Chapter 211
Shen Shuyu couldn’t help but laugh. “Nowhere. I’m just getting some clothes.”
He tilted his chin, gesturing for Wen Jiafei to look aside. Wen Jiafei turned his head and saw Shen Shuyu’s coat. Without a word, he reached out his long arm, easily picked up the coat, and handed it to Shen Shuyu.
Shen Shuyu let go of Wen Jiafeiās hand and pulled a new terminal from the pocket.
He said, “I passed by a shop on the way back and just bought one for you.”
It wasn’t convenient for Wen Jiafei to buy a new terminal himself because they all required registration. Once he registered, the Ning family could easily find out.
But with Shen Shuyu registering one under his own name, the Ning family wouldn’t be able to find out, and the risk of being monitored through the terminal was avoided.
Shen Shuyu placed the terminal in Wen Jiafeiās hand. “I only saved my contact information and your auntie’s in there. You can use this to contact us after we return.”
Wen Jiafei opened his mouth; he hadn’t expected Shen Shuyu to be meticulous to this degree.
Shen Shuyu then pulled a somewhat crumpled business card from his pocket. “This is Ning Shan’s private business card. I think you’ll likely need to contact him too. I’ll leave the card with you.”
Wen Jiafei gave a low hum.
Speaking of Ning Shan, Shen Shuyu couldn’t help but ask again, “By the way, I have one more question for you.”
Wen Jiafei looked up. “What?”
“Why does Ning Shan help you so much?” Shen Shuyu asked. “Does he have some history with Auntie Wen?”
Wen Jiafei shook his head. “I don’t know the specifics.”
Shen Shuyu raised an eyebrow. It seemed if he wanted to know, he would have to ask Wen Yue. But his subconsciousness told him that he didn’t want Wen Yue to know about Ning Shan.
Wen Jiafei remembered something and added, “However, he was the one who helped when my mother and I left Siro back then.”
Shen Shuyu was shocked. “He helped?”
Wen Jiafei nodded. “I don’t remember the details clearly, I just remember he was the one who saw my mother and me onto the interstellar shuttle.”
Shen Shuyu recalled what Wen Yue had told him that night. The person she was originally supposed to marry wasn’t Ning Bai, but another member of the Ning family. Could that person… be Ning Shan???
He tried hard to remember. He had run into Wen Yue that night, and she happened to be with Ning Shan. Although the two didn’t say anything, the atmosphere between them clearly felt a bit indescribable.
And then, after he came down from Wen Yue’s room, heād run into Ning Shan carrying a packed dinner. That dinner wasn’t seen being eaten by him in the end, and Ning Shan had even asked him if Wen Yue was asleep. So clearly, the dinner was for Wen Yue.
Ning Shan had also been very keen for Wen Yue to return to Amour, repeatedly saying that Amour was safer than Siro. He didn’t want Wen Yue to be dragged into the turmoil of the Ning family.
Although Wen Yue didn’t say much, Shen Shuyu could sense she didn’t seem to have much of a guard against Ning Shan.
After Ning Shan invited him to coffee today and he asked that question, the pieces of the puzzle were actually already there; it was just that Shen Shuyu hadn’t thought in that direction.
Seeing Shen Shuyu not speaking, Wen Jiafei shook his hand. “What are you thinking about?”
Shen Shuyu snapped back to his senses. It was better not to tell Wen Jiafei about this for the time being. After all, it was Wen Yueās business, and Wen Jiafei seemed to have no idea at all.
Shen Shuyu said, “I was just thinkingācompared to the other Ning family members, this Ning Shan seems quite decent.”
Wen Jiafei pursed his lips and said, “It’s likely because he is the illegitimate son of the previous head of the Ning family.”
Suddenly hit with another piece of major gossip, Shen Shuyu was stunned. “Ning Shan is an illegitimate son?”
Wen Jiafei nodded. “It’s not a secret. He was only recognized by the Ning family at age ten and took the Ning surname.”
At that time, the previous head of the family was already married, and Ning Bai was nearly five years old. During an accidental scouting trip, the previous head had met Ning Shan’s mother. She had just graduated from the academy and was only a small internāin the prime of her youthāwhen she met that scumbag.
What followed was the classic trope of a domineering CEO falling in love. Ning Shan’s mother couldn’t withstand the previous head’s intense pursuit and soon fell for him.
She thought it was an idol-drama-like romance, but little did she know that by the time she became pregnant with Ning Shan, before she could even tell the previous head, his wife came to her door. Only then did she realize that the person she slept with every day was actually a fraud!
Although the previous head’s wife and he were an arranged marriage and she turned a blind eye to his private affairs, Ning Shan’s mother had crossed the line.
