Chapter 85: How About a Permanent Mark? – He is Not a Plaything
“Hiss—”
The sharp blade sliced through flesh. A ferocious, bloody gash suddenly bloomed across Mu Sian’s cheek, and dark red blood surged out.
“Tsk,” Mu Sian snorted coldly. The playfulness in his eyes completely faded, leaving only iciness.
Taking advantage of the other party’s distraction, Jiang Chenyan slammed his foot into Mu Sian’s lower abdomen and used the momentum to spring up.
The Alpha pheromones belonging uniquely to him exploded—scorching and intense.
Behind him, over a dozen figures stirred restlessly, cold light flickering in their eyes.
They were waiting—waiting to completely consume this isolated and helpless Omega.
Clearly, they were already unable to restrain themselves, yet they were held back by some form of deterrence, not daring to act rashly.
They wanted to move, but they couldn’t.
Because not far away, two Alphas of higher status and stronger rank were watching, as if admiring the final struggles of their prey, playing this tedious game with him.
Cold sweat covered Jiang Chenyan’s forehead, drenching the hair at his temples. The clothes on his back had long been soaked through as well.
The concentration of Alpha pheromones in the cabin had already exceeded his limit. Various pheromones intertwined, causing uncontrollable bouts of piercing pain at his gland. Jiang Chenyan couldn’t stop his body from trembling; his vision began to darken.
He did his best to avoid Mu Sian’s reaching claws, forgetting there was another person lying in wait. He unfortunately fell right into Xie Huaijin’s hands.
Xie Huaijin’s broad palm was like an iron clamp, locking tightly around Jiang Chenyan’s neck. His fingertips squeezed hard, feeling the pulse thumping beneath the delicate skin. Without hesitation, he slammed the youth down toward the floor.
With a muffled thud, Jiang Chenyan crashed heavily onto the ground. A sharp pain radiated from his spine, feeling as if his entire frame was about to fall apart.
He struggled desperately, kicking out at Xie Huaijin while aiming his short blade directly at the man’s heart.
Xie Huaijin’s eyes darkened abruptly. He caught the blade with his bare hand. The cold metal sliced through his palm, and bright red blood welled up, dripping through his fingers and blooming into small flowers of blood on the floor.
The thick scent of blood quickly intertwined with the Alpha pheromones, permeating the cabin. The expressions of all the Alphas changed instantly. The greed in their eyes was replaced by extreme excitement and fanaticism. Their breathing became heavy and hurried, and their bodies leaned forward instinctively, itching to move.
An Omega drawing a blade against an Alpha—just the thought of that image made their blood boil, their fingertips trembling with excitement.
The blade was firmly gripped in Xie Huaijin’s palm before he wrenched it away. Jiang Chenyan lost his strength, pinned against the freezing metal floor of the cabin, the chill seeping into his skin.
Xie Huaijin’s knee pressed into the small of his back. Jiang Chenyan could clearly smell the thick, blood-scented pheromones. His chest constricted, making breathing extremely difficult; a sense of suffocation weighed down on his entire body.
“Had enough?” Xie Huaijin lowered his head, his warm breath brushing against Jiang Chenyan’s sweat-drenched black hair. “I told you to choose for yourself. What? Must you force me to make the decision for you?”
The system was pacing in circles with anxiety.
[Host… wuwuwu.]
Jiang Chenyan gasped for air, his chest heaving violently. Cold sweat continued to drip along his jawline, forming small puddles on the floor.
He had two plans.
First: Use every last shred of strength to resist, stalling for time until they reached the pre-arranged ambush point.
Second: Take advantage of the current chaos and find an opportunity to jump from the edge of the shuttle. Even though the risk was immense, it would count as a temporary “death escape” to break free from this desperate situation.
Seeing Jiang Chenyan dazed, Xie Huaijin’s eyes grew dark. His fingertips tightened around Jiang Chenyan’s neck. “Look at me. Where is your answer?”
