Chapter 116: Life is Full of Spectators
Halfway through the application, Wen Ling wrinkled his face and said, “It seems to hurt a bit.”
“Huh?” Cheng Ge’s first thought was an allergic reaction. “Does it hurt a lot? Is it itchy?”
“It’s not itchy, just painful,” Wen Ling furrowed his brows. “It seems to be hurting more and more.”
It gave Cheng Ge a fright. He hurriedly used a wet wipe to clean it off Wen Ling and then used a warm, damp towel to wipe Wen Ling’s face clean.
“Does it still hurt?”
“A little bit.” Wen Ling blinked and said after a moment, “It seems to have stopped hurting.”
Seeing that there was nothing unusual on Wen Ling’s face, Cheng Ge let out a sigh of relief. To be safe, he first smeared a bit on Wen Ling’s hand and also applied a layer to his own hand. The result was that Wen Ling’s hand also hurt a bit, and he himself felt a slight stinging sensation.
Cheng Ge didn’t believe in superstitions. With so many recommendations, it shouldn’t be a product issue, and an allergy seemed unlikely. Finally, Cheng Ge smeared a layer of face cream on half of his own face and waited for the effect.
He met Wen Ling’s curious and worried gaze and reached a conclusion: “It seems I don’t feel anything.”
After a moment, Cheng Ge looked at Wen Ling with wide eyes: “It seems I’m feeling something now.”
Finally, Cheng Ge tilted his head, closed his eyes, and furrowed his brows. He let out a speechless “Whoa.” “It hurts like hell!” Having said that, he ran off to wash his face.
Cheng Ge ran to ask the customer service. He argued with them for a long time. The final conclusion was that both of their skins were too dehydrated, and the stinging was caused by a damaged skin barrier. They needed to use repair products first, then supplement with moisture and hydration.
There were a whole lot of rules, like starting with a small area before applying to a large one, and dabbing before smearing. Cheng Ge patiently followed every single one.
After persisting for two or three days, Wen Ling no longer felt pain when applying the face oil. His face was no longer flushed and was very smooth. His cheeks looked like freshly peeled eggs; Cheng Ge often wanted to take a bite.
Whether Cheng Ge took a stealthy bite while kissing, even he wasn’t sure. In short, the texture was quite good.
Wen Ling loved Cheng Ge helping him apply the face oil, and he also loved helping Cheng Ge apply it.
Cheng Ge found having face oil on his face uncomfortable and didn’t like it much, but Wen Ling insisted on applying it for him. He was eager to try every time, and with those round glassy eyes staring at him, no one could say “no.” Thus, Cheng Ge let Wen Ling play.
Wen Ling was absolutely never well-behaved when there was physical contact. At first, he restrained himself, only applying it to the face, neck, or arms.
Later it progressed to the legs, stomach, and the like. Cheng Ge firmly refused. He didn’t feel anything when helping Wen Ling apply it, but the reverse made him feel extremely awkward. It was too inconsistent with his persona as a “Big Alpha Man”…
Most importantly, Cheng Ge could see exactly what was going through that fellow’s head!
But the dialogue was always like this:
Cheng Ge refused sternly: “No. Not applying it.” He wouldn’t do it even if it killed him.
Wen Ling had already dabbed a small glob of face cream on his finger. He looked up at the other: “Cheng Ge—”
Cheng Ge shuddered. He lowered his head and held his forehead. “I’m going crazy.”
Wen Ling was unhappy. He looked at him pitiably: “Are you scolding me? You won’t let me apply it and you’re even scolding me?” How could he be like that?
Cheng Ge laughed. “…I’m scolding myself.”
In the end, Wen Ling could always satisfy his heart’s desire by helping Cheng Ge apply this and that, occasionally succeeding in his “wicked schemes.”
Days passed warmly like that, matching Wen Ling’s earlier somewhat “chunibyo” words: “Our little life is going quite ‘moistly’.”
With final exam week approaching, days were busy yet fulfilling. There was only one match left in Cheng Ge’s team’s tournament, and the location was in the opponent’s school gymnasium.
Everyone just had to do their best. The result would be either first or second; in short, there was money to be had.
That final match was set for Saturday. Wen Ling seemed even more excited than Cheng Ge. No, Wen Ling had been very happy these past few days and was excessively well-behaved. It was as if something joyful was on his mind. He kept staring at Cheng Ge and would start smiling as he watched him.
Cheng Ge told him to “tell me about it,” but Wen Ling told Cheng Ge to “think about it yourself.”
As for thinking, Cheng Ge didn’t do much of it. Wen Ling’s little thoughts lately weren’t something he could guess. He was just happy to see Wen Ling happy and teased him for fun.
