The Straight Heartthrob: Ruthlessly Forced by a Madman Chapter 104

Chapter 104: Two Useless Pieces of Trash

Lin Shiyu, standing beside him, was clearly much better at holding his composure—though “much better” was a highly relative term. He let out a cold sneer. “You’re asking me, so who am I supposed to ask? You stick by his side every single day, yet you can’t even keep an eye on a single person. Useless trash.”

The only reason he had allowed Song Xingmian to comfortably remain by Wen Yuhuai’s side was to clear the field. They both knew exactly how popular Wen Yuhuai was. With Song Xingmian playing guard dog, it ensured that no random third, fourth, or fifth parties would have the chance to get close. Lin Shiyu only needed to focus his energy on dealing with Song Xingmian alone.

Yet this idiot couldn’t even handle such a minor task. Calling him useless trash was an understatement.

Being verbally assaulted for no reason, Song Xingmian wanted to explode on the spot. However, terrified that Wen Yuhuai might catch them spying, he forcefully lowered his voice. Gritting his teeth, he spat back, “You call me useless, but what the hell are you? Out of all of us, you’ve known Brother the longest! After all these years, you still couldn’t bend him. To this day, Brother still likes women! You’re the real useless trash here!”

Lin Shiyu’s jaw clenched subconsciously, his molars grinding together so hard he could almost taste copper. His voice remained steady, but his aura grew exponentially sharper and more lethal. “Why do you think you were allowed to stay by his side? If it weren’t for the fact that you still have some marginal use…”

His sentence was cut short as the two people inside finished their coffee and walked out.

Lin Shiyu halted mid-sentence, showing no intention of continuing. He took two steps backward until his entire body melted completely into the shadow of the pillar.

Following Wen Yuhuai without his permission was tantamount to stalking. It was an underhanded move, and he had no intention of exposing himself.

Song Xingmian clearly shared this sentiment. Swallowing his anger, he silently took two steps back as well, perfectly concealing his figure behind the pillar.

Wen Yuhuai knew exactly where the two were hiding. But since they had no intention of showing their faces, he naturally wasn’t bored enough to go out of his way to expose them. After seeing Xu Dai’en off, he walked directly out of the shopping mall.

The moment his back disappeared around the corner, the other two stepped out from behind the pillar. However, the two who had just been at each other’s throats now seemed to share a telepathic understanding. Neither of them rushed to chase after Wen Yuhuai. Instead, they retracted their gazes and exchanged a single look. Not a word was spoken, yet something seemed to be mutually agreed upon in that clash of eyes.

It was still early when Wen Yuhuai got home. He waited until the sun began to set in the west before leisurely making a phone call.

“How was it? Did you two have a good time today?”

Lin Shiyu’s tone failed to mask his disappointment, carrying an unmistakable hint of resentment. “I didn’t have a good time because I wasn’t with you.”

Having said that, he smoothly shifted the conversation, feigning nonchalance. “What about you? Didn’t you say you were going on a blind date this afternoon? How was it?”

Since Lin Shiyu was willing to play dumb, Wen Yuhuai was happy to play along. “Not bad at all. Miss Xu is quite interesting. Who knows, by the time my birthday rolls around, there might just be a double celebration. When I invite you for a drink then, you absolutely must not decline.”

Even a fool could guess what he meant by “double celebration.” Lin Shiyu finally lost his calm facade. “Ah Yu, your birthday is only ten days away. Are you seriously sure that in just ten short days, the two of you can fully understand and adapt to each other? Marriage is a major life event. You need to consider it carefully; don’t make such a rash decision.”

Wen Yuhuai maintained an air of total indifference, his tone incredibly flippant. “Who cares about the future? I like her right now. If we find out we aren’t compatible later, we can deal with it then.”

After dropping that line, he waited for Lin Shiyu’s reaction, expecting him to offer more arguments to “convince” him.

Unexpectedly, Lin Shiyu didn’t add anything further. He simply let out a sigh. “Ah Yu, what I said before still stands. I respect your choices, and I hope you find your own happiness. I just hope you won’t… regret it.”

Wen Yuhuai found his words utterly baffling. Why on earth would he regret anything?

Not overthinking it, he interrupted him. “Alright, I get it. I won’t regret it. When are you leaving? Do you still have to catch a flight tonight?”

Lin Shiyu gave a low “mn.” “I have a meeting tomorrow morning. I need to head back tonight.”

Wen Yuhuai offered a few more perfunctory pleasantries and prepared to hang up, but Lin Shiyu asked one last time. “Are you really sure you won’t regret it?”

“Put your heart back in your chest. Even if I do regret it, it’ll have absolutely nothing to do with any of you. Just mind your own business.”

For the first time, Lin Shiyu was the one to initiate hanging up the phone.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Song Xingmian turned his head to glance at him. “What did Brother say?”

Lin Shiyu looked down, his gaze lazily sweeping over the darkened phone screen. “He told us to mind our own business.”

Song Xingmian’s exquisitely beautiful brows furrowed slightly. Out of nowhere, he murmured, “What if Brother gets angry with us?”

Lin Shiyu let out a mocking laugh. “Would you rather see him get angry with us, or watch him marry someone else?”

Song Xingmian quickly weighed the pros and cons.

If Brother got angry, he could always be coaxed back. But if Brother actually ended up with someone else, they wouldn’t even have a sliver of a chance left.

Unable to rest easy, he added a warning. “Be careful with how you handle things. Don’t let Brother find out.”

Lin Shiyu’s voice was frigid. “I don’t need you to remind me.”
