Cannon Fodder O Pretending to be A Will Lose Their Vest Chapter 93.1

Chapter 93: So Much Wanting to Kill; Removing the Disguise / As Long as He Wants to Leave, No One… part 1

Walter didn’t care to go back and forth with Jiang Chenyan any longer. “Take him away.”

The moment the words left his mouth, two armed bodyguards stepped forward. Ignoring the eyes of the onlookers, they roughly grabbed Jiang Chenyan by the arms.

Public safety on this planet was practically non-existent. In the face of a broad-daylight kidnapping, not a single person dared to step in and stop them. Passersby either quickly lowered their heads and pretended not to see, or they stood on their tiptoes to steal a distant glance before hurried away.

Jiang Chenyan was pinned down firmly by the shoulders, his wrists twisted behind his back.

He didn’t panic. Tilting his head slightly, he spoke: “We’re total strangers. I don’t recall ever offending you?”

Walter raised a hand to wipe the wound on his temple that was still seeping blood. His fingertips were stained with a dark red. He suddenly let out a low chuckle. “Before, you hadn’t. But now, you have.”

Anyone who beat him into this state would usually end up either crippled or dead. Jiang Chenyan was an exception.

Jiang Chenyan was momentarily speechless and didn’t respond.

He sifted through potential suspects in his mind. Xie Huaijin and Mu Sian were far away on another planet; there was no way they could reach this planet’s sphere of influence.

As he was being marched toward the airship, Jiang Chenyan caught a glimpse of the street corner out of the corner of his eye. Kai Lan was shrinking behind an advertisement board, his face as pale as paper and his eyes wide. He was clearly stunned by this sudden turn of events.

He couldn’t understand for the life of him how a perfectly fine person could be snatched away in public.

Things had taken a sharp turn. Weren’t they supposed to meet at the airship?

Jiang Chenyan’s gaze briefly met Kai Lan’s. Then, pretending it was an unconscious movement, he lifted his left hand and lightly touched the tiny bracelet on his wrist that almost blended into his skin.

Kai Lan calmed down instantly. He nodded imperceptibly and pulled out his light-brain, snapping photos of the group’s appearances, clothing, and the model of the airship.

Lowering his head to switch pages on his light-brain, the screen displayed a real-time location sent from Jiang Chenyan’s bracelet. The recording function had also been synchronized.

He had to listen carefully… to see who dared to kidnap Jiang Chenyan.

Walter followed behind and boarded the airship, sitting directly next to Jiang Chenyan.

The airship hatch slowly closed, cutting off the outside light. He stared at Jiang Chenyan without any attempt to hide his scrutiny. Seeing that the other man remained expressionless, he raised an eyebrow and asked, “Kidnapped, and not a hint of fear?”

Jiang Chenyan leaned against the back of the seat, his tone as flat as if he were discussing the weather. “What would fear change? Instead of losing my head, I might as well face it calmly. Tell me, who exactly are you? Why did you kidnap me?”

Seeing that his prey was already in hand, Walter didn’t bother pretending anymore. “The LE Organization. Familiar?”

Jiang Chenyan was startled. This was truly a bit unexpected.

He quickly suppressed the turbulence in his eyes and shook his head. “Not familiar. I’ve never heard of that name, and I don’t know you.”

“I’m just an ordinary citizen, working a nine-to-five to scrape by. What use is kidnapping me? Surely you aren’t planning to extort money?”

Walter let out a low laugh, his voice laced with mockery. “Still acting? Jiang Chenyan.”

Those three words exploded like a thunderclap in Jiang Chenyan’s ears. His body stiffened for a split second, and the calm on his face almost shattered.

Outside the airship, Kai Lan’s fingers tightened around his light-brain, his heart racing wildly. How does he know Jiang Chenyan is still alive?!

Jiang Chenyan hadn’t just changed his name; he had used his superb skills to change his appearance. And he could still be recognized?!

“What, lost your tongue?” Walter raised his hand and tore off the temporary gauze on his temple, revealing the wound that had already stopped bleeding. His ferocious appearance softened slightly as he gave a gentle-looking smile. “You don’t need to pretend anymore. Did you do some minor adjustments to your face? Why would you deliberately hide such a beautiful face?”

