【Orange × Nan Xi】 Orange’s Confession Rejected
After a morning of drawing, Orange earned 210 yuan. It was now 1:00 PM.
Nan Xi didn’t stay idle while he was drawing for others. There was a milk tea shop on this street, and he went to work as an hourly worker.
The reason the milk tea shop owner was willing to choose Nan Xi was also very simple: he was handsome.
Just standing there, many people came over just for his looks.
He didn’t need to do any other work at all; he just needed to help bag the drinks at the front counter.
The initial agreed pay was 20 yuan an hour, but as soon as Nan Xi came, the foot traffic of this shop became massive. With looks that would not be overshadowed even in the entertainment circle, who wouldn’t be dazed seeing him.
The boss was a girl and a face-con. She immediately made the final decision to give Nan Xi 30 yuan an hour.
He worked in the milk tea shop for three hours. Watching their process, he also learned how to make a few simple milk teas. It was just that needing to talk to people frequently and being stared at was very unfriendly for someone with social anxiety.
When Nan Xi left, the boss even gave him a cup of milk tea.
When Nan Xi found Orange, the other was packing up his things.
Nan Xi handed the milk tea in his hand to Orange: “For you.”
Since Orange gave him a cake in the morning, he should return the favor.
He didn’t want to owe anyone anything.
But Orange didn’t know his thoughts.
“Xiao Dui Zhang, how did you know I was thirsty?” Orange was somewhat flattered, carefully taking the milk tea.
But his heartbeat couldn’t be stopped at all. Being given milk tea by the person he liked, how could his heart not race.
He raised his head and looked at Nan Xi: “Thank you, it’s so sweet!”
For some inexplicable reason, Nan Xi felt that Orange looking up like this resembled a beautiful Ragdoll cat.
“The two of us have 300 yuan now. Surviving until tonight will definitely be no problem!”
They chose the food street for lunch. If it weren’t for the cameras, Orange would even feel like he was on a date with Nan Xi.
This event would be considered over after recording until 7:00 PM.
Without the staff following them, Orange’s courage also grew.
“Xiao Dui Zhang, since we’re already out, do you want to go to the amusement park?”
Nan Xi had absolutely no interest in amusement parks. He never liked these kinds of places to begin with, plus he always felt that the people who went to amusement parks at night were mostly couples. If it was Wen Ran, he would be very willing.
Him and Orange, what were they considered?
But out of politeness, Nan Xi still asked: “Do you want to go?”
“Of course I want to,” Orange looked thoroughly yearning. “I heard the amusement park at night is both fun and cheap. A package ticket is only one hundred per person, so we have exactly enough money.”
Since words had already reached this point, Nan Xi was too embarrassed to refuse him again, so he could only hum in agreement.
Orange almost jumped up in joy: “Then let’s hurry and go now!”
Orange bought the tickets, putting the package wristbands on both of their wrists.
The amusement park at night was indeed as Orange said, very bustling.
Many couples were holding hands, their faces brimming with happy smiles.
Orange felt he was simply too happy today. If it weren’t for this League event, he would rarely have the opportunity to stay with Nan Xi for such a long time. They were usually busy with training. Afraid of affecting Nan Xi, he never dared to confess his feelings.
But today, they had been together for almost ten hours.
He planned to keep today hidden as a little secret, a day of being “similar to a couple” with the person he liked.
The two of them casually played a few rides and arrived in front of the haunted house.
Most of the people who came to the haunted house at night were couples. Among the people lining up in front, there were three couples, as well as an old grandma bringing her grandson.
Orange thought to himself that this kid was truly too filial, bringing a grandma in her sixties or seventies to a haunted house.
Actually, he had his own little ulterior motives. The guides all said that many people improved their relationships in haunted houses, and they could even have physical contact.
Orange didn’t expect to be hugged by Nan Xi or anything. As long as the other could hold his hand, even for just a second, he would be satisfied.
But after going inside, Orange started to regret it. The atmosphere was truly too eerie. Faint green light, coupled with terrifying sound effects, made Orange feel his scalp tingling.
Some timid girls had already shrunk into their boyfriends’ arms.
Suddenly, a burst of eerie, cackling laughter rang out, and a human head with a gaping, blood-red mouth flew toward them!
“Ah!”
A girl screamed in terror, tightly hugging her boyfriend’s waist, burying her entire body in his embrace. The boy also soothed the girl’s emotions: “Don’t be scared, baby, it’s okay, it’s okay, it’s just a head.”
And this head was now hovering squarely in front of the grandma. The grandma’s somewhat aged voice scoffed: “What an ugly little thing.”
Orange: “……”
He was so scared just now that he was rooted to the spot, not daring to move, and forgot what he should say. As a result, he ended up looking like the courageous type.
Meanwhile, Nan Xi was standing to the side, exceptionally calm, without saying a word.
The group continued moving forward. Accompanied by the ghost-like wailing and wolf-like howling of the couple girls, they finally walked into a spacious room. As the narrow space suddenly expanded, Orange finally let out a soft breath.
