After Transmigrating into a Book, the Trash Substitute Tamed the Cultivation World Chapter 153

Chapter 153: Good on You, Second Senior Uncle

Dressed as a man and a woman, they were actually mistaken for a married couple while queuing to enter the city.

Feng Shi wore a look of deep resentment, while Shen Songhe guilty glanced him up and down.

Neither denied it. After all, saying too much could lead to mistakes. In a place like Qianqiu City, not only was being too good-looking a liability, but being single was too.

Having a Dao companion as a cover should save them quite a bit of trouble.

Entering Qianqiu City, the scenery was vastly different from what Feng Shi had seen before.

He had done a little digging prior to coming. Although it had only been a brief hundred years, he hadn’t expected that the current Sect Master of the Hehuan Sect was actually not Zhao Xianyun, but another man named Zhu Xin.

The position of Sect Master in the Hehuan Sect had always been hereditary. With different surnames, it was impossible for Zhao Xianyun to be the direct heir in the line of succession.

This meant that Zhao Xianyun likely ascended to the position of Sect Master only after the Immortal-Demon War, following Zhu Xin’s death.

Right now, Qianqiu City was a chaotic mess of debauchery. While bustling and prosperous, it was entirely filled with blatant venues of sensual pleasure, more than ten times more chaotic than the Qianqiu City under Zhao Xianyun’s future rule.

Immediately upon entering the city, everywhere they looked were men and women dressed provocatively with flirtatious expressions.

Even more, if two people hit it off on the streets, they would simply find an inn and openly embrace, engaging in their steamy affairs right then and there.

And the manuals peddled on the streets were all dual cultivation methods. This Sect Master Zhu Xin was certainly not stingy, putting introductory cultivation methods out in the open for anyone to read.

For this reason, those who came here were mostly cultivators who had encountered bottlenecks and sought a breakthrough.

The item Second Senior Uncle wanted Feng Shi to fetch was inside an inn in this city. Feng Shi and Shen Songhe twisted and turned, asked several shopkeepers, and after being harassed half a dozen times, finally found their target inn.

“Phew… The people here are truly hard to handle. Xiao He, make sure you don’t pick up any bad habits from them.” Wiping sweat from his brow, Feng Shi cast a glance at his companion.

Even with ordinary appearances, their figures were highly sought after, resulting in no shortage of entanglements along the way.

Hearing this, Shen Songhe nodded, seeming to half-understand. However, experiencing the naive restlessness of youth, he couldn’t entirely suppress his curiosity, his gaze frequently drifting toward the colorful books on the street stalls.

The inn was named Hongyuan (Red Destiny), a rather tacky name, but its exterior was incredibly grand, and the flow of customers was endless.

Feng Shi led Shen Songhe inside. The first thing that caught their eye was a luxurious counter, behind which stood two handsome men serving guests. The inn also boasted many attendants. As soon as they entered, someone approached them.

“Will the two guests be dining?”

Feng Shi put on a smile. “Excuse me, I’m here to see the boss to retrieve something. Could you please pass on a message?”

Upon hearing the word ‘boss’, the attendant’s expression shifted slightly. He said awkwardly, “I’m terribly sorry, dear guest. The boss is busy and doesn’t see outsiders.”

Understanding the implication, Feng Shi maintained his faint smile. He lowered his head and retrieved the token his Martial Uncle had given him from his robes. “Do you recognize this?”

In his hand was a short flute, its end adorned with a delicate green tassel.

The attendant looked confused, but a sharp-eyed man at the counter spotted the item in his hand and quickly hurried over.

Silently, Feng Shi handed him the short flute. After examining it, a knowing smile appeared on the man’s face. He gestured to lead the way. “Please.”

Feng Shi and Shen Songhe exchanged a glance and followed the man to the top floor. Pushing open the door to an inconspicuous small room, they found an entirely different world inside.

It was a cozy, warmly decorated farmyard. Chickens and ducks roamed the ground, and a large yellow dog tethered to a pillar by the door raised its head to look as they entered.

“Boss, the esteemed guest you’ve been waiting for has arrived,” the man who brought them called out loudly toward the courtyard.

After calling out, he turned to Feng Shi. “Please wait a moment, dear guest. The master will be out shortly. I shall take my leave.”

