Are You Kidding Me! After Three Years as a Stand-in, You Say I’m the White Moonlight? Chapter 23

Chapter 23: Able to Sleep While Holding Someone

Once he learned that there was a portion of breakfast for him, Zhou Sijin was no longer in a hurry.

Following Chen Wei’s gaze, he glanced toward the kitchen and nodded. Zhou Sijin pulled his hand back, turned, and left.

Fortunately, he’d had the foresight yesterday to buy his daily necessities in advance.

After a quick wash, Zhou Sijin returned to the living room to find Chen Wei already clearing the plates from the table.

He followed Chen Wei into the kitchen.

He watched as Chen Wei placed the dishes in the sink, applied detergent, and rinsed them clean with a few swift motions.

Even after putting the dishes away in the cupboard, Chen Wei showed absolutely no intention of serving him his meal.

After finishing, Chen Wei turned around.

Their eyes met.

Zhou Sijin started, “You…”

Quickly cutting him off, Chen Wei said with a composed expression, “I’m going back to the room to change my clothes first.”

With that, Chen Wei brushed past Zhou Sijin and walked straight out.

He left Zhou Sijin standing there alone.

It wasn’t until the sound of the bedroom door closing drifted through the glass into the kitchen that Zhou Sijin followed Chen Wei’s example. He opened the cupboard, took out the tableware, walked over to the stove, and began taking care of himself.

Since it was the weekend, Zhou Sijin didn’t have to go to the company, so his eating pace was notably slower.

By the time Chen Wei emerged in a fresh change of clothes, Zhou Sijin had just stuffed the last bite of his sandwich into his mouth.

Chen Wei ignored him and went about his own business.

Zhou Sijin sat there, sipping his porridge while keeping a steady gaze on him.

He watched as Chen Wei meticulously bundled himself up.

The sight was so comical that Zhou Sijin couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh.

Chen Wei turned to look at him.

Setting down his bowl, Zhou Sijin asked, “Are you going out?”

Chen Wei nodded. “I have an appointment to meet Director Zhang today.”

Zhou Sijin’s brows knit together. “Shall I go with you?”

Chen Wei declined the suggestion: “I’ll be fine on my own.”

He still remembered the scene at the restaurant yesterday.

With Zhou Sijin there, neither he nor Zhang Quan could truly relax, let alone discuss the details of their future cooperation.

Seeing his good intentions politely rejected, Zhou Sijin didn’t say much more, only offering a casual reminder: “Be careful on the road.”

As Chen Wei closed the door, he also shut out Zhou Sijin’s gaze within the apartment.

Only one person remained in the house.

Zhou Sijin withdrew his gaze and stared down at the items in front of him for a long time. Eventually, he stood up, gathered everything together, and carried them into the kitchen.

Standing by the sink and looking at the mess left on the counter and in the basin, Zhou Sijin suddenly realized a very serious problem.

Chen Wei had only cleaned his own tableware just now!

The frying pan, the pot, and the food scraps on the prep station—he hadn’t cleaned any of it!!!

At the moment, he was the only one in the house.

And he had a germaphobic streak.

He absolutely could not stand looking at this mess!

But Zhou Sijin, who had been born with a silver spoon in his mouth, when had he ever done such a thing?

Zhou Sijin lowered his head to look at his fingers.

These hands of his were meant for projects worth hundreds of millions at every turn.

He looked up again, and his eyes met the pile of uncleaned trash on the kitchen counter.

“…”

Zhou Sijin’s scalp suddenly felt like it was going to explode!

He stood there for a long time, taking a deep breath after a long pause. He pulled out his phone, found his assistant’s number, and dialed it quickly.

The call was answered almost immediately.

The moment the assistant’s voice rang out from the other end, Zhou Sijin didn’t hesitate. He first rattled off the address of Chen Wei’s home and then dropped a single sentence:

“You have half an hour. Either a ten-thousand-yuan bonus or a fifty percent cut to your year-end bonus. Choose one.”

The little assistant arrived fifty minutes later.

It was nearly double the time the boss had demanded, so the assistant was trembling with fear even as he knocked on the door.

Fortunately, after the door opened, the boss didn’t scold him.

He only gave him a glance, tossed him a pair of slippers, and turned around without saying a word.

The little assistant moved quickly to change his shoes and jogged to catch up with his boss.

He stood beside the boss, following the direction of his pointing finger with a confused look.

“Ten thousand yuan. Clean it yourself, or find someone else to clean it.”

Phew!

The little assistant let out a sigh of relief.

He thought it was something major.

Wasn’t it just washing some dishes?

Setting down his briefcase, the little assistant didn’t say another word. He rolled up his sleeves and walked straight to the sink to start cleaning.

Ten minutes later, the kitchen sink and the prep counter were as good as new.

Zhou Sijin kept his word. He found the assistant on WeChat and transferred the ten thousand yuan on the spot.

Looking at the numbers in his WeChat balance, the assistant’s face was practically blooming with joy.

If such a good thing as earning ten thousand yuan just for washing dishes happened more often, he wouldn’t mind doing it several times.

Only now that he was free did the little assistant have time to look around the apartment.

Looking at this place, which wasn’t even as large as the presidential suite the boss usually stayed in at hotels, the little assistant’s face was filled with shock.

Looking at his boss, the assistant’s voice was tinged with uncontrollable astonishment:

“Boss, you… you stayed here last night?”

Zhou Sijin’s gaze swept around the room again following the assistant’s words.

What was wrong with this place?

It was quite nice.

Though it was a bit small.

But he could sleep while holding someone, and there was someone to make breakfast for him in the morning.

Withdrawing his gaze, a hint of satisfaction appeared in Zhou Sijin’s eyes.

A moment later, however, his brows knit together with a touch of impatience.

He couldn’t possibly wait that long and call his assistant to help him clean up after every meal, could he?

Due to Chen Wei’s identity, he couldn’t exactly hire a maid openly either.

After a long pause, as if thinking of something, Zhou Sijin’s brow twitched. He quickly looked up at the little assistant in front of him.

“A few days ago, didn’t the R&D department send over an all-purpose robot?”

The assistant looked up and thought for a moment. There seemed to be such a thing.

However, that robot had eventually been set aside by the boss on the grounds that it was “useless.”

Zhou Sijin asked, “Can an all-purpose robot do housework?”

“Uh…” The assistant was stunned. He blinked and replied hesitantly, “It… probably can?”

Zhou Sijin nodded.

He took out his phone and transferred another sum of money to the assistant.

“Find someone to transport the robot here.”

The message Chen Wei had sent to Han Chi last night still hadn’t received a reply.

Sitting in a taxi, Chen Wei gave him a call.

Unfortunately, the call still went unanswered.

Chen Wei had no choice but to call Xiao Wu, the driver who usually drove for them.

Xiao Wu picked up very quickly.

Chen Wei got straight to the point, asking if he had seen Han Chi.

Xiao Wu sounded like he had just woken up, his tone still groggy:

“No. After I dropped Brother Han off at home yesterday, we didn’t get in touch again.”

Xiao Wu’s words didn’t seem to have any problems.

However, Chen Wei felt as if he had overlooked something.

If he had already gone home, why was the phone unreachable?

Right now, there was less than an hour left before the time agreed upon with Zhang Quan.

It wasn’t appropriate to break the appointment suddenly.

But he really couldn’t stop worrying about Han Chi.

While he was caught in this dilemma, Xiao Wu on the other end of the line seemed to finally recall something. He spoke tentatively over the phone:

“Brother Chen Wei, after you left yesterday, it seemed like Brother Han called Xu Cheng.”
