Chapter 70: What Did Zhou Xuyan Do to Shen Yuan?
“Yuanyuan!”
Zhou Xuyan yelled anxiously, forcefully shoving away the psychiatric patients sitting on Shen Yuan and eating.
By now, Shen Yuan was already covered in wounds. Zhou Xuyan was instantly at a loss, not knowing how to even touch him. Finally, with trembling hands, he carefully helped the boy sit up.
A groggy Shen Yuan felt someone calling him by his ear. His entirely freezing body was also pulled into a warm chest. That familiar warmth brought him a sense of security.
He tried hard to open his eyes wide, wanting to see exactly what the person in front of him looked like, yet his eyelids felt as heavy as lead, unable to see clearly from beginning to end.
Also running in with him was Meng Nanyi. The stench permeating the room made him stop in his tracks.
Covering his nose, he cast his gaze upon the unrecognizable youth on the floor, momentarily stunned with surprise.
How could someone be tortured into such a ghastly state?
Especially that face—which, even marred by filth, remained breathtakingly beautiful—coupled with Zhou Xuyan’s anxiety, caused an inexplicable sense of crisis to well up in him.
Looking at Shen Yuan’s disheveled state and the filthy trash stuck to his head, Zhou Xuyan felt as if a knife had been viciously plunged into his heart.
“I’m sorry, Yuanyuan. I came too late…”
He murmured in deep self-blame, quickly stripping off his own jacket to wrap around Shen Yuan’s frail body.
If he hadn’t come to visit his mentally unstable father and happened to pass by this room, Shen Yuan would probably have been tortured to death by that creature, Su Huaiyao!
Shen Yuan thought Yu Xiuqing had come to pick him up. The corners of his mouth twitched weakly, curling into a slight smile as he said hoarsely, “Hubby… missed you so much…”
Hubby?
Hearing this form of address, Zhou Xuyan’s heart suddenly skipped a beat. But he quickly realized the other would never call him that; he was undoubtedly calling for Yu Xiuqing.
His eyes were severely red. He sorrowfully closed his eyes, holding tightly onto the youth in his arms who already belonged to someone else.
Seeing his own boyfriend actually hugging and holding someone else right in front of him, Meng Nanyi was furious.
He marched straight over, raising his palm without a word and slapping Shen Yuan heavily across the face. Then, violently pulling at the youth’s shoulder, overwhelmed with jealousy, he threw an unreasonable tantrum:
“Get lost, you vixen! Stop lying in Zhou-gege’s arms!”
Shen Yuan’s face snapped to the side from the slap. His chest heaved violently as he breathed weakly, “Cough, cough… it hurts…”
“Meng Nanyi, why did you hit him?!”
Zhou Xuyan said angrily, shoving the unreasonable youth away and soothingly rubbing Shen Yuan’s chest with heartache.
Meng Nanyi was shoved straight onto the floor. Looking at the man who was usually completely obedient to him now actually getting physical with him to defend someone else…
He had never been treated like this in his entire life!
Gritting his teeth, angry and resentful, he dusted off his butt and stood up, commanding with the tone of a master to a servant:
“Hey! Are you out of your mind? I’m your boyfriend! Do you still want me to pay for your dad’s medical bills? If you do, quickly let go of that dirty thing!”
Hearing this, Zhou Xuyan froze. A deep sense of helplessness and sorrow spread from the bottom of his heart.
If it weren’t for the fact that his father desperately needed a massive sum for expensive medical bills, he would never have compromised himself to be the boyfriend of such an unreasonable person!
Seeing his silence, Meng Nanyi’s voice grew more frantic: “Did you hear what I said? Let go of him! I’m angry; you won’t get a single cent!”
“He’s not dirty.”
Zhou Xuyan said abruptly amidst the barrage of noisy curses. He then looked down at the person in his arms, gently smoothing Shen Yuan’s messy hair.
Meng Nanyi had never seen him treat someone with such care. Even the smiles he received weren’t genuine. He couldn’t help but panic slightly.
But his spoiled young master temper still made it impossible for him to tolerate. Pointing at Zhou Xuyan’s neck, he threatened:
“I’ll count to three. One, two…”
“Enough, stop making a scene. I’m going to take him to get his wounds bandaged first.” Zhou Xuyan interrupted, scooping Shen Yuan up in his arms and taking long strides toward the door.
Seeing himself ignored once again, Meng Nanyi immediately ran in front of the man, spreading his arms to block the way, glaring fiercely: “I will repeat it once more. Throw him away!”
Zhou Xuyan felt his head splitting from the noise. Faced with the relentless pestering of this young master of the Meng family, he finally reached the end of his patience. Word by word, he said:
“Meng, Nanyi, move!”
Meng Nanyi clenched his teeth, shaking his head stubbornly.
When had he ever suffered such a grievance? Tears shimmered faintly in his eyes, and his arms slowly dropped.
“Zhou Xuyan, you actually yelled at me? You’re turning around and bullying me for some person of unknown origin?!”
Meng Nanyi pointed a trembling finger at the youth held tightly in his arms, demanding angrily.
“I…”
Zhou Xuyan opened his mouth, but just as he was about to explain, the other person ran out of the hospital room crying.
He didn’t have the luxury of chasing after him. He looked down at the little fellow leaning against his chest, breathing weakly. The most important thing right now was to get Shen Yuan to wake up!
Right after Zhou Xuyan left carrying the person, Yu Xiuqing arrived. The moment he stepped half a foot into the room and saw the absolute mess inside, his heart grew inexplicably tense.
