Chapter 63: Came Back Once
Mu Feng felt his heart racing wildly.
When he was fifteen, Liang Yuhang had caught him once. Now, it was the second time.
“Want to go again?” Liang Yuhang asked.
“No, once is enough.” Mu Feng’s voice was muffled.
He knew Liang Yuhang was good to him, but what could he do for this man?
He spoke of liking him, yet every time, it was Liang Yuhang shielding him from the wind and rain.
Mu Feng lowered his eyes, listening to the steady thumping of that mechanical heart. He couldn’t keep indulging in this illusory beauty. He had to conduct the experiment as soon as possible and return to the past.
“What are you overthinking now?” Liang Yuhang stepped back a bit, lifting the boy’s chin to look at him.
“Nothing. I’m much happier now. I’m going back to do the experiment.” Mu Feng’s fingers rested on the man’s forearm where his sleeves were rolled up. “Do you have a fever? You’re a bit hot.”
“My body temperature is naturally high.” Liang Yuhang reached out and pulled him up. “Now? So soon?”
Mu Feng gave a hum of affirmation. He asked as if casually, “Professor Liang, does it hurt after the heart transplant?”
“Occasionally. Even though it’s settled in well, it’s not a natural organ after all.” Liang Yuhang spoke lightly. “It’s no big deal.”
Mu Feng reached out, giving the other a brief hug. “If only I could lessen your pain.”
Liang Yuhang paused for a few seconds before saying, “No need. You’re a little bitter gourd yourself; don’t try to be a savior.”
Mu Feng didn’t speak. He kept his head down as he returned to the car. They turned around and headed back to the Base.
He didn’t let Liang Yuhang stay with him. The man was worried, so he sent 0717 over.
“Aiyah, could it be that the little couple fought and Lord 0717 has to be the peacemaker?” 0717 slid happily into the lab. “That’ll cost extra.”
“We didn’t. How could we fight?” Mu Feng kept his head down, skillfully preparing the reagents. “I just think he’s too tired and needs to rest.”
“How touching. I’ll waive today’s overtime pay.” 0717 immediately cupped its hands together. “Do you need me to perform a cheerleading dance for you?”
Mu Feng reached out to stop it. “Don’t. I beg you.”
He looked at the experimental records. Previously, he had used a moderate amount, and the most that happened was he turned into Mumu. What if he increased the dosage and used it with the quantum entanglement biological pod?
“If I really go back to the past, will my memories still be there?” Mu Feng stared at 0717.
“Of course not.” 0717 blinked. “Theoretically, it’s unrealistic to return with memories. At most, you could set a memory anchor in a deep lock, but you’d forget you set it, so you wouldn’t go looking for it. Besides, I’m bound to the Boss; only he can do that. You can’t.”
Mu Feng figured as much.
If he really succeeded, all his interactions with Liang Yuhang would be gone. Losing those memories again would be such a pity.
“Let’s try. Time me,” Mu Feng said.
“You’re trying now? So sudden.” 0717 grew a bit panicked. “Don’t. What if you succeed? What happens to me? What happens to the cat? What happens to the Boss?”
“It’s not that easy to succeed. It’s failed over two thousand times.” Mu Feng smiled, lowering his head and injecting the reagent cleanly.
“It is nine-fifteen. Starting now,” 0717 said.
Five times the dosage. Mu Feng lay down in the biological pod.
Minutes later, fragments of memories flashed through his mind like a revolving lantern. It felt like falling into an endless abyss, molecules shattering, a black hole swallowing everything.
He snapped his eyes open. He looked down; in his hand were the five vials of reagent he was about to inject.
Mu Feng looked at 0717 in a daze.
“It is nine-fifteen. Starting now,” 0717 said obediently.
“Don’t you think… that sentence is very familiar?” Mu Feng’s palms were sweating. For a moment, his mind was blank, yet he couldn’t remember anything.