Feng Shi nodded.

Although this man’s expression and posture were perfectly appropriate, Feng Shi sensed an inexplicable, subtle hint of panic from him.

After the man left, the door behind them vanished, replaced by a vast expanse of lush, green wheat fields.

The sun hung lazily in the sky, offering a comfortable, non-scorching warmth.

Barely had the guiding man left when the wooden door in front of them burst open with a loud bang, blown by a sudden gust of wind.

The yellow dog at the door tucked its tail in fright, but a moment later, it began barking while wagging its tail.

Though Feng Shi’s spiritual power was temporarily sealed, his five senses remained far keener than those of an ordinary person. Thus, before the figure that flew out of the door could pounce on him, he dodged it.

The figure immediately shouted, “What are you dodging for? You think I’m going to eat you?!”

Feng Shi: “…Boss lady…”

“Boss lady? You actually called me boss lady, Zhu Chen! Have you eaten the heart of a bear and the gall of a leopard!”

Zhu Chen?

Feng Shi let out a sigh of relief. “This… um, I don’t know what to call you, but I’m not Zhu Chen.”

The person finally stood still, allowing her face to be seen clearly. It was actually a young girl of thirteen or fourteen, wearing a green headscarf. Her hair was thick and dark, and her eyes shone brightly.

“…”

Feng Shi was silently shocked.

Good on you, Second Senior Uncle. You certainly know how to play the field.

“Stop spouting nonsense! Don’t think that just because you changed your gender I won’t recognize you!”

Feng Shi hastily waved his hands. “It’s really a misunderstanding! I’m his Martial Nephew…”

Before he could finish, the person grabbed his ear fiercely. “Let me tell you, now that you’re here this time, don’t even think about leaving!”

Feng Shi: “No… ouch, ouch, ouch, that hurts!”

He was dragged into the house by his ear. Beside him, Shen Songhe grew anxious and immediately attacked.

Unexpectedly, although this woman looked like an innocent young girl, her strength was unfathomable. She effortlessly deflected Shen Songhe’s attack and restrained him.

Having dealt with Shen Songhe, the woman turned her furious glare back to Feng Shi, her voice shrill. “Great! We haven’t seen each other for how long, and you’ve already found a new paramour! And it’s a man!”

Feng Shi looked at Shen Songhe. “…”

He complained bitterly in his heart: Second Senior Uncle! You really are a lucky man!

It wasn’t until he was dragged by the ear all the way into the house and had three iron locks slapped onto his wrists and ankles that his poor ear was finally released.

His previously fair ears were now flushed blood-red. Tentatively opening his mouth and seeing the woman sipping tea with her hands on her hips, Feng Shi rattled off his explanation as if fast-forwarding, trying to finish in one breath so he wouldn’t get burned. “ActuallyIAmJustALittleDiscipleOfTheChongshanSectZhuChenIsMySecondSeniorUncleIAmHereToHelpHimFetchSomethingI’mReallyNotHim!”

He spoke so quickly that the two people in the room were completely bewildered.

When the reality sank in, the woman’s face changed drastically. The teacup in her hand shattered instantly, spilling tea all over the floor, but her gaze fell upon the rippling wheat fields outside the door.

Feng Shi fell silent. He didn’t know if she believed him or if she would kill them both in a fit of rage.

With this thought, about half the time it takes to drink a cup of tea passed.

Just as Feng Shi was growing tense, the chains on his wrists and ankles suddenly loosened, and Shen Songhe broke free from his restraints as well.

It seemed this woman was letting them go.

Feng Shi stood up from the stool and offered a bow to the woman, who was immersed in a gloomy aura. “Senior, it is this junior’s fault for not explaining clearly in time, causing you to misunderstand.”

The woman remained motionless. Only after a long while did she turn her eyes and say, “It’s fine. I just missed him too much and mistook you for him.”

Seeing her suddenly shed her hostility and become delicate and fragile, a chill ran down Feng Shi’s spine for some reason, but he still asked, “Then… Senior, about the item, could you…?”

He still wanted to fetch the item as quickly as possible and return to the Chongshan Sect for his six months of retirement.

However, upon hearing his words, the woman gave a faint smile and said meaningfully, “Don’t be in such a hurry…”