Yu Xiuqing hurried to the hospital bed and yanked the blanket back, only to find the bed completely empty. The pillow had fallen under the bed, and there was no sign of Shen Yuan whatsoever.
Moreover, given the other’s current physical condition, let alone opening the door and running away, just getting out of bed would be difficult!
Just as he was searching all the surrounding corners, he suddenly spotted a small patch of fresh blood on the floor.
Why would there be blood on a perfectly clean floor?!
An ominous premonition arose spontaneously.
Yu Xiuqing half-squatted, lightly smudging the bloodstain with his index finger. He found it hadn’t coagulated yet—it was clearly left within the half-hour before his arrival.
As to whose it was, that was unknown.
Could it be that fool’s…
Thinking of this possibility, his face grew increasingly grave. Standing up, he turned and barked at the bodyguard:
“What happened?!”
Qi Yunzhao frowned deeply, immediately pulling out his phone from his pocket while responding: “Unclear. Please wait a moment, Sanye. I will contact the surveillance room.”
“Hurry.”
Yu Xiuqing waved his hand irritably.
Su Huaiyao, who had stealthily crept back to the doorway, turned pale with fright the moment he heard they were going to check the surveillance footage. His entire heart hammered wildly with panic, ready to leap out of his chest.
What do I do, what do I do…!
Because of the musical score at Old Master Yu’s birthday banquet, his identity was incredibly sensitive right now. He had to be extremely cautious even stepping out of the house, terrified of being photographed by paparazzi.
So, upon arriving at the psychiatric hospital, he had headed straight for Shen Yuan, having absolutely no time to go to the surveillance room to delete the footage!
This way, wouldn’t his secret torture of Shen Yuan be discovered by Yu Xiuqing?
He understood this man extremely well. As long as it was his possession, no matter what it was, nobody else was allowed to touch it!
Su Huaiyao was sweating profusely with anxiety. Seeing Qi Yunzhao about to dial the number, he rushed blindly into the hospital room, feigning an extremely anxious appearance, and shouted:
“Xiuqing-gege! Something terrible has happened!”
Hearing the familiar voice, Yu Xiuqing turned his head in surprise and saw the panting young man.
“Xiaoyao, what are you doing here?!”
He didn’t step forward to help Su Huaiyao up, but instead cast a suspicious glance at Qi Yunzhao beside him.
He hadn’t told anyone his whereabouts!
Qi Yunzhao already felt the anger in the man’s eyes. He bowed slightly, saying apologetically:
“Apologies, Sanye. Mr. Su kept asking about your itinerary. I had no choice but to tell him.”
“Don’t let it happen again.”
Yu Xiuqing warned coldly. He then looked back at the flushed Su Huaiyao, his tone softening slightly: “Xiaoyao, what did you just say was terrible?”
Su Huaiyao felt a pang of bitterness in his heart.
Why couldn’t Yu Xiuqing tell him his itinerary? Was he afraid he would discover he was already sleeping with Shen Yuan?
Su Huaiyao bit his lip in frustration, his voice muffled: “I know where Shen Yuan went…”
Hearing this, Yu Xiuqing immediately grabbed his wrist, looking at him urgently: “Where?!”
The worry and anxiety in the man’s eyes were things he had never shown him all these years. Although Su Huaiyao felt extremely displeased, he tried his best to hide his abnormality.
He quickly adjusted his state, his eyes red. Looking as if he had been badly frightened, he said tremblingly:
“Xiuqing-gege, do you know? Shen Yuan was taken away by Zhou Xuyan! I originally wanted to come find you, but I happened to stumble upon Zhou Xuyan raping Shen Yuan!”
Outside the hospital room, Meng Nanyi stopped in his tracks, just in time to hear Su Huaiyao slandering Zhou Xuyan!
If his guess was correct, that youth named Shen Yuan was the one tortured by Su Huaiyao, right?
How could he now frame Zhou-gege!
Meng Nanyi was instantly furious. Just as he was about to run in and defend Zhou Xuyan, he suddenly remembered how the man had shoved him to the floor for Shen Yuan. His heart instantly sank in disappointment.
He quietly pulled his foot back.
Inside the room.
“What?!”
The voice rose a few notches, laden with disbelief.
Yu Xiuqing’s face instantly turned livid. He violently grabbed Su Huaiyao’s wrist, demanding harshly: “Say that again! What exactly did Zhou Xuyan do to Shen Yuan?!”
Su Huaiyao was terrified by his ferocious appearance, never expecting he would go this crazy over Shen Yuan!
Waves of piercing pain hit his wrist. His legs trembled incessantly, yet he continued to lie without changing his expression:
“Shen Yuan resisted, which angered Zhou Xuyan, and he was beaten until he bled. I didn’t dare go in, so I ran to get a doctor. He should be in a hospital room right now!”
“Which room? Take me there!”
Yu Xiuqing immediately grabbed his hand and strode out, his entire body radiating a thick hostility: “I knew from the start that Zhou Xuyan was no good!”
Meng Nanyi, hiding by the door, quickly shrank back. Panic-stricken, not wanting to be discovered, he desperately opened the door to the room on the right and hid inside.
He pressed his ear tightly against the door panel, holding his breath as he listened to the footsteps gradually fading away outside.
Suddenly, someone grabbed him from behind. Meng Nanyi instinctively let out a scream. Turning around, he saw a patient grinning foolishly at him, still chewing on a cockroach in his mouth.
“Ah!”
