Part 3
Fine beads of sweat appeared on Yun Yingzhi’s forehead.
Not long after, Yun Yinghui, Shan Junyu, and several doctors and nurses arrived at the ward.
The doctors and nurses repeatedly looked at the egg cub with gazes of wonder, feeling that this unhatched life was truly extraordinary.
Shan Junyu frowned slightly as he explained things to Yun Yingzhi.
The same spatial ability could be divided into different grades. Although the egg cub was small, his spatial ability belonged to the rarest top-tier category; he could bypass the vast majority of spatial seals.
If it were in battle, Shan Junyu’s spatial ability would seal off a huge area, and the egg cub would definitely be unable to break through. However, Shan Junyu couldn’t possibly be on guard against the egg cub like a thief every second of the day.
Yun Yingzhi roughly understood what Shan Junyu meant.
The egg cub’s spatial ability was hard to defend against, and Shan Junyu couldn’t maintain a high-intensity spatial seal at all times. After all, there was no way to guard against a “thief” for a thousand days.
Yun Yingzhi frowned slightly and looked at the doctors.
Everyone looked at each other.
Because the two newborn cubs were simply too clingy, there was no other way—the two cubs had to be left by Yun Yingzhi’s side to be cared for.
The doctors and nurses left.
As the door closed, Yun Yingzhi heard one of the nurses say through the door panel, “I’ve seen so many newborn children, but only these two today are the most clingy.”
“True. But the father of those two cubs is really good-looking.”
Amidst their sighs of admiration, Shan Junyu and Yun Yinghui observed the two cubs together.
Yun Yingzhi’s ears twitched. He heard the conversation between several doctors outside the ward again.
They said that according to Yun Yingzhi’s current condition, he was very healthy.
Very healthy in the literal sense—he didn’t need to be hospitalized at all. Staying there was a waste of a bed. However, because the two cubs were so small and couldn’t leave his side, they had no choice but to let him remain hospitalized.
Yun Yingzhi thought to himself that his constitution had never been particularly good, but as a military academy student, it had finally improved a little after years of exercise.
Shan Junyu tried to hold the rabbit cub on Yun Yingzhi’s palm, but as soon as it left Yun Yingzhi, it started crying, and then…
And then it peed on Shan Junyu’s hand.
Shan Junyu’s mouth twitched, and he silently handed the cub, who peed wherever it pleased, back to Yun Yingzhi.
The rabbit cub stopped crying immediately.
Sitting on the hospital bed, Shan Junyu casually asked Yun Yingzhi about the other father of the two cubs.
Yun Yingzhi’s eyelids jumped, and he felt Yun Yinghui’s gaze shift toward him.
After a pause, Yun Yingzhi skillfully changed the subject.
Before long, Nangong Qing and the others also came to the ward one by one to see the two cubs.
Yun Yingzhi was exceptionally well-behaved in front of these brothers and sisters, but whenever they asked about the cubs’ other father, he played dead.
It didn’t take long for Yun Yingzhi to discover the annoying side of having clingy cubs.
Yun Yingzhi wanted to go to the restroom. He placed the rabbit cub in the hands of Yun Yinghui or one of the others, but the cub would cry—the kind of crying where tears plopped down, which was heart-wrenching.
Yun Yingzhi was helpless; he couldn’t exactly take the rabbit cub into the restroom with him.
After forcibly letting go of the rabbit cub, Yun Yingzhi hurried to the restroom. Then, he felt a wave of spatial fluctuation.
He was familiar with this.
Yun Yingzhi’s mouth twitched. Luckily, he had finished his business by then. He hurriedly pulled up his pants and caught the incubator in his arms.
Through the door, Yun Yingzhi could hear the rabbit cub’s wailing.
Shan Junyu said, “The little egg baby has gone to find Yingzhi.”
Yun Yingzhi took a deep breath, set the egg cub aside, and washed his hands.
Nangong Qing’s voice came from outside the door: “Yinghui, the baby peed all over your hand. Quick, wipe it.”
Yun Yingzhi’s hand-washing motion paused. He subtly felt that the rabbit cub had done it on purpose.
He took a deep breath, dried his hands, and walked out of the restroom holding the egg cub.
As if sensing his approach, the rabbit cub’s crying noticeably weakened.
Yun Yingzhi set the incubator aside, sat on the bed, and reached out to Yun Yinghui, intending to pick up the rabbit cub.
But…
Right at that moment, the incubator did another spatial jump, consciously leaping onto Yun Yingzhi’s chest.
Yun Yingzhi’s eyelids twitched. At this time, his hands were still some distance away from the rabbit cub.
The rabbit cub seemed to sense that Yun Yingzhi was planning to hold it, and it had already stopped crying.
Then, centered on the incubator, after a wave of spatial fluctuation, the egg cub took Yun Yingzhi on a spatial jump.
The jump wasn’t far—it just took him into the restroom.
At the same time, Yun Yingzhi heard the rabbit cub’s heart-wrenching wailing.
Yun Yingzhi: “…”
Yun Yingzhi: “…………”
Yun Yingzhi looked at the egg cub in his arms.
Outside the door, Nangong Qing said, “That impressive egg baby—it already knows how to compete for favor before even hatching.”
Through the transparent glass cover, Yun Yingzhi saw that the white egg seemed to…
Not seemed to—it was spinning around and around, looking particularly smug.
Outside the door, the rabbit cub’s crying grew even louder.
Yun Yingzhi took a deep breath and walked out holding the incubator.
The egg cub did another spatial jump, taking Yun Yingzhi back into the restroom to have the father all to itself.
Outside, the rabbit cub’s crying paused for a second before letting out a “waah” as the volume went even higher.
Yun Yingzhi’s mouth twitched. He suddenly felt that it was better when the two cubs were still in his belly.
He really wanted to stuff the two cubs back in.
Translator’s Note: And so the great “Battle for Father’s Favor” begins! Who would have thought an unhatched egg could be so petty? And that little bunny cub is definitely a “scheming” little fellow, peeing on anyone who isn’t Papa. I honestly can’t stop laughing at poor Yinghui and Shan Junyu—the high-ranking soldiers being defeated by a palm-sized bunny and a thumb-sized egg.