Jiang Chenyan looked at Xie Huaijin expressionlessly. Idiot.
Xie Huaijin’s slender fingers gently brushed aside the damp hair clinging to Jiang Chenyan’s forehead.
He was very beautiful. The corner of his mouth was stained with blood that hadn’t dried yet—it was unclear when he had bitten it. His pale cheeks were flushed with a sickly crimson due to suffocation. Even though he was in a wretched state, broken and fragile, he was incredibly alluring. Xie Huaijin loved this side of Jiang Chenyan; he couldn’t help but want to snap the other’s wings, to ravish him until he finally cried.
“Disgusting.”
Jiang Chenyan turned his head away, avoiding Xie Huaijin’s touch. He practically had the word “repulsion” written on his face. “Why should I choose? You’re all equally disgusting.”
Xie Huaijin used his fingertips to forcefully wrench Jiang Chenyan’s face back, forcing him to look directly at him. “What? You’d rather be played to death by those dozen Alphas than submit to us? You think you can handle them?”
The Alphas not far away seemed to notice the movement here. They all turned to look, their gazes sticking to Jiang Chenyan’s body like physical entities.
Each one was a person of standing in the Alliance, yet each one hid undisguised greed and desire in their eyes.
Jiang Chenyan’s body stiffened. He fell silent.
Those people…
He slowly lifted his eyes, the corner of his mouth curling into a very faint smile. It was a tragic smile, intended specifically to provoke Xie Huaijin. “It’s still better than being played with by you two.”
“Besides forcing me, all you know how to do is…”
Before he could finish, Xie Huaijin covered his mouth. He hadn’t expected Jiang Chenyan to choose those “beasts.” His heart wavered slightly; he didn’t understand. Is he really that repulsed?
“What’s so bad about staying by our side? Once we enter the Alliance, we can protect you. You think your identity as an Omega is some kind of secret? Do you want to wait for the day it’s made public and you become a plaything fought over by everyone?”
Jiang Chenyan’s heart sank. Professor Ariel’s teasing words flashed through his mind: Anyone would think you were some kind of prize that they’re so desperate for you.
Logically, given his young age and lack of experience, he should have been assigned to an Alliance branch. To be forcibly transferred to the Headquarters at the core of power… looking back now, it was all arranged by Xie Huaijin and the others.
How many people actually knew of his Omega identity? And who had leaked the news? Jiang Chenyan didn’t know.
Once he entered the Alliance, his fate would be grim.
Noticing the greedy gazes of the Alphas nearby, Xie Huaijin frowned impatiently. He raised his hand to block those stares and hauled Jiang Chenyan up from the floor, simultaneously shooting a cold look at Mu Sian.
Mu Sian understood. Just as the two were about to drag Jiang Chenyan into a nearby compartment, his wrist suddenly jerked.
Jiang Chenyan spoke abruptly, his voice hoarse. “Is there any difference?”
Xie Huaijin’s movements paused. “What?”
“What is the difference between you and those people?” Jiang Chenyan lifted his eyes to look directly into the fire in Xie Huaijin’s gaze. “Don’t you all just want to ruin me?”
As soon as he finished speaking, Jiang Chenyan used all his strength to push Xie Huaijin away. His body stumbled back two steps as he stared fixedly at him.
They wanted him to kneel like a dog, begging for mercy and wagging his tail. Well, he was truly unwilling.
Jiang Chenyan turned and sprinted toward the cockpit.
The faces of Xie Huaijin and Mu Sian darkened instantly. Their brows furrowed tightly as they finally lost their patience, barking out an order: “Catch him!”
Inside the cockpit, the pilot had already seen the chaos behind him through the monitors. He cursed under his breath, “What a hassle…”
Jiang Chenyan burst in and, without a word, slammed a kick into him. The pilot fell to the floor, caught off guard. Jiang Chenyan seized the chance to lunged forward, grabbing the controls, his fingertips pressing rapidly on the panel.
