Chapter 118: Who Isn’t a Baby?
“Exciting things?” Ye Ran paused. “Do you mean exciting races like this, or amusement park attractions? Like the pendulum ride or roller coasters?”
The Old Master hurriedly waved his hand. “Forget the roller coasters; they make me throw up. Racing is just fine.”
Ye Ran understood instantly. “Grandpa, I know where they have live races in Jing City. How about I take you to see one sometime?”
The Old Master’s eyes lit up immediately. “Good grandson! You’re the only one who understands me.”
In the afternoon, while the Old Master was still napping, Ye Ran went out to walk Hengbao.
A while ago, Ye Ran had been concerned about the original plot where something happened to Hengbao, so he had told the butler not to take him out.
Now that the plot had changed, he could take Hengbao out to play; the dog had been cooped up at home every day and was surely bored to death.
With his previous experience “walking” Chi Yuheng at the hospital, Ye Ran was in full control of the rhythm this time.
He absolutely could not let Hengbao go wherever he wanted; otherwise, the dog would only run further and further, and Ye Ran would be the one dragging his legs back in exhaustion after chasing him.
The boy and the dog took two laps around the park. Hengbao was having the time of his life. When he saw the swans in the lake, the pup apparently had a misunderstanding of his own breed—thinking he was the same species as the swans—and dove headfirst into the lake when Ye Ran wasn’t looking.
By the time Ye Ran noticed, Hengbao was already going, “Gurgle gurgle gurgle…”
By the time Ye Ran dragged Hengbao out, the dog was soaking wet, looking like a drowned rat. Ye Ran wasn’t much better; more than half of his clothes were drenched.
Ye Ran stared at Hengbao with a look of extreme disappointment. “Heng Xiaobao, I gave you that name so you could walk through the world ‘Heng-ing’ (horizontally/boldly). Look at you! You went straight for vertical development! If I hadn’t fished you out, you’d be sitting on the bottom by now!”
“Besides, aren’t dogs born knowing how to do the doggy paddle? Why didn’t you paddle?”
Scolded by Ye Ran, Hengbao hung his head, losing his “angelic smile.” The corners of his mouth drooped, looking adorably pitiful.
Hearing Ye Ran mention the doggy paddle seemed to have enlightened him. He suddenly shook his entire body, intending to jump back in and try again.
That shake successfully sprayed a face full of water onto Ye Ran. Ye Ran wiped his face, but Hengbao had already charged out again.
“Hey! Hey! Get back here! Heng Xiaobao, can’t you give me a break…”
Ye Ran struggled to pull Hengbao out again, but the dog then ran to the lawn. It had rained yesterday, so the soil was quite soft.
Before he even reached the middle of the lawn, he was already covered in mud. Ye Ran went to chase him, only to be sprayed again by another shake of the dog’s fur.
Finally, the boy and the dog looked like they had just returned from a disaster zone, heading back covered in grime.

What the hell kind of ‘handsome primitive man’?
And you want me to be your boyfriend? Pure dumbass.
Ye Ran couldn’t be bothered to respond and gave a cold snort. “Where did this dumbass come from?”
The person paused, their tone becoming explosive. “You’re the dumbass! Your whole family are dumbasses!”
Ye Ran turned around, intending to get into a shouting match. If it came down to it, he’d set the dog on him; the combined power of a boy and a dog would surely win.
However, when he looked back, the dumbass face of Chi Youchu crashed into his vision.
Ye Ran: “…”
Chi Youchu had already stepped out of the car. He had made a casual joke, only for Ye Ran to call him a dumbass; Chi Youchu was not happy.
Ye Ran wasn’t scared either. He glared at Chi Youchu. “Is your skin itching for a beating?”
Chi Youchu snorted coldly. “Want to fight, then?”
Consequently, when Chi Yuheng returned to the old residence that evening, what he saw were two people and a dog all covered in dirt.
Chi Yuheng’s brow furrowed into a deep “川” shape, and he looked ready to explode. “Did you two go to Africa and get robbed along the way?”
Ye Ran looked down and whispered, “No.”
Chi Yuheng’s temples throbbed. “No? What do you mean ‘no’!”
Fearing Chi Yuheng wasn’t angry enough, Ye Ran added from behind, “It wasn’t just the two of us. Hengbao was also part of the group brawl.”
Hengbao sat by Ye Ran’s leg. Hearing his name mentioned, he gave a “Woof.”
Chi Yuheng was angered into a laugh. “Bringing the dog into a fight? You’re quite proud of yourself, aren’t you?”
He swept a glance over Ye Ran and Chi Youchu’s clothes; they were so dirty he could barely see the original color.
There were even bite marks from a dog on the hem of Chi Youchu’s pants. Chi Youchu looked indignant and glared at Hengbao. “I’m the one who brought you home, and you actually helped him bite me!”
Hengbao blinked his innocent puppy eyes. He hadn’t been participating in the fight; he had clearly been trying to break it up.
Chi Yuheng’s volume suddenly rose. “Do you think just because we’re at the old residence, I won’t deal with you two?”
The two of them moved in unison, shrinking their necks and standing there like quails.
Seeing his two grandsons being scolded like children, the Old Master couldn’t watch any longer and came to the rescue.
“It’s normal for children to play and bicker. It’s not like they did anything too ‘exciting.’ Don’t be so loud.”
“Children?” Chi Yuheng’s voice cooled. “How old are they!”
With Old Master Chi starting the front, Ye Ran and Chi Youchu naturally followed suit, immediately echoing him.
Ye Ran: “We’re still small. Don’t be mean to us.”
Chi Youchu: “Exactly. Who isn’t a baby?”
Ye Ran acted pitiful. “Right, we’re just 200-plus-month-old babies.”
With four people in the house, three of them automatically formed a group, kicking Chi Yuheng to the side.
Chi Yuheng’s gaze cooled completely, and the air pressure around him became extremely low. “Fine. Since you’re all babies, you can all stand in the corner tonight.”
Chi Youchu immediately wailed, “Brother, I just got back. I haven’t eaten yet. I’m hungry! You can’t even let us eat?”
Ye Ran joined the queue. “I’m hungry too…”
Chi Yuheng said coldly, “Eat first.”
Old Master Chi: “Shower first.”
Chi Youchu looked at them. “…How about together?”
