When Wu Mu called, Shen Ci was in the middle of feeding Ye Qi some soup.
Shen Ci set the bowl down on the table, pulled out his phone, and took a look.
After hesitating for a second, he hung up.
“Why didn’t you answer?”
Shen Ci glanced at him.
If he answered, he’d just have to spend more time coaxing the man.
“Harassment call.” As he spoke, Shen Ci picked up the bowl again and continued feeding him.
Ye Qi gave a soft “Oh” and didn’t speak again, obediently drinking the soup.
Once he finished feeding Ye Qi, Shen Ci stood up. “Ye Qi, I’m going out for a cigarette.”
Ye Qi stared intently at him for two seconds before letting out a soft, gentle smile. “Alright, Husband.”
It wasn’t until Shen Ci left the room that Ye Qi’s expression darkened completely.
“Truly a lingering ghost…”

After stepping out, Shen Ci returned Wu Mu’s call.
The phone had barely rung before Wu Mu picked up.
“Baby, are you finished with your business?”
“Finished.”
The air fell silent for a moment.
“Baby, did you make things clear to Ye Qi yesterday?”
Wu Mu had no idea about Ye Qi’s suicide attempt the previous night.
Shen Ci felt a massive headache coming on.
Seeing Wu Mu’s caller ID, he had already guessed the man would ask about this.
He chose his words carefully. “Wu Mu… last night, Ye Qi… committed suicide…”
Wu Mu’s brow tightened. “What happened?”
“After I told him we were breaking up, he couldn’t handle it…”
After a few seconds of silence, Wu Mu spoke slowly. “So, what are you thinking now?”
Shen Ci’s Adam’s apple rolled, and he steeled himself to speak. “I probably won’t be able to break up with him. He can’t live without me right now. Wu Mu, let’s forget about us.”
Shen Ci felt incredibly guilty as he said this. He had previously promised Wu Mu that he would be with him, thinking he would just string him along until the mission was over and he could flee.
Now that he had decided to stay in this small world, dealing with Wu Mu was going to be very difficult.

After agreeing to meet Wu Mu, he finally hung up the phone.

Ye Qi stayed in the hospital for two weeks before he was allowed to be discharged.
He was taken back to the Qi residence by Elder Qi.

Shen Ci felt his scalp tingle when he saw the fiery red roses in his hand.
He glanced back over his shoulder.

Xiao Hu and Old Zhang were stretching their necks out, staring at them with faces full of gossip.

He didn’t take the flowers. Instead, he grabbed Wu Mu’s hand and started walking away.
Xiao Hu and the others definitely knew Ye Qi.
Wu Mu followed behind him, watching him with a doting expression. “What’s there to be shy about? Am I that unpresentable?”

Does this big brother really have no awareness of being the “mistress”?
“They know Ye Qi.”
Wu Mu stopped in his tracks.
Shen Ci turned to look at him. “What are you doing?”