The door was pushed open. The figures of Xie Huaijin and Mu Sian appeared at the entrance, their faces grim. “Jiang Chenyan, what are you doing?”
Mu Sian reached out and pressed the autopilot button. A cold, mechanical voice sounded as the shuttle disengaged from manual control.
In the next second, two Alpha pheromones of extreme power exploded simultaneously, instantly sweeping through the cockpit and enveloping Jiang Chenyan.
The gland on the back of Jiang Chenyan’s neck grew hotter and hotter, like a ball of fire was scorching it. His blood felt solidified, and his limbs grew soft, making it nearly impossible to stand.
Xie Huaijin reached back and closed the cockpit door, isolating the noise from outside. The pilot on the floor had already been knocked unconscious by the pressure of the pheromones, slumped in the corner without a sound.
Xie Huaijin approached slowly, his fingertips gently brushing over Jiang Chenyan’s earlobe. “So restless. Do you want to play something exciting here?”
Jiang Chenyan said nothing. He slammed a fist into Xie Huaijin’s chest. Xie Huaijin let out a muffled groan and caught Jiang Chenyan’s wrist; the two began to scuffle.
Mu Sian leaned against the door, watching this farce with cold eyes, letting them tear and roll around.
During the struggle, Jiang Chenyan’s clothes were torn beyond recognition. The fabric was shredded, revealing large areas of pale skin stained with blood and dust from earlier.
Xie Huaijin’s palm slid through a tear in the clothes. When his cool fingertips touched warm skin, Jiang Chenyan’s entire body stiffened. A strong wave of revulsion crawled up his spine; his stomach churned, and he almost threw up.
“How about a permanent mark?” Xie Huaijin leaned down to whisper into Jiang Chenyan’s ear. “That way, you can forget about ever escaping for the rest of your life.”
He squeezed Jiang Chenyan’s chin hard, forcing him to look up. Complex emotions swirled in his eyes—greed, obsession, and a trace of undetectable sincerity.
“To be honest, I quite like this stubborn and fierce look of yours.”
“Did you do it with Shen Shiyue?”
Jiang Chenyan didn’t react.
“Do you like Shen Shiyue?”
“…”
Still no reaction.
“We plan to join forces to kill Shen Shiyue. What do you think about that?”
Jiang Chenyan finally reacted. He glared fiercely at Xie Huaijin, struggling with all his might.
“Get away from me!”
He was filled with hate; his nails nearly dug into his palms.
Xie Huaijin’s expression darkened instantly, a hint of gloom flitting through his eyes. His reaction was so intense at the mention of Shen Shiyue—did he care that much?
The force in his hands increased as he crudely tore at Jiang Chenyan’s clothes. “Be good if you know what’s good for you. Otherwise, I really will throw you out and let those Alphas out there have their way with you. Let’s see if you can still act tough then.”
The prolonged struggle had exhausted all of Jiang Chenyan’s strength. His body gradually softened, and his resistance grew weaker and weaker.
Just then, the shuttle suddenly lurched violently. The entire frame shook crazily, and sparks flew from the control panel on the table. Xie Huaijin didn’t have time to hold onto Jiang Chenyan; Jiang Chenyan’s body pitched forward uncontrollably, slamming into the cold cabin wall. His vision went black.
It worked.
Earlier, he had pressed a series of buttons on the control console…
He had successfully sabotaged the device.
The shuttle shook violently. The expressions of Mu Sian and Xie Huaijin changed drastically. Ignoring the turbulence, they stumbled toward him, reaching out to grab Jiang Chenyan.
Using the momentum of the tilting cabin, Jiang Chenyan shook off the two of them. He scrambled to his feet and stumbled out the door.
The Alphas outside were already unsettled by the shuttle’s malfunction. Seeing Jiang Chenyan rush out now, they all surrounded him with grim expressions, blocking his path.
