Chapter 55: The Most Bestial are the Well-Dressed
The moment those three words were spoken, the entire room fell into silence.
Only Zhou Tiantian had a look of curiosity as she pulled out her phone to search: “What is it? Never used it. Does it ‘lock’ a crystal chemistry experiment? Is it a new hint for the quiz? Why haven’t I reviewed it?”
Mu Feng also realized. He reached out to block the screen. “Don’t be curious. Kids will go blind if they watch.”
“You really are getting more and more capable.” Lu Zhuo pinched Jiang Yu’an’s face viciously. “Is your brain filled with nothing but alcohol and toys?”
“I’m doing this for Mu-bao’s sake!!!” Jiang Yu’an defended himself. “Omegas always suffer a bit. Besides, chastity is a man’s best dowry. A Liang Yuhang like this can make me find him a bit more pleasing to the eye.”
Lu Zhuo said slowly, “Have you ever thought that this thing might eventually be used on Mu Feng?”
Jiang Yu’an: ???
That single sentence made Mu Feng immediately think wild thoughts.
Brother Lu, say more. I beg you.
Liang Yuhang glanced at his flushed face and let out a laugh. “Anyway, I’m not using it.”
“Then how can I trust that you won’t touch our Mu-bao?” Jiang Yu’an’s expression was very serious. “It’s not like I can crouch under your bed every day.”
Liang Yuhang: “…”
What a difficult guy. Noisier than even 0717’s mouth.
Mu Feng put the gift back into the box and gave an awkward laugh. “Rest assured. I still have a bit of defensive capability; what can he do to me?”
Moreover, if Liang Yuhang were willing, he would immediately lie flat and let the man play.
“Your combat score just barely passed. What defensive capability do you have? You’d be taken down as soon as he raises a hand.” Jiang Yu’an’s combat power was at its peak.
Mu Feng sighed. He wanted to say he was faking it, but there were too many false impressions he’d created; for a moment, he didn’t know where to start explaining.
Liang Yuhang spoke up, “Rest assured. I’m not that ‘bestial.’ I’ll take the gift for now. Thanks for the sentiment.”
It sounded incredibly sarcastic.
Jiang Yu’an looked him up and down, his face full of distrust. “Generally, the people who are dressed most elegantly are the most bestial.”
“Alright, alright, alright.” Mu Feng quickly cut in before the sparks of war could ignite again. “You truly are the best friend in the world who considers me most. How could there be such a handsome and kind-hearted young master? It’s truly the fortune I’ve built up over eight lifetimes.”
Jiang Yu’an was made light-headed by the flattery and said arrogantly, “That’s right. Don’t you see who I am?”
Zhou Tiantian spoke up belatedly, “So it’s ‘locked’ down there? Who is it for?”
The scene fell into silence once again.
This topic really couldn’t be turned over.
The engagement banquet was set for Saturday.
Zhou Tiantian went along with Jiang Yu’an. As soon as they entered, it was like “Grandma Liu entering Prospect Garden,” full of lamentations. (TL Note: A Chinese idiom for a person being overwhelmed by a grand or wealthy setting).
“Wow! Are all the flowers here real? This is too extravagant.” “Wow! Everyone looks so wealthy. Is this high society?” “Wow! Truly a wealthy family alliance. The accompanying gift is gold bars!”
The ceiling of the entire venue was over ten meters high, and every corner within sight was covered with white roses. It looked pure white and holy.
But Jiang Yu’an was very disdainful. “Hick. Can you keep it down?”
“I’ve never seen this before.” Zhou Tiantian reached out to scratch her hair, not feeling inferior at all. Her eyes were full of the excitement of seeing the world. “When you get married, I’ll lament once again.”
“What’s with your hair?” Jiang Yu’an stared at her. The original green hair had been bleached into pink, and she actually looked a bit sweet and beautiful. “I just barely got used to your green hair.”
“Ah, I specifically bleached it to attend the wedding. Looks good, right?” After Zhou Tiantian finished feeling smug, she looked up and saw the damnable Liang Jingyi. Her gaze changed instantly.
“Your expression is terrifying. Who do you want to ‘knife’?” After Jiang Yu’an spoke, he looked over and also put on the same face. “Count me in for the team; I want to knife him too.”
Liang Jingyi was walking toward the dressing room. The two hurried to follow.
Inside the room, Mu Feng had changed into a custom-made suit and was studying how to tie the tie. “How do you do this?”
Liang Yuhang reached out, grabbed his tie, and pulled it toward himself. “I’ll do it.”
Mu Feng lowered his eyes and discovered that the pattern on his tie was the same as the floral pattern on the other man’s black suit. “Did you ask the designer to do it this way?”
“Hmm?” Liang Yuhang wore formal wear long-term; his movements to tie the tie were crisp and neat. “Yes. It matches better this way.”
“We look like a real couple.” Mu Feng felt he was falling into an illusory dream. The light-headed feeling from a few days ago continued to this moment.
He and Liang Yuhang were really getting engaged.
Liang Yuhang’s fingers were still hooked on his tie. He gave it a tug that was neither light nor heavy. “Nervous?”
Mu Feng nodded, not daring to look at him. “A bit. I’m afraid.”
