Chapter 119: Who Drove Chi Wan Away?
Chi Wan was gone.
It was as if she had vanished into thin air.
The Alliance had no record of her boarding any ship, and no flight data in the entire star system showed any trace of her.
Chi Yuzhou rushed to the X-K Alliance overnight to join the search.
Now, only one theory remained in the Allianceā
She had gone out on a mission alone.
Every exploration zone that was mid-development was scoured on a massive scale.
But the search yielded nothing.
Three days after Chi Wan disappeared.
“Reporting to Commander Cang Lin, Commander Qi Ye has returned.”
Cang Lin moved through the frantic crowd and blocked Qi Yeās path.
“You must know something. Where did Chi Wan go?”
Qi Yeās expression was icy. He gave Cang Lin a brief, cold glance and walked past him without a word.
Shen Yu stepped forward, stopping Cang Lin.
“If he knew, he wouldn’t have spent the last two days searching the exploration zones. Calm down.”
“Perhaps thereās one more way…”
Kui An stood with Dudu behind her, facing four Commanders with a stern expression.
“You cannot.”
If they read Duduās memory chip, they would know she had helped Chi Wan leave the system.
Chi Yuzhou pushed the door open, his voice solemn.
“Sheās right, you can’t. Dudu lived with Wanwan; its memories involve too much of her privacy. I won’t allow it either!”
He walked toward Kui An, his tone polite.
“Miss Kui, you are a woman; itās more appropriate for you. You can review the footage first. If there is any memory related to why my daughter disappeared, please share it with us. What do you say?”
Kui An fell silent.
The reason Chi Wan left…
She was curious, too. Chi Wan had been so determined to goāhad she suffered some grievance?
Thinking of this, she nodded hesitantly. “Fine.”
The group moved to the Mechanical Department.
Chi Yuzhou suddenly received an urgent message and had to leave, leaving Pu Jing behind to report any findings.
Kui An used the excuse of privacy to stay in a small room with the mechanical technician, blocking everyone elseās view.
Only after ordering the technician to delete all footage of her conversations with Chi Wan did Kui An finally breathe a sigh of relief.
“Most of it is gone. You can start playing the memories now.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
The technician was also a woman who had left the Federation with Kui An; her loyalty was absolute.
The memory cycles began to play.
Outside the room, Pei Yuan appeared, his gray eyes cold behind his glasses.
“Waiting outside? How stupid. What if the person who drove her away is right here?”
With that, he teleported into the room, startling Kui An and the technician.
In an instant, he snatched the playback device.
When Pei Yuan emerged with the device, everyone crowded around.
They gathered around the screen.
The screen flickered, and Duduās clumsy mechanical voice rang out:
“Oops, took the wrong thing! Here, take it back!”
The footage moved away from a plain white bathrobe and settled on Chi Wanās face. She was being pinned down by Yun Qi, letting out a muffled groan.
His bare, muscular arms were tensed as he braced himself against the soft bedding, his hair tangling with her silver locks.
The girlās small face was flushed and flustered, her eyes watery with urgencyāa sight that triggered a fierce protective instinct in anyone who saw it.
Pei Yuanās face went dark. He quickly snapped the screen off.
Kui An rushed out, snatched the device back, and retreated into the room, muttering curses.
The air in the hall froze. The atmospheric pressure plummeted.
No one would have expected that the usually cold and aloof Yun Qi was capable of such things.
Pu Jing looked away, his old face turning red.
When Yun Qi arrived in a hurry, he was met by several gazes filled with murderous intent.
He had sweat on his brow from his frantic travel, his chest heaving. Though he was utterly confused, he immediately took a combative stance, his eyes darkening as his energy began to stir.
Cang Lin crossed his arms, his gaze furious.
“Truly, one should never judge a book by its cover.”
Shen Yu added: “Chi Wan couldn’t have been driven away by you, could she? You lecherous intruder.”
Yun Qi: “?”
Pei Yuan was the most composed. “Looking at the date, it wasn’t Yun Qi who caused her to leave.”
“Qi Ye, did your mind-reading truly pick up nothing?”
Qi Ye lowered his eyes coldly. “I have an idea who caused it, but I don’t know the specific reason.”
“Who?”
In the center of the hall, the massive star-screen suddenly broadcast an important interstellar bulletinā
[Breaking News: An over-SSS Guide has been discovered. Mental entity is the rare Silver Phoenix.]
[We have interviewed this Miss Ji Ke. She claims to be the biological daughter of the Chi family head, Chi Yuzhou, and intends to undergo paternity testing.]
[The news is sensational. Federation administrators have personally intervened, hoping to secure the Guideās cooperation.]
[Rumors suggest Guide Chi Wan has suddenly disappeared. The Chi family and multiple bases are searching for her. The timing of these events is too coincidental; we suspect a connection.]
On the screen, a woman with long silver hair appeared. She was beautiful, and the gazes around her were filled with awe.
Pu Jing was shocked. His master had left in a hurry because of this…
“Itās her.”
Qi Yeās voice rang out, cold as ice.
His green eyes stared intently at the woman on the screen.
That day in the underground trade city… Chi Wanās sudden loss of composure, her distraction, and her subsequent distance.
He hadn’t been able to stop himself; he had used his mind-reading on her.
In that glimpse, he had seen her confronting a woman with long silver hair. That woman had looked down on her from atop a silver phoenix.
The woman on the screen.
In an instant, everyoneās gaze turned cold as they stared at Ji Ke.
Shen Yu: “So sheās the one who drove Chi Wan away?”
Shi Ye: “What is the reason behind it?”
Qi Ye looked away. “Unknown.”
“It won’t be hard to find out the reason.”
Pei Yuan sneered at the screen.
“With her abilities, sheāll eventually come to the Alliance. When she does, weāll have plenty of ways to make her talk.”