Rumble—!
A deafening roar sounded. A ball of fire suddenly exploded at the rear of the shuttle. A scorching airwave swept through, leaving the frame teetering as debris flew everywhere.
Immediately following that, several mecha cannon blasts sliced through the sky. The hull was instantly torn open with several large holes, thick smoke billowing and fire soaring.
Jiang Chenyan looked up and saw several mechas hovering in the air, their muzzles still smoking.
It should be the people from the LE organization.
An earth-shattering explosion rang out. One side of the shuttle was consumed by fire. The massive impact blew the hatch door off, not far from the crashing shuttle.
Jiang Chenyan’s heart sank. This wasn’t the pre-arranged ambush point; the LE people had arrived early.
Was it a leak of information, or did they intentionally move early? Whether it was intentional or not, this surprise attack had come far too suddenly.
The Alliance had arranged for mechas to escort them. Just as the shuttle was about to give out, the roar of engines came from the distance. Several Alliance mechas charged toward them, and both sides began to fight in the sky.
Xie Huaijin and Mu Sian’s brows were furrowed, their expressions grave.
The two exchanged a glance and quickly rushed toward the storage area in the cabin. Small flight devices were equipped there. Seeing this, the other Alphas also surged forward, each fighting for a device.
Jiang Chenyan stood in place expressionlessly, watching this farce. Taking advantage of the gap while everyone was fighting, he silently moved toward the hatch.
Outside the door, the wild wind howled, carrying the smoke and heat from the explosion. Just half a step more, and he would be instantly sucked into the high altitude.
Just as he lifted his foot, a hand suddenly grabbed Jiang Chenyan’s wrist with enough force to nearly crush the bone.
Mu Sian’s face was dark, his eyes full of rage and confusion: “What are you doing? Do you want to die?”
At the same time, Xie Huaijin rushed over carrying a set of flight gear. Without a word, he shoved the device into Jiang Chenyan’s hand. “Hold on tight, let’s go!”
Jiang Chenyan slowly lifted his eyes, the corner of his mouth curling into an extremely faint and cold smile.
“Remember this: I am not a plaything at your disposal.”
Xie Huaijin’s expression changed drastically, his fingertips clenching Jiang Chenyan’s arm. “Are you crazy? Jiang Chenyan!”
“Even if I die, I will never let you have your way.”
Jiang Chenyan’s voice was as light as a breeze.
As soon as the words fell, Jiang Chenyan suddenly exerted force to break free from Xie Huaijin’s hand. His body leaned outward and, with the help of the surging wind outside the cabin, he fell.
Like a withered leaf torn by a wild wind, he tumbled through the turbulence with nothing to hold onto. His clothes were shredded, his hair whipped wildly, and his body was swept down rapidly by the air currents, gradually disappearing from their sight.
Life was just this fragile—like a candle in the wind, extinguished in an instant.
In just a flash, Jiang Chenyan was gone without a trace.
Xie Huaijin and Mu Sian stood at the hatch, looking at the vast horizon below. For the first time, an unprecedented sense of emptiness surged in their hearts. They had always been in control of everything, able to turn clouds and rain with a flip of their hands. It turned out there really were things they couldn’t grasp even if they gave it their all.
Xie Huaijin’s eyes surged with a panic he had never felt before. Almost instantly, he put on the flight gear and leaped out of the shuttle, racing toward the direction where Jiang Chenyan had fallen.
Mu Sian followed closely behind, his face terrifyingly grim. The roar of the flight gear engines sliced through the air as the two searched the sea of clouds like madmen for that tiny figure.
They didn’t dare to think. Jiang Chenyan had fallen without any support. Forget having no protection—even if he did, falling from such a height would only result in being smashed to pieces, without even a whole corpse left.
Jiang Chenyan used his body to tell them:
He was not a plaything; he would not be handled by them.
With one leap, he fell toward the abyss, and also toward freedom.
