Vicious Cannon Fodder, But a Squeamish Heartthrob chapter 56

Chapter 56: The Money Was Stolen

Although Yu Deng had a soft personality, he was being bullied to his face. He wasn’t a coward and couldn’t stomach the insult, so he banged on the door twice with significant force and shouted a harsh warning to those outside.

“Try it! I want to see who dares to break in. If you tear down my door, I’ll have Zhou Yuejun go to your houses and tear you apart!”

“Keep shouting! Anyway, Zhou Yuejun is coming back any minute!”

In reality, it was still early; Zhou Yuejun wouldn’t be off work for another two hours.

But Zhou Yuejun’s name was like an evil god; it could serve as a door guardian or even make children cry.

When Yu Deng spoke Zhou Yuejun’s name, his confidence was at its peak.

The young man’s hands were tender, with the texture of creamy white jade. After being knocked against the door, a small patch had turned red.

Hearing that Zhou Yuejun was coming back, the people outside were instantly terrified. They didn’t dare to linger at the door anymore for fear of being held in a grudge.

They were all ordinary citizens; naturally, they wanted to stay away from those underworld types. Who would want to be targeted and invite trouble upon themselves?

So, the crowd now only focused on persuading Zhou Aifeng: “Auntie Zhou, what could his family possibly take from you? Just wash up and go to sleep.”

Zhou Aifeng was getting on in years, after all. After causing a scene for a while, her energy flagged.

Yu Deng sneakily pressed his ear against the door to listen for movement and felt that they had probably left.

But after Yu Deng fell asleep, Zhou Aifeng came back again.

Woken up while having a friendly chat with the Duke of Zhou, Yu Deng really wanted to open the door and give Zhou Aifeng two kicks.

But he didn’t. He could only kick his legs on the bed in a fit of impotent rage. “Aaaaaah…”

“Zhou Yuejun, come back quickly and take that old woman away!”

Yu Deng rolled over, his face pressed into the pillow. Since he had just woken up, he was like a little bean sprout—wilted and unable to even open his eyelids.

So sleepy~

He really should buy two math books to read or a CD of lullabies.

Zhou Yuejun was worried and came back early today.

Before he even entered the stairwell, he heard the “clanging” sound of the door being hammered.

Using hands and feet was exhausting, so Zhou Aifeng had gone home to bring a stool and a hammer. She leaned against the wall with her eyes squinted, and every now and then—when her head lolled or she remembered—she would give the door a couple of whacks.

Zhou Yuejun sent a kick into the stool, scaring Zhou Aifeng so much she jolted. Her butt slipped, and she fell directly onto the ground.

“Ouch…”

Not only did Zhou Aifeng’s tailbone suffer, but she also strained her waist.

There were no lights in the hallway. The flashlight in Zhou Yuejun’s hand flickered, making his face look like a pale, ghostly monster—a literal Shura. Zhou Aifeng was scared half to death.

“How are you—” back so early.

Zhou Yuejun’s raspy, violent voice was terrifying: “Get lost.”

Zhou Aifeng knew Zhou Yuejun was not to be messed with, so she could only grab her stool and scramble away.

Zhou Yuejun inserted the key into the lock. After the door was pushed open, Yu Deng, who was standing behind the door, suddenly lunged onto him.

Zhou Yuejun caught him smoothly, supporting his rounded curves. His large hands cupped and covered them, nearly unable to hold everything.

After picking him up, Zhou Yuejun even gave him two gentle bounces.

The rich, intoxicating fragrance filled his nose and rapidly surged through every pore of Zhou Yuejun’s body. It didn’t just merge into his flesh and blood; it broke down his hard bones.

It made his body soft and his bones hard.

Furthermore, Yu Deng’s weak legs were wrapped around his waist, and his hands were firmly hooked around the back of his neck.

Zhou Yuejun was almost suffocated by the pleasure.

What was the difference between this and Yu Deng holding his entire being firmly within that moist, soft warmth?

“You’re finally back! You have no idea how wicked she is!”

Yu Deng was exhausted. Half-awake, he let out a yawn.