0717 twisted around. “No. Why don’t you do it in a couple of days? At least do the things you want to do first, otherwise, if you really go back, it’ll be a huge regret.”
Mu Feng closed his eyes and shook his head. “No.”
Did he… come back once?
From where? When? He couldn’t remember. The experimental records still showed the previous entry.
“I feel like I succeeded once. For a few minutes.” Mu Feng looked at 0717, murmuring, “But I’m not sure.”
“The child really has a fever, talking nonsense.” 0717 used a claw to touch his forehead. “Mhm, a bit of a fever. Is your heat cycle coming?”
Mu Feng didn’t speak. He looked down at the pale blue reagent.
0717 cupped its hands, eyes turning into hearts. “If it clashes with the Boss’s susceptibility period in a few days… Heavens, wouldn’t that be like dry wood and a raging fire?”
“Does your boss have susceptibility periods that often?” Mu Feng was distracted by the topic. “He just had one last month.”
“Yeah. He has one every twenty days, and he can still hold back.” 0717 gossiped openly. “Isn’t that perverse?”
Mu Feng looked down at the vials again. He felt a fuzzy sense that the scene just now had indeed happened before.
“Should we prepare some protection in advance?” 0717 continued to chatter. “Should we get a more comfortable bed? The kind that bounces?”
Mu Feng: “……”
He truly couldn’t imagine how this thing was rated as a top-ten robot. Its mind was full of anything but serious thoughts.
However, if he could really go back a few minutes…
Could he steal a kiss from Liang Yuhang and then come back without being caught?
“I’m really being led astray by you.” Mu Feng felt ashamed of his own thoughts.
“What do you mean ‘me’?” 0717 looked at the test tubes in his hand. “Are you doing it or not? I’m off work in fifteen minutes.”
Mu Feng felt the robot truly had a hard life. “Forget it. I’ll do it tomorrow.”
“Then I’m leaving.” 0717 had just put on a happy face when it heard two beeps. Its face fell instantly. “The Boss is calling me. Overtime again. I’m so annoyed. Working for a boss like this will shorten my life by three years.”
Mu Feng stared at the test tubes. A small amount of the reagent combined with spiritual expansion would turn him into Mumu.
Could that cat be his spiritual manifestation?
Most normal people didn’t have one, but Mu Feng always felt he wasn’t quite normal. After all, when Liang Yuhang was injected, he only suffered hormonal imbalance.
“So annoying.” Mu Feng propped his head up, unable to figure it out. He looked down and saw a message from 0717.
Mu Feng: “……”
This man-machine really tells him everything.
The next second, Mu Feng decisively gave himself a shot. With a beauty right in front of him, he wasn’t going to miss the view.
The moment he switched to Mumu, he charged straight into the bathroom.
0717 shrank back in fright. “My god! Has this cat become a spirit lately? It really needs to be neutered. Let’s go tomorrow.”
Liang Yuhang heard the noise and turned around. He saw the cat leap into the water, landing directly on his chest.
Liang Yuhang picked him up. “Why are you running? You’re soaking wet.”
“It’s been so long since I’ve seen fanservice. I missed it.” Mu Feng’s two paws kneaded back and forth on the man’s body. “Let me touch, touch, touch.”
Fluid muscles, a firm abdomen, and a very impressive “Little Yuhang.”
Mu Feng stared without blinking. His throat felt itchy, and his mouth was dry.
“Get out.” Liang Yuhang spoke to 0717. “Take the cat out.”
0717 stayed to watch the drama. “Do you want me to call Mu Feng up? To help you discipline this stupid cat? It’s been exceptionally obedient to him lately.”
“Why call Mu Feng?” Liang Yuhang recalled how the boy didn’t even want him to stay in the lab earlier. He probably didn’t want to see him that much.
He paused, then added, “He probably doesn’t like being with me. He likely thinks there’s a generation gap.”
Mu Feng: ?????
