobedient puppy has no need to live.”
“Since you are sincerely looking for death, this Venerable will fulfill your wish,” he said with a grin, his face appearing beautiful yet eerie.
Feng Shi was pinned to the ground by the pressure. He forced his head up, a bead of sweat gathering on his forehead and sliding down his high nose. His plump, pale lips were still slightly curled in a sneer. “I was never your property.”
These words seemed to strike a nerve. Emotion swirled in Pei Qi’s eyes. The bone fan behind his back spun and suddenly flew toward Feng Shi.
Feng Shi lowered his eyes.
The puppet was connected to its master’s heart, and he controlled it with his mind.
As the bone fan flew toward them, the child by his side opened his eyes, which were black and hollow.
He opened and closed the iron umbrella, stepping forward. The massive impact caused the ground to cave in, forming a deep pit.
The bone fan and iron umbrella collided, creating an ear-piercing grinding sound.
The spiritual energy ripple was so vast that the people outside the domain could barely stand.
The barrier Pei Qi had set up nearby loosened from the impact, and tiny cracks began to appear.
Outside the barrier, many cultivators were drawn to the scene. Seeing Pei Qi so blatantly bullying members of the righteous sects, they were filled with indignation. Yet, they didn’t dare to actually speak out. They could only watch from the outside, silently breaking into a cold sweat for Feng Shi.
Pei Qi’s eyes were bloodshot. He stared at Feng Shi’s expression with a manic smile, trying to see fear or a plea for mercy on his face.
If Feng Shi truly begged for mercy and acted cute like he did at the beginning, Pei Qi might actually consider sparing his life.
However, there was none.
On that beautiful face, there was only that expression he hated most!
That stubbornness and refusal to submit only made him want to snap the boy’s hands and feet!
Whether he turned him into a “human pig,” or made him blind and mute—anything was fine as long as this person remained forever prostrate at his feet!
Thinking of this, Pei Qi increased the force in his hands, pushing the pressure even harder.
The iron umbrella in the puppet’s hand was scrapped in an instant. Feng Shi continuously withdrew magical artifacts and treasures from his account, but he still remained at a disadvantage.
Blood seeped from the corner of Feng Shi’s mouth. His knees pressed deep pits into the ground, and gravel cut into his flesh. Faint spots of red began to bloom on his white brocade robes.
Now, aside from the Heart-Piercing Arrow, he had no other means to counter Pei Qi. He was truly at a dead end.
He looked back at Shen Songhe, who was similarly pinned to the ground not far away.
Feng Shi thought to himself: Could it be that today is really the day I fall?
But…
Feng Shi was unwilling.
He still had many things to do. He had only just obtained two of the medicinal ingredients. He hadn’t yet repaired Shen Songhe’s Golden Core or changed his fate…
One of the Lianxin Puppet’s arms had already been sliced off. Its combat power was greatly reduced. It would surely be defeated within three moves.
Feng Shi’s shoulders trembled. He closed his eyes.
The pressure weighed down in layers. Warm blood slid down his arm to his fingertips, dripping onto the ground.
Beside him, the Lianxin Puppet had been cut into countless pieces by Pei Qi’s bone fan. Inside its body, the spiritual stones that hadn’t been used in time fell all over the ground.
Feng Shi hung his head, motionless as if he had lost all life, with only his hem and hair fluttering in the breeze.
A moment later, he suddenly erupted with a powerful surge of spiritual energy, leaping up and charging toward Pei Qi.
A desperate strike by a cultivator burning their longevity and blood essence—this was his last chip.
The smell of blood filled Feng Shi’s nose and mouth. Because of the intense pressure, beads of blood seeped through his skin, staining his white robes red.
Seeing this, Pei Qi’s eyes filled with intense interest. The bone fan swirled and flew before Feng Shi, slicing into the back of one of his legs.
A burst of blood followed.
Feng Shi gritted his teeth to endure the agonizing pain, but he was unable to move as a result.
The black silhouette followed, turning into a cloud of black mist. In the blink of an eye, it reappeared near Feng Shi. With a snap, the bone fan closed and returned to Pei Qi’s hand.
A strange light flickered in Pei Qi’s eyes. His strong desire for conquest was ignited; he felt excited by the death throes of his prey.
The pale folding fan, carrying a bone-chilling yin aura, gently lifted Feng Shi’s chin.
Feng Shi looked up. His eyes were as black as ink, but his emotions were unreadable.
The originally ferocious Pei Qi was momentarily dazed.
Time seemed to instantly rewind to three years ago.
Back then, Feng Shi was just like this, looking at him with bright, puppy-like eyes, tugging on his sleeve and begging for help.
He even said he was willing to be his dog.
A piece that had been missing from his heart for a long time seemed to be strangely filled in this moment.
Pei Qi wanted to pat the puppy’s head, but the madness grew and flourished immediately after.
A voice in his heart kept screaming—he wanted to destroy Feng Shi!
He wanted that face to be for him alone!
He also wanted those eyes to hold only him!
However, it was in this moment of distraction…
Feng Shi’s goal had been achieved.
He continuously chanted in his heart, activating the second “Heart-Piercing Arrow.”
“Are you afraid?” Seeing him stop struggling, Pei Qi raised an eyebrow with pleasure. A hand made of demonic qi replaced the folding fan, tightly gripping Feng Shi’s chin. “If you want me to let you go, fine.”
“But…” He turned his head, his eyes as sharp as blades as they swept toward the pale Shen Songhe nearby. He curled his lips playfully. “I want you to kill him with your own hands.”
Feng Shi chuckled, but he didn’t respond to the words. He tilted his head back, his eyes catching the dim light of the grey sky. The blood on his lips was slightly dry, appearing a piercingly bright red.
Before him, a row of yellow characters appeared on the flashing blue system panel.
[The hit rate at this distance is too low. Are you sure you want to use the item “Heart-Piercing Arrow”?]
Feng Shi’s gaze passed through the semi-transparent panel, locking onto Pei Qi’s face. A bone-chilling coldness resided in the depths of his eyes.
“Con-firm.”
The large characters on the system vanished instantly, replaced by a progress bar sliding rapidly forward.
The surrounding spiritual energy surged once again, condensing into an emerald-green short arrow between Feng Shi and Pei Qi.
The arrow whistled through the air, heading straight for Pei Qi’s already blood-stained heart.
