Chapter 61: Then You Can Just Wait for the Day I Die
Gu Lanxiao’s wrist was dragged by the man, forcibly leading him from the Yu family’s old residence to the main road. His face was deathly pale from fright, and his entire being hovered on the verge of collapse.
His voice was already hoarse from shouting, and no matter how much he struggled, it was an exercise in futility. At this moment, he was physically and mentally exhausted.
A black Mercedes was parked by the roadside. Seeing the man approach, the bodyguard immediately and respectfully opened the car door.
Yu Peishang shoved Gu Lanxiao into the car before getting into the backseat himself. He issued a command to the secretary in the driver’s seat, “Back to the North.”
“Understood, President Yu.”
Bai Xuqian pushed up the black-rimmed glasses resting on the bridge of his nose. Dressed in a sharp suit and leather shoes, he exuded a sense of composure and refinement.
He discreetly glanced at the rearview mirror, his eyes subtly darkening upon seeing the youth in the backseat.
It seemed the boss had finally brought the person back after all.
Gu Lanxiao grabbed the car door handle and shook it vigorously a few times, but the doors were already locked. Unable to open it, he could only turn his head to glare at the man, shouting angrily:
“Yu Peishang! Let me out right now! I don’t want to go back to the North with you! Did you hear me? My home is in the South! My parents’ gravestones are in Nangang!”
He practically roared that last sentence, yet his voice was so broken that it evoked a sense of sorrow.
Yu Peishang turned his head to look at him. Staring at that tear-stained, breathtakingly beautiful face, he couldn’t resist raising his hand to touch it, only to be ruthlessly slapped away by the other.
His fingertips stiffened in mid-air before slowly withdrawing. He rested his hand on his knee, clenching it into a fist until his knuckles turned white, seemingly using every ounce of his strength to suppress his erupting emotions.
Yu Peishang took a deep breath. When he opened his eyes again, his usual composure had returned, and a faint smile played at the corners of his lips:
“I’m sorry. I was too impulsive back then, which led to your family’s bankruptcy and indirectly caused the sudden deaths of both your parents. It was my fault.”
The man’s voice was like a feather brushing across glass, bringing a chilling sensation. But to Gu Lanxiao’s ears, it only sounded deeply ironic; he couldn’t sense a single ounce of genuine apology.
He curled his lips into a cold smile, his tone thick with mockery. “You say one ‘I’m sorry,’ explain it away as being young and ignorant, and my parents—who died because of you—can magically come back to life?”
Yu Peishang’s brow furrowed slightly, his expression darkening, but he maintained his patience. “This is what I owe you. I will properly compensate you, as long as you stay by my side.”
“Compensate? What are you going to compensate me with?”
Gu Lanxiao’s expression was full of disdain and mockery. He asked coldly, “Money? A house? A car? Status? Do you really think I care for any of your things?”
As he spoke, his gaze swept the man up and down. He let out a scoff, continuing to provoke him, “To be honest, your looks are just average. Besides your outer skin, there’s really nothing about you that would attract a girl’s affection.”
“Am I lacking women by my side?”
Yu Peishang narrowed his long eyes. He reached out to pinch the youth’s chin, forcing him to meet his gaze, and said in a gloomy yet ambiguous tone, “But I am lacking Doctor Gu.”
“Shameless!”
Nauseated by his words, Gu Lanxiao was momentarily rendered speechless. Choking with rage, he immediately slapped the man’s hand away in disgust.
Immediately after, the rejected arm suddenly wrapped around his back, pulling him unawares directly into the man’s embrace, instantly closing the distance between them.
The man’s scorching breath sprayed against his ear and neck, sending a jolt of electricity through Gu Lanxiao.
He gasped in shock, his entire body going stiff. Turning his head abruptly, he glared fiercely at that handsome face and shouted in anger:
“Yu Peishang! Let me go!”
“Don’t move!”
Yu Peishang tightly clamped down on his shoulders, refusing to let him thrash around. His eyes were swirling with an intoxicating danger as he said obsessively, “I already let you go once, three years ago. This time, I won’t.”
With that, he suddenly captured those cold yet tender lips, one hand tightly gripping the back of the youth’s head.
“Mmph… !”
Gu Lanxiao’s eyes widened in fright. He hurriedly raised his hands to shove the man away, but the other’s strength was overwhelming; he didn’t budge an inch. Instead, he pulled the youth in even tighter.
“Bastard… aren’t you disgusted…”
Broken curses spilled sporadically from between his lips. As Gu Lanxiao struggled, the tip of the man’s tongue seized the opportunity to slip into his mouth, entangling intimately with his own.
Yu Peishang’s tongue roamed nimbly and familiarly inside his mouth, stirring Gu Lanxiao into a dizzy daze. His blood surged, and his body melted into a puddle of soft spring water.
“Nn, ah…”
A soft whimper escaped Gu Lanxiao’s lips. His eyes turned misty, and a flush rapidly spread across his cheeks.
Hearing this soul-snatching moan, Bai Xuqian in the driver’s seat instinctively felt his spine stiffen. It was as if even the thin air within the car had suddenly become saturated with pheromones.
A few drops of cold sweat broke out on his forehead. He didn’t dare glance at the rearview mirror, but his imagination was already filling in the blanks of the incredibly intense kissing battle happening behind him.
He could only pretend that nothing was happening and focus on driving.
This long-lost sweetness drove Yu Peishang even more frantic; the emotion swirling in his eyes was a desire suppressed to its absolute limit.
He gripped the back of the youth’s head tightly, his other arm locked around the slender waist, forcing their bodies flush against one another as he ruthlessly sucked and kissed those addictive cherry lips.
