Chapter 51: You Also Want to Curry Favor with My Grandfather?
The sound of high heels striking the floor approached. Qi Yunzhao snapped his head up. Looking at the woman standing before him, he still bowed slightly and said expressionlessly:
“Madam Su.”
Song Wei crossed her arms and looked the man up and down. Her eyes suddenly landed on the tight muscles of his chest, which rose and fell slightly with his breathing.
“Oh~ Bodyguard Qi is quite well-built. How many women can a man like you satisfy?”
As she spoke, she let out a light laugh. Her fox-like eyes shimmered with a mix of genuine and feigned flirtation. She brushed her long hair to her left shoulder, revealing a ruby teardrop earring.
Looking at this heavily made-up old woman acting so flirtatiously, Qi Yunzhao felt a surge of disgust.
He stepped aside to avoid her hand as she reached out to touch his chest. His voice was freezing as he warned:
“Madam Su, please show some self-respect.”
Song Wei hadn’t expected to be rejected so thoroughly. Her face turned ugly, and she rolled her eyes at him:
“I didn’t expect you to be such a dullard. Do you know how many young men go out of their way to please me? Being noticed by me is a blessing you won’t earn in many lifetimes!”
Hearing this, Qi Yunzhao suddenly seized her wrist, his fingers tightening until his nails dug into her flesh.
He narrowed his eyes at the pained woman, his eyes flashing with a lethal light as he said word by word:
“I am Sanyeâs personal bodyguard. What kind of thing are you? Trying to seduce Sanyeâs man… do you want to die?”
Song Wei was terrified by that murderous look. Perhaps she had only dared to flirt with Yu Xiuqingâs bodyguard because she had drunk too much wine; now, she was scared to death.
Her face was pale from pain, and her heavily powdered features twisted together. Although she wanted to plead for mercy, she still spoke stubbornly:
“Hiss… y-you’re hurting me! Let go! Or Iâll scream! You’re molesting me!”
Qi Yunzhao didn’t bother saying more to her. He forcefully threw her dirty hand aside, not showing her any courtesy. He said gloomily:
“If Madam Su is here to see Mister Su, then Iâll step away for a moment. Please help yourself!”
Having said that, he turned and walked away coldly.
Song Wei massaged her aching wrist and glared at his retreating back, cursing under her breath, “Dog thing! Just because youâre Master Yuâs bodyguard, you think youâre so high and mighty!”
At that moment, the door opened. Su Huaiyao stood at the entrance, surprised to see his mother in the middle of the night:
“Mom, why are you here?”
As he spoke, he peeked half his body outside and asked in confusion, “Whereâs Bodyguard Qi? I thought I heard you talking to him. What happened?”
“Nothing. That dog bodyguard is just too arrogant.”
Song Wei was indignant. She lowered her voice as she cursed, fearing Yu Xiuqing would hear.
She then pushed the bewildered Su Huaiyao into the room and followed him inside, immediately closing the door behind her. She looked quite on edge.
“Mom, what is it?” Su Huaiyao was a bit lost by her sudden change and hurriedly asked.
Song Wei turned to look at him with a solemn expression. After several seconds, she asked, “Xiaoyao, let me ask you. Who wrote the piano piece you played on stage earlier?”
Su Huaiyaoâs heart jolted. A flash of panic crossed his face, but he quickly forced himself to stay calm, lying, “Mom, why would you ask that? Of course itâs mine!”
“Iâm your mother; do you think I don’t know you? That piece was not composed by you!”
Song Wei exposed him directly and said seriously:
“Because every time you write a pieceâwhether for a competition or a performanceâyou bring it to me to review. And tonight’s piece was too unique; itâs simply beyond your current level.”
Su Huaiyao was stung by these words. Even his own mother didn’t acknowledge him. He suddenly felt like a failure. He clenched his fists and said dejectedly, “Mom, do even you think Iâm not worthy of reaching that level…”
“Of course not! Although stealing or borrowing someone else’s music as a pianist is shameful, what does that matter? As long as it makes you famous, it doesn’t matter how many methods you use to steal or snatch it; there is no problem!”
Song Wei patted the youth’s shoulder and comforted him. Her expression was twisted and dark. Clearly, her own status and fame in the music world had been obtained through such means.
“Mhm!” Su Huaiyaoâs sorrow turned to joy.
“By the way, who did you steal this piece from? Iâve studied music for decades, and this is the first time Iâve heard such an infectious melody. Every beat was something I hadn’t expected.”
Song Weiâs eyes sparkled as she asked, “Is it a professor from your music academy? Or some Grade 10 pianist?”
“No.”
Su Huaiyao shook his head.
“Then who is it?”
Su Huaiyao hesitated, but he couldn’t resist his mother’s questioning. He could only stammer out an answer:
“Itâs… that fool, Shen Yuan.”
He wished it had been some professor or pianist rather than a fool who couldn’t even speak clearly! It made him feel like his own intelligence had been insulted!
Song Wei froze. She clearly didn’t believe it and scoffed, “How could it be that stupid thing?”
