Part 2
Yun Yingzhi’s mouth twitched. He thought: She probably wouldn’t believe me if I told her. I didn’t bring the egg baby here; this little guy teleported here all by its impressive self.
As Yun Yingzhi thought this, Yun Yinghui placed the small basket on top of the incubator.
The nurse stepped forward and said, “There’s a backup battery inside the incubator for emergencies. It shouldn’t be used randomly unless necessary.”
Yun Yingzhi nodded.
The nurse said, “Well then, I’ll take the egg baby back.” After a pause, she added, “The little bunny baby probably can’t leave your side for now, so I’ll have to trouble you.”
Yun Yingzhi nodded blankly.
The nurse tried to take the incubator from Yun Yingzhi’s hands, but he held it tight, making it impossible for her to move it.
She looked at Yun Yingzhi in confusion.
Recalling the scene of the little egg baby crossing walls and air to find him, Yun Yingzhi said, “I think the egg baby can’t leave me for now either.”
The nurse shook her head and said, “Sir, you can’t be like this. I know you love your child, but you aren’t in a state to look after it properly right now.”
The nurse’s words made a lot of sense, but Yun Yingzhi was still worried about the egg baby. Especially since this cub had spatial abilities and absolutely no sense of its own limits. Its shell was so fragile, yet it dared to jump into mid-air—what if it fell and broke?
Originally, Yun Yingzhi hadn’t planned on revealing that the egg cub had spatial abilities before even hatching, but in this situation, he had no choice.
Yun Yingzhi briefly explained the egg cub’s situation.
The nurse froze, her pupils trembling.
As an employee of the Imperial Capital’s First Hospital, she had seen many extraordinary geniuses born here. But even so, she had never heard of an egg cub being able to control spatial abilities before hatching.
Forget seeing it in reality—she couldn’t even have imagined such a thing in a dream.
In fact, even after hearing Yun Yingzhi say it so clearly, she still found it hard to believe; it felt like her dream material had suddenly become real.
Yun Yinghui took the incubator from Yun Yingzhi and said, “Zhizhi, the baby is still too small. I’ll go with them.” After a pause, he added, “I’ll have Junyu come over and watch the baby to make sure he doesn’t run off.”
Yun Yingzhi nodded, only then feeling relieved enough to hand the egg cub over to Yun Yinghui.
Shan Junyu was one of Yun Yinghui’s good friends. He possessed a Limited Space Sealing ability, which could block skills like spatial jumps and teleports.
Yun Yinghui left with the little egg cub.
Another nurse entered to teach Yun Yingzhi how to care for the rabbit cub.
Looking at the little rabbit cub that was only the size of two fingers, Yun Yingzhi felt a wave of pity; it was truly too pathetic.
For such a tiny cub, it could only be fed milk with a syringe.
Yun Yingzhi had no experience, so the nurse coached him as he tried to feed the cub.
However, the cub refused to eat. Tiny as it was, it whimpered and cried, tears plopping down one after another.
Fine beads of sweat broke out on the nurse’s forehead as she grew anxious.
Yun Yingzhi said, “L-let me try?” As he spoke, he reached out toward the nurse.
And then…
The moment Yun Yingzhi cupped the rabbit cub in his hands, the crybaby cub stopped crying.
Nurse: “…”
Under the nurse’s speechless gaze, Yun Yingzhi took the syringe and fed the cub milk.
The cub was an exceptionally heavy drinker. Glug, glug, glug—it drank a huge amount before promptly peeing right into Yun Yingzhi’s hand.
Yun Yingzhi’s eyelids twitched, a look of disgust on his face.
The nurse helped wipe his hand.
Yun Yingzhi wiped the rabbit cub’s fragile little body and tried to put it back in the basket, but…
This little rabbit cub was incredibly clingy.
The instant Yun Yingzhi let go of it, it began to whimper and cry.
At first, it might have been a fake cry—just making noise—but then the tears started plopping down again.
Yun Yingzhi had no choice but to pick the cub up once more, and it stopped crying instantly.