“Mmph, mmph…”
Gu Lanxiao shook his head desperately, only to be met with an even more aggressive plunder. The man’s kiss was so domineering and wild, it felt as though he wanted to devour him whole.
He tried to bite Yu Peishang but failed. Boiling over with shame and rage, he raised his foot to kick him, but the man dodged it effortlessly.
“Three years ago, when I kissed you, you bit me. I couldn’t properly experience your lips. Now, I’m taking it all back.”
The man pressed close to his ear, his voice deep and raspy, carrying heavy pants and an undeniable authority.
“I really regret not biting you to death back then…”
Gu Lanxiao finally found his voice, but the moment the words left his mouth, the other intensified the kiss, plunging even deeper.
A sharp slap rang out, sounding exceptionally jarring in the confined space of the car. Startled by the sound, Bai Xuqian hurriedly looked up, only to see the man’s reddened cheek.
Yu Peishang’s head was knocked to the side, a faint swelling already forming on one cheek. Flames of anger burned in his eyes as the hands cradling the youth slowly dropped to his sides.
No one had ever dared to strike this man like that, much less across the face! Doctor Gu was simply daring enough to swallow the sky!
As Bai Xuqian thought this, he quickly adjusted his expression and asked, “Boss, are you alright?”
Yu Peishang narrowed his eyes dangerously. With a cold and cruel expression, he stared dead at the youth and said maliciously:
“If it were that brat Yu Xiuqing kissing you right now, perhaps Doctor Gu would be thoroughly enjoying it?”
Gu Lanxiao gritted his teeth, lifting his sleeve to wipe his mouth in disgust. He found this sudden, jealous outburst utterly baffling and shrank back into the corner of the seat:
“Are you crazy? What is there between me and him? Besides, if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have fallen into your hands!”
Yu Peishang shifted closer, using his tall, broad frame to trap him in the corner. He looked down at the boy’s face, his gaze dark. “These past three years, you’ve been hiding by Yu Xiuqing’s side, haven’t you? No wonder I couldn’t find you.”
“So what if I was?” Gu Lanxiao glared back unflinchingly, raging fire burning in his eyes.
The man let out a cold laugh. Reaching out to pinch his chin, he caressed the smooth, delicate skin with his thumb, his voice carrying a bewitching tone. “Then, once we get back, let me see just how well you’ve been living these past few years.”
Gu Lanxiao froze. A wave of ominous foreboding crept up from the depths of his heart, swiftly seizing his entire body.
Thus, in a state of utter desolation, he remained locked in the car by Yu Peishang as they drove all the way from the South to the North.
The private car finally rolled to a halt in front of a European-style mansion. Bai Xuqian turned to the man in the back and said,
“Boss, we’re home.”
Yu Peishang looked at the dazed person huddled in the corner and said softly, “Get out.”
The moment the car door opened, a freezing gust of wind, laced with snow and frost, blew right at them. The biting chill was so harsh that Gu Lanxiao could barely open his eyes. The red scarf around his neck fluttered in the wind, casting a sickly pallor over his already pale face.
He tilted his head back slightly, staring at the luxurious mansion before him with hollow, lifeless eyes. In a daze, he felt as if the beautiful dream he had lived for the past three years was finally over, and he was waking up.
He had been thrust back into a cruel reality.
His frail silhouette drifted in and out of focus amid the swirling snow, like a piece of fragile jade. He stood there in the bitter wind—lonely, despairing, and freezing.
Yu Peishang quietly watched that snow-dusted figure. A flash of complexity crossed his eyes, and a faint ache tugged at his heart.
Stepping forward, he grabbed the youth’s wrist and said gloomily, “Now that we’re home, drop this half-dead act. I don’t like people throwing attitude at me.”
Gu Lanxiao snapped back to reality. His cold, clear eyes stared straight at him, completely expressionless, like he was looking at a total stranger.
His face was so numb, and his eyes completely devoid of light. It was as if his very soul had been hollowed out, leaving behind a wooden puppet.
Yu Peishang released him. His chest tightened, a scratching, clawing agony tearing at him, and he couldn’t help but call out,
“A-Xiao?”
But Gu Lanxiao ignored him. Gathering his wind-swept collar, he slowly made his way toward the villa.
A servant opened the front doors. Upon seeing the person standing outside, the servant’s face lit up with a mix of shock and joy: “Madam has returned!”
Gu Lanxiao detested this title. Hearing it again after three years still made him incredibly uncomfortable.
Stuffing his hands into his coat pockets, he completely ignored the servant’s exclamation. He turned his head to look at the visibly pleased man and said:
“Yu Peishang, aren’t you annoying?”
Yu Peishang feigned a moment of thought and slightly raised an eyebrow. Resting a hand on the youth’s waist, he forcefully yanked him against his body and chuckled mockingly,
“Ah, true. Calling you ‘Madam’ right now is indeed a bit premature, considering I haven’t officially proposed to my A-Xiao yet.”
Gu Lanxiao’s face flushed a deep red. His bright, clear eyes were swimming with panic and fear, yet he glared back stubbornly, refusing to show weakness as he retorted,
“Only a dog would marry a piece of trash like you.”
Yu Peishang’s eyes instantly darkened. Curling his lips into a meaningful smile, he spoke with deliberate slowness:
“It doesn’t matter. One day, you will willingly marry me. I’ll be waiting for that day.”
Pressing his hands against the man’s chest, Gu Lanxiao ground his teeth together. “Then you can just wait for the day I die.”
“Yu-gege!”
Suddenly, a childish cry rang out from the living room. A teenager with skin as fair as porcelain came running over excitedly, but the moment he saw Yu Peishang embracing someone else, his expression drastically changed.