In the morning, Wen Ling got up early and consciously put on his thermal layers one by one. When Cheng Ge woke up, he even insisted on helping Cheng Ge get dressed.
Cheng Ge found this too childish and hilarious, yet he couldn’t win against Wen Ling’s stubbornness. He could only laugh helplessly and eventually really held out his arms for Wen Ling to help him dress.
In the past, the scene was always Wen Ling being unwilling to wear more layers. He would step out of the covers in just a thin shirt and start sneezing, only to be scooped back into the covers by Cheng Ge without a word and swiftly dressed.
After it happened many times, Cheng Ge would just pin the person down in the covers and dress him as he was about to wake up.
After Wen Ling finished dressing Cheng Ge, he carefully straightened the clothes for him. Mimicking Cheng Ge’s previous actions, he patted Cheng Ge’s shoulders.
Cheng Ge sighed with emotion. “If the past me saw this scene, he’d really be speechless enough to cough blood.”
“Huh?” Wen Ling’s little face wrinkled, and his eyes lost their roundness. He absolutely hated the words “cough blood.”
“Agh…” Cheng Ge’s heart was itching terribly. He suddenly leaned in and hugged Wen Ling tight, pressing and kissing Wen Ling’s face, sniffing the pleasant scent on his body.
He was too damn precious. He particularly wanted to bite Wen Ling. Cheng Ge sometimes felt he really was going crazy—too childish and too shameless… but he couldn’t help himself…
In the end, Cheng Ge only gave Wen Ling’s earlobe a light bite while kissing him.
It was only seven o’clock now, and the match started at ten. The two had gotten up quite early. Cheng Ge made egg and vegetable noodle soup. After eating and drinking their fill, they went to the school gates to meet up.
The entire team, including logistics and the cheerleading squad, consisted of about twenty people. Every time they left the school, they took a bus.
Wen Ling hated the smell of buses and felt dizzy from them. Every time, he would wear a mask and lean on Cheng Ge’s shoulder to sleep.
Today, Wen Ling couldn’t sleep. He grabbed Cheng Ge’s hand to play with.
Cheng Ge played with Wen Ling for a bit and scrolled through his phone for a bit. Suddenly, he let out a “Holy crap.” He scrolled back and forth on the screen, his eyes widening to twice their size.
“What’s wrong?” Wen Ling leaned over to ask.
“No—nothing. I’ll look again before I tell you.”
Ever since Cheng Ge and Wen Ling had been together, he had started following some dating circles.
After all, it was his first time in a relationship, and with a boy at that. There were surely many things he didn’t understand, so he always wanted to see how others dated for reference and study.
Right now, he was scrolling through a topic: “What is the most beautiful real-life CP you’ve ever seen?”
Many OPs had posted below. What caused Cheng Ge to curse was… he seemed to have seen himself and Wen Ling…
It was their backs as they watched the sunrise in the small pavilion that time. Wen Ling was leaning on his shoulder. Although it had been blurred, Cheng Ge recognized Wen Ling’s back at a glance.
So someone had been there that day…
The caption was like this: [Took this at the school’s small pavilion that day. Holy crap, the scene made my corpse feel warm, who understands!! It just gave the feeling that they would live happily until their hair turned white! (Will delete immediately if it causes offense)]
[The taller one on the left should be the 1 (Little A), and the thinner one on the right leaning on him should be the 0 (Little B). (I don’t care, they absolutely are!!!)]
[The story goes like this: Little B encountered a bit of trouble in class before. Little A was worried about Little B, so he often accompanied him to class. That was when I started following them. But back then, I didn’t know they were a couple; I thought they were brothers. I even liked Little A a bit. After all, he accompanied him to class, helped carry his backpack, and even massaged Little B’s neck and brought him food. So warm! Most importantly, he’s handsome, and he’s especially, especially handsome playing basketball!!!]
[But ever since I knew they were a couple, I instantly started shipping them like crazy. Little B usually looks like a very silent and aloof person…]
After Cheng Ge finished reading that long string of text and the several posts below expressing envy and blessings, he felt a strange sensation in his heart.
The most direct feeling was “Life is full of spectators.” That OP even knew about such tiny things?
Secondly, he felt a bit of joy and excitement? Because he and Wen Ling were being recognized and blessed. Blessings always brought good luck.
“Cheng Ge, have you finished reading?” Wen Ling’s head nuzzled clingily against Cheng Ge’s shoulder.
Cheng Ge looked at Wen Ling and smiled. His eyes darted around, and he said with a grin: “I’ll read it to you, okay?”
“Okay.” Wen Ling nodded.