Jiang Chenyan took a deep breath and looked Walter straight in the eyes. “How did you know I wasn’t dead?”

“I’m afraid I cannot tell you.”

In Jiang Chenyan’s eyes, Walter’s smile looked incredibly punchable.

Jiang Chenyan’s brow furrowed slightly. His confusion deepened, but he didn’t press further.

He knew that trying to get information out of this man now would be a waste of effort.

As if seeing through Jiang Chenyan’s thoughts, Walter changed the subject. “Bringing you here this time was actually to talk about a collaboration. Although our last collaboration wasn’t successful, I think we can reach a consensus this time.”

“To be honest, I’m truly curious. How did you survive that certain-death situation back then?”

Jiang Chenyan’s fingertips curled slightly. He ignored the latter question and asked in return, “What collaboration?”

Walter chuckled. Clearly having expected this reaction from Jiang Chenyan, he said leisurely, “What’s the rush? Once we reach our destination, we’ll talk in detail.”

Jiang Chenyan didn’t speak again. He simply leaned back against the airship wall and closed his eyes.

He secretly fiddled with his bracelet…

He had recently learned about Shen Shiyue’s current situation. The Alliance had sent him and Ji Xuan to wipe out the LE Organization, but the LE Organization’s headquarters was extremely secretive. Shen Shiyue had sent people to investigate for weeks without a single lead, and they had been stuck at a bottleneck.

This was actually perfect. Stumbling into being kidnapped and brought here was an opportunity.

As long as he could map out the LE Organization’s nest and then work with Shen Shiyue from the inside, he could not only save himself but also help Shen Shiyue achieve merit and get a promotion within the Alliance.

Jiang Chenyan was marched out of the airship. A thick smell of mold hit him, mixed with damp water vapor, making him cough.

The surroundings were dim, with only a few flickering emergency lights overhead barely illuminating the uneven stone path beneath his feet. The walls were covered in moss. He couldn’t tell if this was an abandoned underground facility or a secret LE hideout.

As soon as he stepped onto the ground, two black-clad bodyguards immediately stepped forward. They roughly grabbed Jiang Chenyan’s arms and began a body search.

Jiang Chenyan struggled slightly. “You guys kidnapped me. What dangerous items could I possibly have? My light-brain is smashed, too. I’m clean from head to toe.”

As he spoke, he showed them his empty pockets.

Right then, Walter’s gaze landed on Jiang Chenyan’s wrist. He raised a hand to signal the men to stop. “Wait. What’s this?”

On Jiang Chenyan’s wrist, the outer edge of that tiny bracelet was wrapped in a circle of exquisite beads. The multicolored little beads strung together looked cheap and flashy.

Jiang Chenyan followed Walter’s gaze to his own wrist. “This was a birthday gift from my mom. Every year for my birthday, she scours the market for these kinds of trinkets for me. They aren’t worth anything. If you like it, I can send you the seller’s link later. They have several other colors in the same style.”

Walter frowned. His fingertips almost touched the string of beads before he pulled back at the last second.

He stared into Jiang Chenyan’s eyes for a long moment. Seeing that the other’s expression was calm and without a hint of panic, he finally nodded slowly. “Search him thoroughly. Don’t miss a thing.”

The black-clad men immediately resumed. Their fingertips brushed over Jiang Chenyan’s hem and pockets, and they even carefully inspected the string of beads. After confirming they were just ordinary plastic beads, they shook their heads at Walter.

Jiang Chenyan was escorted through the dim tunnel for a long time. The gravel beneath his feet made a crunching sound. The damp, moldy smell grew thicker, mixed with a faint scent of gunpowder.

After an unknown amount of time, a sliver of light finally appeared ahead. A dilapidated, abandoned building stood starkly before them.

The walls were mottled and peeling, revealing the rusted rebar inside. The window glass had long since shattered, leaving only dark, hollow frames that looked eerie in the night.

It was hard to imagine that this was a place where people stayed.

“Get in.” One of the men gave Jiang Chenyan a hard shove. He stumbled a few steps before steadying himself and being forced into the building.

The interior was starkly different from the exterior’s ruin. The hall was brightly lit, with many people in black uniforms walking to and fro, dark guns holstered at their waists.
