Chapter 57: Livestreamed Appraisal part 1
The source weapons manufactured by Yun Yingzhi during the semi-finals were to be appraised via livestream the following day.
This particular set of source weapons could be controlled by as few as one person or as many as thirteen. To gather a full team of thirteen, Yun Yinghui had invited several of his close friends in addition to his usual circle of acquaintances.
Yun Yingzhi had not witnessed the process of Yun Yinghui inviting these friends, but he did overhear a conversation with Nangong Qing.
At the time, Nangong Qing was on the other end of the communication, using the excuse of wanting to see the two little cubs to specifically ask Yun Yinghui to turn on his video feed and set it to loudspeaker. Upon finally seeing the two cubs, Nangong Qing began showering them with affection, calling them “Eldest Uncle’s little heart” and “Eldest Uncle’s little treasure.”
Afterward, he told Yun Yinghui that the invited friends kept asking him: who exactly was this “Big Tough Guy”?
Since Yun Yinghui refused to tell them, they hounded Nangong Qing, Jia Qingwan, and the others for answers. They even mentioned that they, too, wanted to pet the rabbit cub and the egg cub.
Watching all of this, Yun Yingzhi couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. In just a few days of livestreaming, his two little cubs had already become the “National Group Pets” beloved by the entire Empire.
In the blink of an eye, January 20th arrived.
In accordance with the competition’s requirements, Yun Yinghui woke up at seven in the morning to prepare. He repeatedly reminded Yun Yingzhi to contact him via comms if he needed anything.
Holding the two cubs, Yun Yingzhi saw Yun Yinghui to the door.
Before leaving, Yun Yinghui patted the two little cubs and said, “Eldest Uncle will be back as soon as possible,” before departing.
The moment Yun Yinghui left, Yun Yingzhi immediately took the two cubs back to the bedroom, opened his personal terminal, and squatted in the livestream room, waiting for the broadcast to begin.
Evidently, the two little cubs had already grown accustomed to the livestream interface. Seeing Yun Yingzhi’s posture, they immediately stuck to him, waiting for the show to start.
However, what the two cubs couldn’t understand was that whenever Yun Yinghui showed them the stream, the content they wanted to see would usually start playing quickly. Why had they been waiting with Yun Yingzhi for so long, yet nothing was playing?
The rabbit cub patted Yun Yingzhi with a little paw, attempting to urge him on.
It wasn’t even eight o’clock yet, and there was still an hour left before the appraisal began.
Yun Yingzhi looked at the rabbit cub.
The rabbit cub pointed anxiously at the projected screen.
Yun Yingzhi thought for a moment and understood. “Wait a little longer,” he said.
The egg cub followed suit with his own urging.
Yun Yingzhi sighed. “It hasn’t started yet. Daddy can’t do anything about it if you act like this.”
The two little cubs urged him a few more times, but realizing they couldn’t move him, they began rummaging through their boxes for toys.
Working with silent, perfect coordination, they had a small castle, a sand tray, sofa chairs, and various miniature toys spread out within minutes.
Yun Yingzhi heard a series of thumping sounds and looked over curiously, only to see the rabbit cub attempting to put a diaper on the egg cub, who was already wearing sunglasses.
After a moment of speechless silence, Yun Yingzhi redirected his gaze to the video projection. After some thought, he searched for a keyword.
—Shaluo Star.
Suddenly, the two cubs ran over to his side.
Yun Yingzhi looked at them with confusion.
The rabbit cub pointed at the small sofa, and the egg cub hopped onto it and lay down. The rabbit cub then patted Yun Yingzhi and pointed at a cushion they had specifically placed in the garden of the large castle model.
Yun Yingzhi blinked. “…You mean, you want to sunbathe with me?”
The rabbit cub: “Da!”
The egg cub hopped down from his specialized small sofa chair and bounced onto a larger cushion nearby.
Yun Yingzhi realized his interpretation was correct; the two cubs wanted him to join them in basking under the artificial sun.
He blinked and cast a furtive glance toward the door. After confirming it was locked, he transformed from his human form into his second form.
Seeing this, the two cubs pounced over excitedly.
Yun Yingzhi went limp on the cushion prepared by the cubs, feeling the warmth of the artificial sunlight. He felt drowsy.
The rabbit cub looked at Yun Yingzhi, seemingly feeling that something was missing.
The egg cub manipulated his spatial ability, trying to fit his tiny sunglasses onto the white rabbit’s eyes, but it didn’t work—the sunglasses were far too small.