Su Huaiyao grew anxious and grabbed her arm, explaining desperately, “Mom, itâs true. Iâm not lying to you. That fool really can write such music!”
Seeing that her son didn’t look like he was lying, Song Wei wavered. Then she suddenly realized:
“As expected. No wonder Master Yu spent two billion to buy a fool. To be noticed in a place like that, he must have some talent. I truly didn’t expect it!”
“Mom, what should we do now? I don’t know if Shen Yuan will continue writing the Chairmanâs score. If he becomes successful, my status in the music world will be unstable!”
Song Wei pulled her hand back and said, “What are you panicking for? Have you thought about your own score?”
Su Huaiyao lowered his head and pursed his lips, saying hesitantly, “I couldn’t write it. Itâs too hard…”
His mother flared up upon hearing this and poked his head, “You idiot! You went to study abroad for what? What did you learn? You can’t even arrange a score!”
Su Huaiyao felt aggrieved: “Mom, this is Old Madam Yuâs score! She was a great pianist who constantly broke limits during her life! How could I possibly write it!”
“But Iâm not willing to let someone else take that one hundred million and the Yu Group subsidiary! So many people are eyeing it!”
Song Weiâs face was ugly. The thought of that one hundred million made her heart ache. After all, many famous pianists had attended the banquet tonight; the competition was incredibly fierce.
Moreover, the Yu Group was the top enterprise in Nangang. The assets of just a subsidiary would be enough for them to live luxuriously for several lifetimes!
Her teeth ground together. She turned a thought over in her head and grabbed Su Huaiyaoâs arm:
“Doesn’t Shen Yuan have talent? You find a way to make him finish the score, then snatch it. In any case, no one will believe a fool can compose a masterpiece.”
Su Huaiyao hesitated: “Will this really work?”
“We have to try everything. We must take this risk for the future of our Su family!”
…
Shen Yuan, with his bare legs, sat on the floor and felt incredibly sleepy. His small head bobbed up and down before he snapped his eyes open.
No, I can’t fall asleep!
Xiansheng will be angry!
Shen Yuan shook his head hard, trying to shake off the sleepiness. A sudden wave of cold made him shiver.
He held his shoulders with his hands, his teeth chattering. Goosebumps had appeared on his bare thighs, and his pink toes were frozen red.
“No… I need to find something to do…”
The little fool murmured. He suddenly thought of the half-finished score from the banquet.
He had heard them say it was Old Madam Yuâs last masterpiece before her death. They discussed how shocking the melody was and regretted that it was incomplete.
But Shen Yuan didn’t see what was in their eyesâflattery, praise, pity. He only felt sadness.
Recalling the notes from the score in his mind, the little fool could feel a great sorrow, as if he had lost something.
Tears uncontrollably rolled from his eyes. Shen Yuan didn’t know why he was crying; he just couldn’t stop. The heart-rending bitterness in his heart was uncontrollable.
He wiped his cheeks and stood up. He kept his legs tightly together as he walked cautiously toward the bed, not daring to make a sound.
The man on the bed had his eyes closed. His long, thick eyelashes cast two faint shadows on his face. His nose was high and straight, and his sexy, thin lips were pressed into a line.
He was so perfectâas noble as a Greek god. It made one want to touch him, to kiss him…
Shen Yuan looked at his impeccably handsome face, and his gaze gradually became obsessive.
Possessed, he raised his hand to touch the man’s well-defined face. He felt a tremor in his heart wherever his fingertip passed; his heart hammered incessantly.
He didn’t know where he had found the courage!
But his hand was simply out of control and wanted to touch him!
In the next second, Yu Xiuqing snapped his eyes open. He grabbed the small hand that was secretly touching him and yanked it hard.
Shen Yuan was pulled unexpectedly into his broad chest, letting out a startled “ah.”
The man looked down at the youth. One hand gripped his cold, soft thigh. His dark eyes were deep, filled with scrutiny and investigation. His voice was slightly husky:
“What does Yuanyuan want to do?”
Shen Yuan lifted his eyes. His small face still bore the tear tracks from his fright. In an instant, the two of them were breathing each other’s air, making the atmosphere ambiguous and tense.
He bit his lip and struggled to escape the man’s embrace, his slender legs kneeling on the snow-white sheets.
After being seduced like this multiple times, Yu Xiuqingâs gaze had already become as dark as the ocean, filled with a trace of wild desire.
“X-Xiansheng, Iâm sorry! I didn’t mean to wake you. I just wanted to borrow your phone…”
Shen Yuan was so scared he could barely speak clearly. He kept his head low, his small hands clutching the sheets in annoyance.
Yu Xiuqing was surprised by this request. He said coldly, “What do you want a phone for? To contact a man?”
The youth hurriedly looked up to protest: “No! I-I want to write down Grandpa Yuâs score…”
“Heh. You also want to curry favor with my grandfather?”
Shen Yuan didn’t answer, nor did he deny it.
Suddenly, a phone was tossed before him. From across from him came the man’s dangerous voice:
“Take it. If I find you doing anything else, I will definitely make you carry even more babies.”