However, the previous head’s wife didn’t make things difficult for Ning Shan’s mother. She just gave her a sum of money and told her to leave Siro and never return.
Originally, Ning Shan’s mother was supposed to abort the child, but after lying on the operating table, she regretted it.
After giving birth to Ning Shan, she fell seriously ill a few years later. At the moment of her passing, she had the Ning family take him back.
No matter how good a temper the previous head’s wife had, she couldn’t completely let go of Ning Shan’s background. So Ning Shan grew up living at the whims of others.
The Ning family wasn’t particularly good to him, nor particularly bad; he just grew up caught in between. Ning Shan was very talented and entered the Ning Group directly after graduation. However, his status as an illegitimate son didn’t allow him to hold power. He could only serve under Ning Bai as his most capable assistant.
Hearing Ning Shan’s past, Shen Shuyu couldn’t help but click his tongue. If the matter between Wen Yue and Ning Shan was also true, then he really didn’t know how to describe Ning Bai’s scumbaggery.
“I see.” Shen Shuyuās mood was a bit complicated. Wen Jiafei leaned in and asked, “You seem very interested in Ning Shan today. Did he say something to you?”
“No,” Shen Shuyu said. “I was just curious why he would help you so unconditionally; I couldn’t find a suitable motive.”
Wen Jiafei buried his face into the boy’s shoulder and took a deep breath. His heart settled a lot once he felt Shen Shuyu by his side.
He replied, “We’ll see when the time comes.”
After saying that, he couldn’t help but add, “Can we not talk about other Alphas?”
He was in his rut, yet his Omega kept mentioning other Alphas. He was both aggrieved and sad, but the person in question had no idea.
Wen Jiafei felt his gland starting to heat up again. He took a deep breath; reason told him he shouldn’t be so emotional, but in his current state, he simply couldn’t control his feelings.
Shen Shuyu raised his hand and stroked his ear. “Alright, alright, alright. No more talking about it.”
Shen Shuyu thought of something and said while stifling a laugh, “Wen Jiafei, you’re acting quite like a little wife.”
Wen Jiafei murmured in his ear, “Sorry. Do you not like it? I just can’t control myself.”
“I don’t dislike it,” Shen Shuyu said. “Wen Jiafei, it’s quite nice.”
Actually, Shen Shuyu had seen long ago that Wen Jiafeiās nature wasn’t as cold as it appeared on the surface.
Although he didn’t like to talk, his heart was soft, and he was willing to go to any lengths for his friends. Rather than saying he was cold and aloof, it was more that he had grown up under long-term pressure and had to put on a hard shell to protect himself and his mother.
The rut had simply brought that suppressed side of his personality completely to the surface.
And his willingness to show this sensitive, emotional side to Shen Shuyu was actually telling him that he was facing him with all his heart and without reservation.
Shen Shuyu turned his head and gave him a kiss on the forehead.
Wen Jiafei felt the warm lips land on his forehead. He raised his head slightly, his gaze falling on Shen Shuyuās red lips. He pursed his own lips and leaned in to kiss him.
Shen Shuyu thought it would just be a light kiss, but as soon as Wen Jiafei leaned in, he pressed the back of Shen Shuyu’s head and deepened the kiss. Shen Shuyu was kissed until his limbs felt a bit weak. He instinctively leaned back a bit, and Wen Jiafeiās other hand wrapped around his waist, deepening the kiss further and frantically depriving Shen Shuyu of oxygen.
Feeling weak, Shen Shuyu couldn’t help but lean against the back of the sofa. Wen Jiafei released his lips but didn’t let him go, pressing his forehead against Shen Shuyu’s, their noses rubbing intimately.
Shen Shuyu felt his face heating up at the boy’s actions. He panted slightly and said, “Can you not act like you’ve been starving for days?”
It was unclear which nerve in Wen Jiafeiās brain those words touched, but he closed his eyes again and kissed Shen Shuyu. Although his ears were already red, his actions weren’t shy at all as he continued the intense attack. Shen Shuyu was almost unable to hold him off. In the intervals between kisses, he said indistinctly, “Wen Jiafei, you… you calm down.”
Wen Jiafei simply couldn’t be calm right now. He only wanted to be close to Shen Shuyuāwanted to use his gland teeth to bite open the gland at the back of the boy’s neck and pour his pheromones inside.
But the sliver of reason he had left told him he couldn’t yet.
Since he couldn’t bite open Shen Shuyuās gland, he used other ways to relieve the agitation in his heart.
Dingā
The doorbell rang.
Translator’s Note:
Hi everyone! Oh man, that cliffhanger! Who could it be at the door? And can we just talk about Wen Jiafei? He’s so clingy and jealous in his rut, it’s adorable! Shen Shuyu is such a pro at handling him.
See you in the next one! I need to find out who’s at that door!