The rabbit cub then pulled out another diaper, attempting to wrap it around Yun Yingzhi.
Yun Yingzhi’s mouth twitched. He pulled both cubs into his paws to stop them, telling them to be good and watch the video interface with him.
The two cubs struggled to climb down from the white rabbit and began making mischief again.
The rabbit cub pushed a toy table in front of the cushion.
The egg cub used his spatial ability to place a rice bowl onto the toy table.
The rabbit cub added his milk bottle to the table.
Once the two cubs had set up their essential sunbathing kit, they climbed back onto the white rabbit, snuggling against him to watch the projection.
Suddenly, Yun Yingzhi saw a news notification pop up.
He quickly opened the news channel. It was the latest update regarding Shaluo Star.
Through the news program, Yun Yingzhi realized that Shaluo Star had been attacked on the very day he had last spoken with Prince Elvis.
An ordinary zerg from within an insect legion had devoured all its kin within the legion, and then moved on to devour other legions. In just a few short months, it had evolved to Level 9.
It had become a King.
A so-called Zerg King, in the absence of orders from the Queen, could command all zerg within a specific region.
Under its command, all the zerg on Shaluo Star had gathered to launch an attack on the humans on the trial planet.
For the safety of the students, the Commander-in-Chief of Shaluo Star issued an order for all students from the ten Great Military Academies to retreat to the base. That same day, the major signal towers fell once again.
If it had only gone that far, it might not have mattered as much, but the problem was…
The zerg legions had likely heard the news that Prince Elvis was on Shaluo Star. Three insect legions possessing spatial abilities had been deployed simultaneously to establish a long-distance wormhole, warping directly to Shaluo Star.
The entire planet had instantly become a battlefield, with a massive number of zerg legions attacking the base daily.
The protective shield surrounding the base was growing thinner by the day. The soldiers in the base, including the students who had come for the trial, were all engaged in a brutal battle.
The zerg were continuously sending legions into Shaluo Star, and simultaneously, major rescue fleets were closing in on the planet.
Yun Yingzhi read the lines of information with growing tension, but as he read further, he let out a sigh of relief.
The Commander-in-Chief of Shaluo Star appeared very calm. He stated that as soldiers of the Empire, they were prepared to face any unexpected event, and this was simply one of them. Since they were facing it, they would find a way to solve it.
There was always a way.
The news commentator believed that the Commander-in-Chief could remain so calm only because a solution was already in place.
Yun Yingzhi saw more information in the comments section. According to these people, they were spatial ability users themselves, and since Elvis’s spatial ability level was far higher than theirs, Elvis could appear anywhere he wished.
It could almost be said that unless someone’s ability could completely lock down space, Elvis was indestructible.
Reading these words, Yun Yingzhi instinctively looked at the egg cub, sincerely hoping that the egg cub would also inherit all of Elvis’s formidable abilities.
As if sensing Yun Yingzhi’s gaze, the egg cub nuzzled against him.
The rabbit cub also sensed Yun Yingzhi’s attention on the egg cub. Feeling a bit jealous, he performed a hop, and his tiny body flattened like a rabbit pancake against Yun Yingzhi’s face, covering his eyes.
Yun Yingzhi pulled the rabbit cub down.
Just as he was about to switch back to the Star Glory appraisal livestream, he noticed that the citizens of the Empire were venting their frustrations at the Shaluo Star Commander-in-Chief.
Prince Elvis was the sole Crown Prince of the Empire and possessed immense popularity.
When some citizens learned that Shaluo Star was in crisis, many demanded to go there for a rescue mission.
Even though Shaluo Star sent word that the situation was under control for the time being, people were still panicked and worried for the Crown Prince.
As if to appease the public, Shaluo Star opened a livestream to inform the citizens that Prince Elvis was safe and sound.
Yun Yingzhi paused, then opened the livestream video according to the link.
The official livestream platform only allowed viewing; bullet comments and regular comments were disabled. Anyone wanting to discuss the situation further had to go to unofficial sites.
The two little cubs, who had been rowdy just moments ago, instantly went quiet upon seeing Elvis on the interface.
The rabbit cub patted Yun Yingzhi with his paw and pointed at the Elvis in the projection.
In the projection, Elvis had white hair and purple pupils. He was dressed in the military academy uniform of Fanse Academy, his aura cold and heavy like a sharp blade.
Elvis’s cold purple eyes swept over the livestream drone before he retracted his gaze.
At that moment, an officer walked up to Elvis and said respectfully, “Your Highness.”
Elvis: “Mm.”