He always felt that today was too calm—so calm it felt like the quiet before a storm, like something big was about to happen.
“Afraid of what?” Liang Yuhang gave a very light laugh. “Want some comforting?”
Mu Feng raised his hands, making a gesture of a void. “I want a hug.”
Liang Yuhang gave the tie another tug, applying a bit of force, and pulled the boy into his arms. “It’s fine. Even if the sky falls, I’m still here.”
Mu Feng felt safe, lying quietly in his arms until the door pushed open.
He looked up and met the gaze of the entering Liang Jingyi. His soft gaze instantly became dark.
“Teacher Liang, an annoying person has appeared.” Mu Feng reminded.
“What a ‘match made in heaven.’ You really can act.” Liang Jingyi braced himself on the wheelchair and stood up. He hadn’t completely recovered after all, so he leaned against the wall. “Who are you acting for?”
Liang Yuhang let go of the boy, his voice cold. “What are you still causing trouble for?”
“That’s my wife. I wanted him first.” Liang Jingyi was very persistent. “Don’t even think about getting engaged today.”
“Are you a three-year-old? You think you can do whatever you want? This is your sister-in-law.”
Liang Yuhang warned him, “A lot of media have come today. If you want the Liang family to lose face, go ahead and cause trouble.”
Liang Jingyi stared firmly at Mu Feng. “He’s mine. I should have marked him that day. No matter; there will be chances later.”
“Mark your uncle.” Mu Feng couldn’t resist giving his wheelchair a kick, sliding it over to hit the man’s calf. Liang Jingyi didn’t stand firm and fell back into the seat wretchedly.
After sitting firmly, he looked up and smiled. “It doesn’t matter. It’s just an engagement; you aren’t married yet. Only with a challenge does it get exciting.”
Mu Feng now somewhat understood Liang Yuhang’s feelings at the time.
Likely he knew his younger brother had pulled some tricks, but he was young then; on one side was the mother who needed saving, and on the other was the immature younger brother. He followed the will of heaven and took that risk.
What he received in return, however, was Liang Jingyi’s increasing provocations. Thus, his heart gradually turned cold.
Mu Feng had made up his mind to vent his anger for Liang Yuhang. Taking advantage of the fact that no one was around, he spoke nonsense, “Oh? Then if I have his child, will you still find it exciting?”
Liang Yuhang: ?
It didn’t have to be this steep. Suddenly becoming a father without any pain.
Liang Jingyi was also incredibly shocked. “Fake, right? I don’t believe it.”
Mu Feng continued the nonsense, “You’re about to be an uncle. Congratulations. Don’t touch me in the future. If the child is lost, who will it count as?”
Liang Yuhang wanted to smoke a cigarette to calm down.
Then he remembered Mu Feng had suddenly given himself a “pregnant” persona; he couldn’t even smoke. Unreal.
Liang Jingyi’s mouth twitched for a moment. “Impossible. Last time we… you were injured like that. You didn’t look like a pregnant person.”
“I have a good physique.” Mu Feng had already “broken the jar” (TL Note: Given up on his image), everything was aimed at driving the other man to death from anger. “You should think about how you became so weak. A pregnant Omega could stab you into the hospital.”
Liang Jingyi: “…”
The insult was extremely strong. He also couldn’t figure out how an Omega could have such strength, actually being able to defeat a Lieutenant Colonel.
Mu Feng reached out and pushed his wheelchair, driving him out the door. “Stop tossing and turning. If you don’t recover soon, your brain will be lost along with your kidney. If you don’t want to be a ‘happy father,’ then give up.” (TL Note: “Happy father” is slang for a man raising a child that isn’t his).
He hurried the man out, only to meet the gaze of the “free meal” duo whose mouths were wide open. He was instantly speechless.
Great. The nonsense was heard by two megaphones.
It’s going to take another eight hundred minutes to explain clearly. So tired.
“It’s not what you think.” Mu Feng watched Liang Jingyi’s wheelchair move away before lowering his voice. “I intentionally did it to spite him.”
Zhou Tiantian directly flopped down, her head pressed against his belly. “Mhm. No movement. But the time is so short, there probably wouldn’t be any movement anyway.”
Mu Feng: “…”
Meaning she didn’t listen to his explanation at all.
Jiang Yu’an was still in a brain-freeze state. He “you you you”-ed for a long time but couldn’t squeeze out another word.
Mu Feng moved his lips. “What should I say to make you believe I was talking nonsense?”
“No wonder you were in such a rush to get engaged.” Zhou Tiantian scratched her pink hair. “So that’s how it is.”
Mu Feng: “…”
“You really are too smart.” Liang Yuhang glanced at the time. The hour had arrived. He teased, “Let’s go. Pregnant Omega, do you need help?”
“Teacher Liang.” Mu Feng wrinkled his nose. “Whose side are you on? I’m angry.”
Liang Yuhang let out a laugh and raised his arm for the boy to hook. “Alright, stop teasing you. Let’s go onto the stage.”
Ah, this flirting. This mutual affection. Jiang Yu’an thought to himself that the gift had indeed been delivered too late.
He stared with wide eyes, “Didn’t we agree it was a fake engagement? Are you really pregnant?!?! AHHHH!!!! Liang Yuhang, I’ll kill you!!!”
