Chapter 120: Coldness
“Mr. Chi, Miss Ji Ke is indeed your biological daughter.”
“Here is the lab report.”
Under the hospital lights, Chi Yuzhou stared at the report.
This was a private hospital funded by the Chi family. The equipment was top-tier, and the doctors were under contract with the family; the results would not be wrong.
The red text was piercing. He said nothing.
“Father… so you really are my biological father.”
Ji Ke stepped forward and grabbed Chi Yuzhou’s arm, her eyes looking pitiful.
“My adoptive parents were killed by pollution entities recently. It was only then that I learned from a neighbor that I wasn’t their own, and that my father was likely you.”
“I’ve lived in poverty for nineteen years. I’ve never left Planet N-3. A few days ago, a fire destroyed the town of Qianfeng where I grew up. I had no home, so I came to find you. Even my ship ticket was paid for by a kind benefactor.”
She wept as she spoke. The story, designed with her system, was flawless. The coordinates for Planet N-3 were already in place, and she had even started the fire that leveled Qianfeng herself.
Chi Yuzhou’s gaze moved from the pale hand on his arm to Ji Ke’s unfamiliar face.
Was this girl truly his biological daughter?
If Chi Wan hadn’t changed—if she were still that cold, mechanical villainess—he might have felt relieved and accepted this.
But the weight Chi Wan now held in his heart, with her changes and those eyes that filled him with affection, was different.
One does not simply “swap” a daughter.
The heart is made of flesh and blood; it is not without feeling.
He simply nodded. “Since you are my daughter, you will naturally stay at the Chi residence.”
“However… you have an older sister. I hope you will get along with her.”
Ji Ke froze, feigning ignorance.
“A sister?”
“My beloved daughter, Chi Wan. She is currently missing. I am using all my resources to find her.”
After leaving the hospital, Ji Ke moved into the Chi residence and accepted Kui Chuan’s invitation to join the X-K Alliance.
On the starship, Ji Ke couldn’t help but complain to her system.
“I should have come sooner. I knew that after Chi Wan’s soul returned, she would do everything to win these people over.”
“That mechanical soul did evil for nineteen years, and yet Chi Yuzhou is still willing to keep her as a daughter.”
The system’s voice was cold and mechanical:
[Why do you care? Chi Wan’s soul isn’t even in this star system anymore. She likely fled in advance.]
At this, Ji Ke’s mood improved. She sneered. “Coward.”
[It’s only natural for her to run. There are very few in the Master Space who can compete with us, and she was matched with a garbage system.]
[With her gone, everything in the Chi family will be yours once Chi Yuzhou dies. Don’t worry about it. If he doesn’t treat you well, we’ll just find a way to make him die sooner.]

Ji Ke’s eyes darkened.
She knew. The system had reminded her long ago.

Ji Ke’s lips curled into a smile.
Just thinking about the plot to come made her heart race with anticipation.
Seven handsome men. She truly couldn’t wait.
When the ship landed, Kui Chuan began to introduce the Alliance to Ji Ke.
“Should I call you Miss Chi Ke, or Ji Ke?”
“My ID hasn’t been updated yet. Just call me Ji Ke for now.”
Ji Ke was her real name. It felt right to enjoy all of this under her own name.
“Very well, Miss Ji Ke. As you can see, this is the X-K Alliance.”
Ji Ke looked ahead. The seven-meter-high anti-pollution walls were made of a material she recognized only from sci-fi movies. Linear lights flowed through the barrier. Beyond the security gates, white interstellar skyscrapers stretched as far as the eye could see. Countless tall Sentinels moved about, the air thick with military discipline.
Men. Everywhere she looked, there were men.
She had picked the right world.
Ji Ke nodded with satisfaction. “It looks very good.”
“Please follow me. I’ll show you around the Alliance.”
Ji Ke followed Kui Chuan, her eyes darting between the Sentinels watching them.
“I heard the X-K Alliance is led by seven top Sentinel Commanders. Where are they?”
Kui Chuan’s footsteps faltered.
His brow furrowed.
He had sent word in advance that an over-SSS Guide was arriving and had asked them to send someone to receive her.
Why hadn’t a single one shown up? No one had even replied to his messages.
He made up a quick excuse, smiling.
“They are likely busy. The Alliance’s SSS Guide, Chi Wan, has gone missing, and the entire Alliance is currently dedicated to finding her. It’s no matter. I’ll show you around first.”
The smile on Ji Ke’s face faded.
Why was the Alliance using all its resources to find a missing Chi Wan?
The tour of the Alliance’s major sectors took over two hours. Ji Ke grew more satisfied with the place by the minute.
Once the arrangements were made, Kui Chuan left.
Ji Ke began the intake process with the Personnel Department.
“Commander Qi Ye.”
“Good day, Commander Qi Ye.”
At the end of the white corridor, the respectful voices of the Sentinels caught Ji Ke’s attention.
She turned. Beyond the scattered crowd, a tall man with broad shoulders and a narrow waist approached. His gray hair was messy, his features as sharp as if they had been carved. Beneath his narrow eyes, his gaze was a deep, serpentine green—dangerous and intoxicating.
His combat boots made steady, heavy thuds against the floor.
With one look, Ji Ke’s eyes lit up.
He was gorgeous.

Qi Ye stopped before Ji Ke, his gaze—capable of seeing through a person’s soul—settling on her.
“You’re the new over-SSS Guide, Ji Ke?”
“It’s me. Hello.”
Ji Ke was so excited her body was practically trembling. To have such a top-tier man standing before her—she was close enough to smell his scent.
[Don’t look him in the eye. His ability is mind-reading.]
Ji Ke’s heart skipped a beat. She looked away.
Then, she heard his flat voice:
“You all can go. I’ll take her to finish the intake.”
“Yes, Commander Qi Ye.”
As the footsteps of the others faded, Ji Ke felt a rush of joy.
Handsome and attentive. And he was hers.
As she followed Qi Ye down the corridor, Ji Ke’s imagination ran wild. A snake-themed romance… what would that be like?
It was bound to be incredible.
She followed him through the hallway and into a room. The mechanical door slammed shut behind her.
BANG!
The lights in the room flickered on. Under the harsh white glare, the man turned to face her.
His eyes were a forest green, filled with a coldness that chilled her to the bone.
