Chapter 54: Charging Interest
Ye Tingyun had never been in a relationship.
He hadn’t dated men or women, so he didn’t know if it was a setup or not.
At this moment, he only had one feelingâthe little cabbage he hadn’t even had the chance to raise yet had been snatched away by a pig.
The even worse news was that the pig was Chi Yuheng.
If it were anyone else, he could have stepped in as an elder brother and scrutinized their reliability. But that person was Chi Yuheng.
The person who had always looked after Ye Ran and raised him.
Ye Tingyunâs momentum as an elder brother completely withered away.
…
Ye Ran had a great time at the bar, and the others drank their fill.
Only Xu Huijiang, who had been drinking fruit juice like Ye Ran and Chi Yuheng, was fine. Everyone else was more or less tipsy.
The ones who drank the most were Pei Si and Chi Youchu.
They were so drunk they couldn’t tell north from south. When they just left the bar, Chi Youchu directly hugged a large tree, treating it like his biological brother.
Fortunately, there were many of them. Those who were only tipsy were responsible for carrying the two dead-drunk ones back. Chi Yuheng pushed Ye Ran back to their room.
It was late, but Ye Ran lay on the bed and still couldn’t sleep. He took out his phone to go online and play games. Playing alone was boring, so he immediately called for his teammates.
He called Chi Youchu, but no one answered. Ye Ran then called Xu Huijiang, and finally, someone picked up.
“Yangyang, come online and play games.”
Xu Huijiang was panting from exhaustion. “Can’t play. I’m about to be crushed to death by him.”
Instantly, Ye Ranâs gossipy heart started to stir.
“Who did you say you’re being crushed by?”
Xu Huijiang: “Chi Youchu, of course.”
“When he’s drunk like a pile of mud, heâs heavier than a pig.”
Ye Ran had almost forgotten that Xu Huijiang had to take Chi Youchu back to his room.
Sigh. One teammate was a drunken mess, and the other had become a free porter. Tonightâs rank matches were completely ruined.
Hanging up the phone, Ye Ran tossed it aside and wailed at the ceiling, “I’m so bored!”
As soon as he finished speaking, the spot beside him suddenly sank. “Didn’t you have enough fun tonight?”
Ye Ran slowly turned his head. His gaze first collided with Chi Yuhengâs open collar and his prominent, sexy Adamâs apple. Looking further up, he fell into a pair of eyes that were excessively clear.
There was no trace of haziness in them, only a sharp, somewhat playful light that was locked firmly onto him.
Ye Ranâs tongue felt like it was tied in knots. It took a while before he could speak properly, “Why… why are you so close to me…”
Chi Yuheng didn’t answer him directly. He only slowly leaned over, his shadow, carrying his body heat, enveloping Ye Ran and trapping him in a small corner.
His movements were slow, yet they carried the composure of a leopard eyeing its prey.
Ye Ran felt as if he were pinned to the spot, feeling every inch of his approach. He could even see the faint light on the man’s eyelashes.
“I’m here to collect interest,” Chi Yuhengâs voice was pressed lower, his warm breath brushing against Ye Ranâs reddened ear.
The distance between the two of them was terrifyingly close. Ye Ran could see his own reflection in Chi Yuhengâs pupils and feel the slight rise and fall of the other’s chest as he breathed.
He had been that close to Chi Yuheng more than once today, but during the day it was because his foot was injured, and at night it was because he lost a game.
Being this close now…
Ye Ran pursed his lips. “What interest?”
A faint smile played at the corners of Chi Yuhengâs mouth. His gaze fell on Ye Ranâs tightly pursed lips before slowly moving back to his reddened eyes. His tone was somewhat nonchalant, yet every word was clear.
“During the Dare tonight, you kissed me for more than ten seconds. It was twenty seconds.”
Seeing Ye Ranâs eyes widen instantly, Chi Yuheng continued with a shallow smile, “I’m a businessman. I never do a losing deal. You gained by kissing me for twenty seconds, so I’m going to kiss you backâcollecting interest along with the portion you kissed me.”
Ye Ran was choked up. “Charging interest for a game. You unscrupulous merchant.”
The smile in Chi Yuhengâs eyes deepened. “Whether it was a game or not, the fact that you kissed me is real.”
He paused, his fingertips lightly pinching Ye Ranâs chin. “Tit for tat. That’s only fair.”
During the days when his legs were controlled by the plot and he kept running to Chi Yuhengâs room, his lips were swollen every day. Today, because the kiss for the Dare was short, his lips were fine. Now that they were in their own room with no one else around, could his lips still be fine?
Ye Ran could already foresee what his lips would look like for a while.
His eyes kept darting around, calculating in his mind whether he could push Chi Yuheng away and hop away on one leg.
He was only halfway through his plan when his wrist was suddenly gripped and pinned firmly above his head by Chi Yuheng.
Ye Ran snapped back to reality, meeting the man’s smiling eyes.
“Thinking of running?” Chi Yuheng chuckled.
Ye Ran: “…”
How is it that none of my thoughts can escape Chi Yuhengâs eyes?
Right now, Ye Ran was like a fish on a chopping blockâunable to break free, unable to escape, left to be slaughtered.
Seeing that he had no choice but to pay back this interest, the sound of a video call invitation rang from his phone.
The ringtone was like a life-saving straw that Ye Ran grabbed tightly. He turned his head, his eyes straining to peek at the phone.
Once he saw who the video invitation was from, he shouted at the top of his lungs, “Your grandfather…”
Chi Yuhengâs hand didn’t let go of him; his eyes narrowed, and a trace of coldness flickered in his gaze.
Ye Ran hadn’t finished his sentence. Noticing the change in Chi Yuhengâs expression, it seemed he had some misunderstanding about those three words.
“I’m not cursing you! I’m saying Grandfather is calling!”
The large hand gripping Ye Ranâs wrist finally let go, though the curve at the corners of his eyes seemed somewhat displeased.
Ye Ran let out a sigh of relief. His lips had finally escaped a disaster.
Chi Yuheng picked up Ye Ranâs phone and accepted the video call.
As soon as the camera turned on, they saw Old Master Chi sitting in a rattan chair in the living room, holding a teacup. He had clearly been waiting for a while.
The old man originally thought he would see Ye Ran, but when his eldest grandsonâs face appeared on the screen first, he froze. He frowned and asked, “Why is it you?”
Chi Yuheng spoke calmly, “You don’t want to see me? Am I not your grandson?”
Whenever his eldest grandson spoke, he always managed to choke him up. Why was there so much resentment?
Old Master Chiâs hand holding the teacup froze in mid-air. He glared at the person on the screen. “We can wait until you’re back to see each other. Let me see Xiao Ran first.”
Chi Yuheng placed the phone on the table facing the bed and adjusted the angle so Ye Ran would appear more clearly in the camera. “He’s right here. Go ahead and talk to him.”
After saying that, he helped Ye Ran lean against the headboard, even grabbing a pillow to place behind him so he could be more comfortable.
Ye Ran allowed Chi Yuheng to handle everything while he showed a big smile to chat with the old man.
The old man was momentarily stunned when he saw Ye Ran. His focus was entirely on his leg, which was wrapped up like a club.
“Xiao Ran, what happened to your leg? Why is it wrapped like that?”
“Grandfather…”
To the old man, Ye Ran would always be a child who hadn’t grown up.
Upon seeing the old man, Ye Ran always liked to act spoiled, just like when he was a child.
However, the scene before the old manâs eyes turned into something else entirely.
“Was your leg broken by Yuheng because you caused trouble?”
