Chapter 157: His Inmate Number, 0117
“Where are we going?”
“You’ll find out when we arrive.”
“Alright!”
Alan replied enthusiastically.
As the very first member of the research group to go on a field assignment with the Group Leader—and having been personally selected by name no less—he felt boundlessly honored, wishing he could instantly add it to his resume.
From the exact millisecond he found out, his anticipation had begun to surge.
During lunch break, Su Miantang searched for information regarding the “X star system,” “Senran,” and “Manchester-Neton Prison” on the StarNet. The content that popped up was exceptionally sparse, consisting of a mere two lines:
Tenleson Esper, animal form Senran, SS-grade combat male. Incarcerated three years ago for ‘brawling and assault resulting in multiple fatalities.’
Prison sentence: one hundred years.
Aside from that, everything else—his age, identity, profession, family background, and so forth—was entirely blank. There wasn’t even a single photograph available, as if he had only been formally registered on record from the exact moment of his imprisonment.
There were only a few comments left by netizens suggesting he originated from the X star system, but it was completely impossible to verify.
With a person like this, where should she even begin?
Perhaps…
Four hours later.
The Manchester-Neton Tropical Rainforest.
Alan looked up at the prison before him, completely swathed in tens of millions of hectares of dense rainforest and shrouded in an ominous, swirling fog. His heart couldn’t help but go a little numb with dread.
“Gr… Group Leader, are you absolutely certain we haven’t come to the wrong place?”
Wasn’t this… Manchester-Neton Prison, rumored to be the most heavily guarded maximum-security facility on the Central Planet, housing the entire interstellar realm’s most dangerous maximum-security convicts?
Why on earth had the Group Leader brought him here?
“We haven’t.” Su Miantang nodded her head. “This is the exact spot.”
“Why have we come here?”
“To find Tenleson Esper. I’m hoping to extract some of his blood to save the twenty-plus children currently in critical condition.”
“Te… Tenleson?!”
The legendary Lord of All Serpents?!
The number one most dangerous element within the entire Manchester-Neton Prison!
Alan, who had caught wind of the rumors surrounding the adjacent medical school’s lunatic doctor, instantly felt his scalp go completely numb. His legs began to shake violently, leaving him barely able to stand steady.
“Gr… Group Leader, are you being serious? He is an SS-grade combat male and a dangerous maximum-security convict. Aren’t you terrified?”
Terrified.
Ever since she was a child, she had harbored a deep fear of cold-blooded creatures, particularly snakes. The mere sight of their vibrant, multicolored patterns made her entire skin crawl. Let alone today, when she was about to face the single largest python species in existence—the Senran King.
Although she had never encountered one in real life, she had heard of its terrifying renown. It was the absolute star of the movie Anacondas, capable of wiping out dozens or hundreds of people with a single, casual sweep of its massive coils.
Yet, the memory of that mother she had witnessed today, the dying child cradled in her arms, and the twenty-plus other innocent cubs left with no choice but to wait for death…
He was merely a cold-blooded beastman.
Not an actual, mindless reptile.
“I’m not afraid.”
“Group Leader, you are incredible!”
Su Miantang’s already elevated status became infinitely grander in Alan’s eyes, as if her entire build were radiating a golden, sacred aura.
“It’s nothing like that.”
Su Miantang let out a slightly guilty smile and pulled a tiny orb from her bag.
“I have this.”
“What is that?”
“The Aurora Frisbee. In the event of absolute danger, driving it with pheromones or combat power will cause its entire frame to emit a blinding light. While obscuring the opponent’s line of sight, it will rapidly escort you away from the scene at twice the speed of the fastest aircraft currently available on the market.”
“I’ve heard of that before! It’s a priceless protective amulet that only elite multi-billionaires can afford. Group Leader, you actually possess one!”
“A gift from someone.”
And he was indeed a top-tier billionaire.
A certain leopard tycoon, fearing she might get bored during his hibernation cycle, had ordered a massive batch of ‘toys’ to be delivered to her—all of which were self-defense weapons of the absolute highest military grade or above.
The image of the Qin Group’s Chief Executive Officer—the single wealthiest man in the interstellar realm who had appeared inside the laboratory that day—instantly flashed through Alan’s mind. He understood completely!
“I have another one right here that I originally intended for you to use. But since you’re terrified, I will just head inside by myself.”
“Wait!”
Alan instantly regretted his words.
“I’m not afraid! Group Leader, if you, a female, aren’t terrified, what right do I, a male, have to be scared?”
“Mnm.” A slight smile touched the corners of Su Miantang’s lips as she handed the Aurora Frisbee to him. “If we succeed in a moment, we can rescue the lives of over twenty children. If we fail, do not hesitate for a single split second—just run!”
“Haha, alright!”
“By the way…”
Although she knew it was highly improbable.
Just to be completely safe, she still inquired.
“He won’t suddenly shift into his animal form, right?”
“Of course he won’t!” Alan replied. “Shifting into one’s animal form in broad daylight right in front of absolute strangers—how is that any different from a pervert stripping naked to act like a complete degenerate?”
“That is good then.”
Su Miantang nodded her head in relief.
If it were any other beastman’s true form, it would be fine, but his… she truly wouldn’t be able to handle it.