Not long after, Yun Yingzhi tried to put it back again, and the cub continued to cry.
The man and the cub tried multiple times, and every single time was a failure. The cub cried whenever it was put down and stopped whenever it was held. And…
According to what the nurse had told Yun Yingzhi initially, the cub was tiny, fragile, and might have a poor appetite. But this cub was truly the same one that had been so good at “stealing” food while in his belly; its appetite was incredible.
Whenever it was hungry, it would cry even if Yun Yingzhi was holding it, so he had no choice but to keep feeding it.
Yun Yingzhi was very worried. Could there be something wrong with its body if it ate so much while being so tiny?
Thinking about it, he suddenly thought of himself. He had also eaten a lot since he was young. For the first time, he understood why Yun Yinghui always looked at him with such concerned eyes and always tried to control his portions.
Recalling carefully, Yun Yinghui really had worried himself sick over him. Now, he was worrying himself sick over the rabbit cub’s appetite.
Having had its fill, the rabbit cub drifted off to sleep, sprawled on Yun Yingzhi’s palm.
Refusing to give up, Yun Yingzhi tried to put the cub down once more. Amidst another wave of crying, he was forced to keep holding the fragile bunny.
Looking at the peacefully sleeping bunny, Yun Yingzhi felt a bit worried about the egg cub.
He sent a communication request to Yun Yinghui.
Yun Yinghui picked up the video call.
Statistically, the vast majority of people were born in infant form, but there were always a small number born in their second form.
Though the ratio was small, the Imperial Capital was particularly large with a high population, meaning that cubs born in egg form weren’t exactly rare.
All the egg-form cubs were placed in a large ward for newborn eggs. There were four rows, and the egg babies were all placed in identical incubators.
With one look, Yun Yingzhi immediately recognized which one was his.
It was because, among the large egg babies on all sides, his own egg cub was truly, incredibly tiny.
Suddenly, Yun Yingzhi’s eyelids jumped. He wasn’t sure if it was an illusion, but he thought he saw his egg cub move inside the incubator.
Yun Yinghui’s voice brought Yun Yingzhi back to his senses, and their eyes met.
Yun Yinghui said, “Zhizhi, don’t worry. I’ll have Junyu stay here and watch the baby for now.”
Two doctors and a nurse were standing beside Yun Yinghui and Shan Junyu.
One of the doctors said with a smile, “Actually, Mr. Yun, you don’t need to worry at all. We have anti-spatial-ability settings here. Unless it’s a special-type spatial ability, it’s generally impossible to—”
As the doctor spoke, everyone witnessed the following scene:
The little egg cub, along with its incubator, vanished right before their very eyes.
Yun Yingzhi: “…”
The group on the other end of the communication: “…”
Yun Yingzhi’s eyelids jumped wildly, and his hair stood on end as he prepared to receive the egg cub. However, it was clear that this egg cub didn’t have as good a sense of direction as Yun Yingzhi had imagined.
On the other end, Shan Junyu frowned slightly and told Yun Yingzhi not to worry; he could track the egg cub’s location based on spatial fluctuations.
Yun Yingzhi nodded anxiously. If he weren’t holding the rabbit cub, he would have desperately wanted to run out of the ward to find the egg cub.
Yun Yingzhi now felt that spatial ability was absolutely his least favorite ability—bar none.
An egg cub with spatial abilities was truly too much of a handful.
On the other end, Shan Junyu informed Yun Yingzhi of the egg cub’s movement trajectory.
Listening to Shan Junyu, the people following him realized that the egg cub was groping for the direction of Yun Yingzhi’s presence and then searching for it.
Finally, after circling the wards once, the egg cub finally appeared in Yun Yingzhi’s room.
With one hand clutching the rabbit cub, Yun Yingzhi used both arms to catch the falling incubator just in time.
Yun Yingzhi didn’t notice that the moment the egg cub appeared, the rabbit cub sleeping on his palm suddenly opened its eyes, glanced at the incubator, pursed its tiny mouth, and then closed its eyes again sleepily.
Both cubs were total clingy-monsters.