He wasn’t a courageous person to begin with. Walking through this place almost scattered his soul. If there had been a strong light source, one would be able to see the cold sweat on his forehead.
Orange quietly glanced at Nan Xi. The other didn’t have the slightest emotion of fear. How was he supposed to hold his hand justifiably like this!
Let alone holding hands, he and Nan Xi were like two lone wolves walking side by side, always separated by a gap, without even any physical contact.
Moreover, with Nan Xi being so brave, Orange was embarrassed to act too timid. After all, coming to play in the haunted house was his idea first. If he became too scared first, wouldn’t his motive for inviting the other in become blatantly obvious?
Orange could only place his hopes on the haunted house run finishing quickly now.
If a few more big scares came, he really wouldn’t be able to pretend anymore!
As a result, whatever he feared came true.
After walking a few steps further inside, Orange was horrified to discover that inside was a morgue. The “corpses” were all covered with white cloths.
It was as terrifying as it could get!
Orange swallowed his saliva. His heart was now in his throat.
Suddenly, a sinister wind blew past, and the corpses all sat up simultaneously.
One of the corpses actually jumped right off the bed and charged toward them!
“Holy sh*t!”
Orange’s soul was instantly frightened out of his body. “Don’t come over!”
Yet, his body instinctively blocked in front of Nan Xi. He closed his eyes nervously: “Don’t be scared, Jian Yu, I’ll protect you!”
Orange gritted his teeth, his eyes squeezed tightly shut. Under high mental tension, he had no idea what was happening outside.
It wasn’t until Nan Xi gently patted his shoulder: “An Chenxia, it’s okay now.”
Orange finally opened his eyes with trepidation. His pitiful little face was scrunched up into a ball, looking incredibly wronged.
Nan Xi found it somewhat amusing. It was obvious he was so timid himself, yet he still thought about protecting someone else.
Orange was a year older than him, but his appearance made him look like the youngest in the team.
Even in terms of personality, he was very lively and had a good relationship with his teammates.
Therefore, Nan Xi had never treated him like an older “brother”, instead feeling that he wasn’t even as mature as himself.
The male half of that couple had immediately abandoned his girlfriend and ran to the side upon seeing the corpse move. He was now being interrogated by the girl.
The grandma, however, wasn’t scared at all, instead telling the female ghost to move aside and stop blocking her way.
Orange couldn’t help but sigh in admiration. This is truly ‘My Grandma is the Zhao Zilong of Changshan’!
In the end, under the grandma’s leadership, the group walked out of the haunted house. Until the very end, Orange didn’t manage to get his hand held by Nan Xi even once.
He endured today’s scare for nothing!
But fortunately, there were many other entertainment facilities, and today there was actually a mascot performance.
Many people gathered in a circle. Inside, a mascot bear and a mascot rabbit were performing a show, and a parade float was playing music.
The little mascot bear particularly liked interacting with the tourists. At the end of the performance, it took out a bouquet of roses and randomly gave the flowers away, one by one.
Then, it came in front of Orange. After its adorkable big eyes made eye contact with Orange, it gave the rose to him.
Orange received it joyfully: “Thank you, little bear!”
The little bear performed a cute gentleman’s bow, then skipped away.
Orange looked at the rose in his hand, the rich fragrance lingering at the tip of his nose.
The passionate red rose was blooming, and in the distance, an elegantly dressed lady was playing the violin. The melodious sound of the music drifted over, making it truly suitable for falling in love.
The person he liked was standing right beside him. Orange’s heart was filled up bit by bit by him.
He felt he should do something.
“Jian Yu,” Orange mustered his courage: “I like you.”
He offered the rose in his hand: “Can you be my boyfriend?”
Even though he had mentally prepared himself countless times, when it came time to actually say it, Orange still couldn’t help but blush.
The racing of his heart also crept up to the tips of his ears.
His hands trembled slightly from nervousness, his heart anticipating the other’s response.
But a full minute passed. His raised hand grew tired, and the rose was still not taken away by anyone.
Orange raised his head in astonishment, only to see that Nan Xi had no intention of accepting it at all.
The other furrowed his brow slightly, but the words he spoke didn’t drag on in the slightest: “Sorry, I cannot.”
Orange was so embarrassed right now that he wished he could find a crack in the ground to crawl into. It seemed he really shouldn’t have confessed so simply and hastily.
“Oh…” Orange helplessly retracted the rose and hid it behind his back: “I, I understand.”
In fact, Orange knew clearly in his heart that with a personality like Jian Yu’s, it would be strange if he agreed to him right away!
He didn’t plan for the other to accept him all at once anyway. After all, Jian Yu’s personality was a bit exclusionary, and it seemed no one could truly walk into his heart.
But Orange liked him, and he was willing to spend time to slowly enter the other’s world.
The awkwardness of being rejected made Orange only able to stiffly change the subject: “Then, should we still play?”
Nan Xi turned around directly and said lightly: “Let’s go back.”