“Let’s go.”
The two of them scanned their passes and stepped inside Manchester-Neton Prison. The guard on duty scrutinized the photographs on their identification documents, then shifted his gaze back to Su Miantang, repeating the action three or four times.
Sensing the offense, Alan couldn’t help but furrow his brows, his tone dropping slightly. “Excuse me, may we proceed inside now?”
Although his Group Leader was incredibly beautiful and drawing a few extra glances was understandable, he had never witnessed such a thoroughly impolite male, especially on the Central Planet.
“Our apologies.” The guard stood up, his eyes locking onto Su Miantang once more. “Excuse me, respected female researcher, are you completely certain you want to enter the prison facility?”
“I am certain.”
“To see Tenleson Esper?”
“Yes.”
“Have you heard of… his track record?”
“Mnm.”
The two guards simultaneously sucked in a sharp breath of cold air, exchanging a glance.
To think there were actually people completely unafraid of death.
If this male died, so be it, but she was a noble female—and so drop-dead gorgeous at that. If anything went wrong…
“Should we notify the Warden?”
“How are we supposed to notify him? Did you forget the Warden was already completely… by Tenleson last week…”
Before he could even finish his sentence, he shut his mouth tightly and pulled a document from the drawer. “If you insist on seeing him, you may, but you must sign this first.”
Su Miantang and Alan leaned forward to read it. “…” Visiting an inmate actually required signing a life-and-safety liability waiver?
Once they finished signing, the guard picked up his electric baton and escorted them deeper inside the facility.
“At this hour, the inmates aren’t in their cells; they are all gathered together in the recreation yard. This is their most relaxed state, which also makes it the absolute most dangerous period. You must be exceptionally careful once inside…”
He continued to lay out the safety guidelines as they walked.
Su Miantang cast her eyes around the surroundings.
She had assumed an interstellar prison would be entirely cyberpunk in style, radiating advanced tech and mechanical textures at every single turn. To her surprise, the interior was exceptionally primitive, practically operating in an open-air mode. Perhaps due to its location deep within the tropical rainforest, the atmosphere was incredibly humid and oppressive. Waves of brutal thuds and agonizing shrieks echoed periodically from the depths of the foliage, and before long, crews emerged carrying bloody corpses out. The entire air was saturated with a thick, suffocating stench of blood.
Rather than a prison, this place felt grandly reminiscent of an execution ground.
Sector Eleven, the maximum-security inmate recreation yard.
“Screw your beastly shit! You dare to ride on my head? Are you looking for death?”
“Ah, this feels amazing! Give me more, give me some more…”
“My legs! I’m only left with five legs!”
“This blood stinks so bad, how repulsive! Get it away from me!”
Brutal brawling, consuming illicit drugs, collective hazing, and public self-gratification—the entire recreation yard was overflowing with bloody violence, dark depravity, and complete chaos. Compared to the civilized traits of standard beastmen, these utterly unhinged, heinous convicts displayed their base animal instincts with zero filters and zero concealment.
“Inmate 0117, two researchers from the Imperial National Academy of Sciences request an audience with you—one female and one male. They are arriving at the recreation yard momentarily…”
Suddenly, a blaring electronic broadcast cut right through the chaotic din, freezing the volatile atmosphere instantly.
A few seconds later, an even grander uproar crashed over the yard like a tidal wave.
“A female?”
“A female?!”
“A female actually stepped foot inside this prison, hahaha!”
“From the Academy again? Last time, that hamster from the medical school came looking for our Boss and completely lost his wits from terror. I heard he’s still utterly insane. Who on earth has the balls to come back?”
“And it’s a female at that! She actually took our Boss’s words to heart, hahaha!”
“Maybe the government sent her over as a reward for us, knowing we’re all starving to death here!”
“Boss!”
“Boss! Boss!”
The beastmen entrenched across the yard leapt down one after another, scrambling submissively to squat right at the feet of a man positioned in the northwestern corner of the sector.
“Boss, I’ve been starving for over a decade. Do you think this female could perhaps…”
“Get the fuck away from me!”
Before his words could fully fall, a brutal blow from the heavy arm of a beastman behind him struck his skull, causing blood to instantly pour down his face.
“You repulsive lizard, you think you’re worthy of mating with a female? This is an exceptionally precious and rare resource, and the Boss hasn’t even spoken yet!”
“You brainless monkey, you don’t even know how to properly grovel. Don’t you know the Boss has always remained entirely immune to female charms? Otherwise, with so many females lining up to throw themselves into his bed, their bellies would have been stuffed full of eggs long ago!”
“The Boss doesn’t want her? Then I want this female for myself! I heard the females of the Central Planet are every single one incredibly delicate. Playing with them must yield an entirely different texture!”
“I want her too! Me too!”
Within moments, the cramped corner became packed to the brim with bodies. Hundreds of feral, desperate gazes converged onto a single spot. The man pinned under their scrutiny slowly and methodically exhaled a cloud of thick smoke, the swirling plumes subtly masking his ruggedly defined, sharp facial contours.
“You all like her?”
The corners of his lips pulled up into a smirk, radiating a peak rogue aura.
“Mnm, mnm, mnm, mnm!”
“Then in a moment… go ahead one by one.”