He wanted to complain, but his eyelids kept trembling, narrowing into mere slits. His delicate, charming whispers were laced with grievance, hoping Zhou Yuejun would stand up for him.

Yu Deng rubbed against the crook of Zhou Yuejun’s neck, searching for a comfortable position.

As their necks pressed together, their body temperatures merged. The steady breathing, however, made Zhou Yuejun’s heart race more wildly than any extreme intimacy.

He held Yu Deng like he was soothing a child, coaxing him to sleep.

“Go to sleep. Tomorrow we’ll go—”

“We’ll go stay at a guesthouse.”

He still didn’t want Yu Deng to go to Qiao Fangyu’s house.

Until early morning, a ghost-like wailing and howling made Zhou Yuejun suddenly open his eyes.

The young man in his arms was also disturbed. He furrowed his brows, looking very unhappy, and subconsciously whimpered twice. His soft moans sounded like he was about to cry, and he shrunk further into Zhou Yuejun’s embrace.

When the door was pounded on, Yu Deng woke up completely because the noise couldn’t be blocked by two sets of doors.

It felt like there were a lot of people.

Yu Deng sat up from the bed. He couldn’t even open his eyes, but his mouth was already pouting, and he looked a bit dazed.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Zhou Yuejun getting up. “I’ll go take a look. You don’t need to get out of bed.”

Yu Deng loved to sleep in. He had only slept for five hours; normally, he would sleep for nine or ten.

Like a little puppy, he burrowed into the bed and cursed Zhou Aifeng thoroughly.

Zhou Yuejun opened the door, and the various sounds rushing into his ears became clearer. It also allowed him to see the dense crowd of people in front of him.

The hallway was packed with people. Standing before him were two police officers in uniform.

Zhou Aifeng was being supported by someone, already crying her heart out, unable to even stand.

Now, seeing Zhou Yuejun, she became hysterical, pointing her finger at him with bloodshot eyes.

“It’s him! It’s him! Comrade Police, it must be him who stole my money! It’s them! Hurry up and arrest them all!”

“My money! My money, oh…”

After the commotion last night, plus the piercing wails of the morning, Zhou Aifeng’s voice was hoarse. Her eye bags were swollen high, and her hair was a mess—she didn’t even look human.

She tried to rush toward Zhou Yuejun but was held back by the police and several others.

Zhou Aifeng’s grating voice annoyed Yu Deng. Hearing her cry again, he sat up with a der, got out of bed without even putting on shoes, and stepped onto the grey cement floor with his snowy-white soles. He was now fully awake.

Stolen money?

Zhou Aifeng’s money was stolen?

Yu Deng hid behind Zhou Yuejun, peeking out with innocent, watery cat-like eyes to observe the people.

So many people.

The police couldn’t just listen to Zhou Aifeng’s one-sided story; they had to conduct an investigation.

“Zhou Aifeng’s money went missing this morning. We’ve come to get some information from you. We hope you’ll cooperate.”

Zhou Aifeng was still pounding her chest and stamping her feet, her expression sinister. “What investigation? He’s the one who stole it! Why haven’t you arrested him yet!”

The police were also getting a headache from Zhou Aifeng’s shouting. “Comrade, we are questioning him right now. Please keep quiet!”

Zhou Yuejun felt Yu Deng clinging behind him. He opened his mouth with a lazy, cold indifference. “Ask away.”

Compared to the unreasonable Zhou Aifeng, although Zhou Yuejun was a bit cold, he was easier to communicate with. The police proceeded with their routine questioning.

“Where were you around 2:30 AM this morning?”

Zhou Yuejun’s face was expressionless. “At home, sleeping. With my younger brother.”

Because there were no other witnesses, the police did not lower their guard.

Zhou Aifeng was still muttering, “It’s him! It’s no one else but him!”

“Nonsense! It wasn’t him at all!”

Yu Deng only showed half of his fuzzy head to the crowd. Because he hadn’t rested well, there were dark circles under his eyes. His eyes were wide, and when he retorted, his voice was crisp and sweet.

“Since you suspect him, what evidence do you have?”
