Chapter 48: This Eczema of Yours Really Chose a Bad Place to Grow
Lu Huaishen instinctively turned his head and let out a light cough. He then focused his gaze on the youth’s chest again, speaking in a tone that was both flashy and annoying: “This allergic eczema of yours really chose a bad place to grow.”
The words, which held an inexplicable hint of teasing, made Liang Qinian’s cheeks flush. His ears burned red. The embarrassment only made the itching on his chest more uncontrollable.
What does this doctor mean?!
Does eczema need to choose a location?
After complaining to himself, the itching became too much. He had to reach out and lightly scratch. He asked as if he hadn’t understood: “Mhm? Doctor, what did you say?”
The other man immediately pushed aside his scratching arm. He spoke with an unusually serious tone of warning: “It’s nothing. Move your hand. Don’t scratch. Do you want to be treated or not?”
The person on the bed gritted his teeth, his hands tightly gripping the edge of the bed. He said: “Sorry, sorry. Doctor, I won’t move.”
“Mhm, that’s best. Don’t force me to tie you up~”
Lu Huaishen looked down at him meaningfully for a few seconds. He leaned down slightly, moving closer. His gaze suddenly shifted to the youth’s white, slender neck. A strange light flashed in his eyes.
The youth’s perfume was very, very faint, but it smelled wonderful—crisp and clean. It was very comfortable to smell.
Why did he have a sudden, inexplicable urge to bite that spot where the carotid artery was pulsing…?
Liang Qinian was naturally unaware of the messy thoughts in the man’s head. He was merely a bit resistant to the close proximity. His shoulders shrank back slightly. He was flustered by those eyes that seemed to see into his soul. He stammered:
“Hiss… Doctor, is there eczema on my neck too?”
Does a doctor need to look this closely? Why didn’t I encounter such strange movements when I had exams before?
Does this doctor actually know what he’s doing…?
My chest is so itchy! It’s getting worse!
After asking a hundred times in his heart, Liang Qinian simply closed his eyes. His knuckles turned white from the force of gripping the mattress.
Seeing him in such discomfort, Lu Huaishen’s lips curved up. He took the ointment from the table and began to apply it gently to the allergic areas. He said unhurriedly: “There’s no eczema on your neck. I’m just checking to make sure it hasn’t spread.”
The cotton swab dipped in ointment moved slowly from the chest down to the abdomen, then along the waist and back up. Every landing spot was exactly where the pain and itching were located. A cool, comfortable sensation immediately swept through his body.
The refreshing feeling was wonderful, making one want to sink into it. The cold stimulation made him shiver slightly. He grew drowsy.
Liang Qinian fought to stay awake, remaining motionless. The pain and itching on his body had indeed lessened significantly.
He didn’t know how long passed before a cool sensation traveled from his waist across his entire body, like an electric current. Then it vanished.
His eyelids flickered. His hazy eyes opened wide. He happened to see the doctor’s finger inadvertently brush across his lower abdomen. The cold stimulation on his skin instantly cleared his muddled brain.
Seeing the youth’s knit brows relax from the relief, Lu Huaishen admired his expression. He gave a silent smirk and turned the cotton swab in his hand. He said:
“Please turn over. Support your waist. Don’t touch the bed; the sheets were just washed.”
“Mhm, okay.”
Liang Qinian didn’t dare to be careless and turned over to lie on his stomach. His mind, however, was inexplicably missing the slight cold of the doctor’s fingertips from just now. It felt even more comfortable than the specialized ointment.
A slightly shameful desire suddenly rose in his heart: If he used that hand to scratch the itchy spots, it would probably feel much better…
It was fine as long as he didn’t think about it. But once he did, the eczema on his back seemed to react to his craving. The ointment on it no longer felt cool, instead turning feverish.
Wait… what am I thinking…
Liang Qinian buried his flushed face in his crossed arms, his mind a mess. He remained silent.
Out of the corner of his eye, Lu Huaishen caught a glimpse of the youth’s ears, which were as red as sunset clouds. His lips curved. His gentle smile held an unmistakable hint of teasing:
“Alright, we’re done. How do you feel now?”
The person on the bed immediately nodded. “Doctor, I feel much better. This medicine of yours is very effective.”
Hearing this, Lu Huaishen seemed to catch another interesting detail. A light flashed in his glasses. His tone was improper as he feigned confusion: “Oh? This medicine of mine?”
Liang Qinian heard the wrongness in his words. Afraid of a misunderstanding, he quickly corrected himself:
“Doctor, this ointment of yours is quite good.”
“It’s five hundred yuan a tube. What do you think?”
Lu Huaishen raised an eyebrow and spoke slowly: “Since you feel better, sit up. I’ll go write your prescription.”
What? Five hundred yuan a tube!
Liang Qinian was stunned by the number. He felt terrible.
Am I applying gold to my body…?
He had budgeted about ten yuan for a tube. Now he was told it was five hundred? It was outrageously expensive!
“Well, Doctor…”
“Mhm?”
Liang Qinian pressed his lips together. While putting on his clothes, he spoke awkwardly: “Just prescribe me some random medicine. I don’t need the ointment. I have some at home I can use first.”
The other man looked at him in disbelief. He then tilted his head lazily toward him and asked casually:
“What? Too expensive?”
Liang Qinian’s expression darkened. He let out a light sigh and blurted out: “It’s expensive as hell, okay?! I can’t afford to use it on myself. Doctor, don’t try to persuade me.”
Lu Huaishen looked at him. “Who’s persuading you? The ointment I just applied to you counts as a cost too, right? Total of two hundred yuan. You can pay it back together when you go to the pharmacy for your medicine.”
“You… you? Two hundred?”
Liang Qinian’s expression turned tense. He stared fixedly at the masked man across from him. His voice even held a hint of panic: “Something’s not right… that tone. You’re that person from the hotel who tried to swindle me?!”
Only now was he finally certain. This person was indeed that swindling creditor from the hotel!
And he was actually a doctor…?
Lu Huaishen kept his hands in his white coat. He gave an effortless nod, dropping the act: “Heh… Fine, you caught me. I’ll stop acting. When are you going to pay back the eighty million you owe me? Today is the last day~”
Liang Qinian staggered back a step. His bright eyes burned with rage. “Are you kidding? That suit was never worth eighty million! Don’t try to swindle me!”
Besides, even if he scraped everything together, he couldn’t even get one million. Where was he supposed to steal eighty million?!
The other man was clearly trying to take his life!
Lu Huaishen enjoyed the sight of his half-dead state. It was as if he had achieved his goal. He drew out his words:
“Who’s swindling whom? You dirtied my high-edition custom suit worth tens of millions, and you want to dodge the responsibility?”
With nowhere left to retreat, the youth grabbed a bottle of medicine from the table and held it in front of him. He raised his voice in threat:
“Don’t come closer! I have no money, and I won’t give you my life! Besides, I’ve practiced Sanda. I don’t want to fight here!”
Lu Huaishen looked at him playfully. “No money? Then how about you obediently be my servant or bodyguard? Room and board included. It’s a better deal than being a bartender at a bar.”
Hearing the word “bartender,” Liang Qinian was surprised for a moment. He grew wary. He hadn’t expected the other man to have even tracked down his job?!
“No way!”
Just as he was about to swing his long leg in a sweep toward the man, Lu Huaishen suddenly held up a legal letter in black and white. He curled the corner of his mouth helplessly:
“If it’s a ‘no way,’ then I can only call a lawyer.”
Liang Qinian’s leg stopped mid-air. He looked at the legal warning. His cheek twitched. He said through gritted teeth:
“You’re ruthless…”
Seeing the other’s clenched fist trembling slightly, Lu Huaishen rolled up the fake legal letter. He said casually:
“Then use your labor to pay off the debt properly.”
Before Liang Qinian could speak, Lu Huaishen took the initiative. He tossed the completed prescription onto the youth’s chest with a pa sound. He kept his hands in his pockets, a smile on his lips as he commanded:
“I’m your boss now. Here’s the first thing I want you to do: go to the pharmacy and get the medicine. The money will be deducted from your salary.”
Liang Qinian crumpled the prescription into a ball. He was purple with rage but powerless. He said: “Wait… what do you mean? I haven’t agreed to be your servant yet!”
How could there be such a black-hearted boss?!
Lu Huaishen feigned a realization. He took a document from a drawer and opened it, saying: “Oh, I almost forgot. Sign the contract. Otherwise, you’ll just try to back out later.”
“I won’t sign.”
Lu Huaishen seemed to have expected this answer. His face was as calm as water. He spoke with a tone of regret:
“Then we can only take the legal route. Do you prefer a loan, or jail? You won’t be able to get such a large loan at once, will you? Both of these ways to pay the debt are quite difficult for you. You don’t want to make such a scene, do you?”
Liang Qinian went silent. He felt a suffocating pressure. His weakness had been struck perfectly.
A loan? Where would he get a loan!
And jail was worse than death!
Fine. Endure for a moment for peace…
“Give it to me. I’ll sign!”
…
ICU Ward.
After sending Ji Songting away, Shen Chuyan hovered at the ward door for nearly half an hour. Only after confirming that Jian An was alone and that his own inseparable brother was nowhere to be found did he finally act.
Heh… Jian An has been abandoned too!
This was perfect. He had heard from the nurse taking care of Jian An that although the man’s legs were paralyzed, they were in a recovery phase. With proper rest, he might stand up again.
With Shen Chuyan here, how could it be that easy?
Shen Chuyan turned to face the door. A twisted, terrifying smile spread across his exquisite face.
He shook the lunchbox in his hand. It was filled with chicken soup drugged with a substance that could lead to permanent limb paralysis.
He pushed open the door. The youth on the bed was in a deep sleep. His face was pale and clear, his frame thin, and traces of blood marked the corners of his mouth.
Even seeing Jian An in such agonizing pain from the car accident, he still didn’t feel satisfied.
Why didn’t you just die?
