After the Straight Man Cannon Fodder Was Targeted by the Perverted Crazies Chapter 149 (vol. 2)

Chapter 19: The Incompetent and Malicious Ex-Boyfriend (19)

“Giving you one-third of the orders is enough to gorge you.”

Shen Ci’s face lit up with joy. One-third was already like a meat pie falling from the sky for him. “Thank you, President Wu.”

Wu Mu suddenly let out a soft laugh. “This is the reward you deserve.” After speaking, he stood up. “I have things to do; I’m leaving. Manager Li will coordinate the rest with you.”

Shen Ci quickly stood up from the sofa. “Okay, Mr. Wu.”

Wu Mu glanced at him again. When he turned around, a trace of darkness flickered in his eyes.

By the time he finished coordinating with Manager Li, half an hour had passed. Supervisor Wang was still waiting for him on the first floor. Seeing Shen Ci come down, he greeted him curiously. “Xiao Shen, what did Manager Li want with you?” He didn’t know Wu Mu had also spoken with Shen Ci; he thought it was just Manager Li.

Shen Ci felt inexplicably awkward. “Brother Wang, let’s chat while we eat.”

“Sure—”

After taking on the large order from “hello,” Shen Ci started recruiting people the next day and rented a warehouse of over two hundred square meters. For a time, he was quite busy.

It wasn’t until Friday, when Manager Li sent him a WeChat reminder, that he remembered he was supposed to go be a host. He had agreed with Manager Li to work part-time at “hello” every Saturday. Shen Ci’s working hours at “hello” were from 9:00 PM to 3:00 AM—six hours. It wasn’t a long time.

Naturally, he couldn’t tell Ye Qi and Ming Yanzhou that he was going to a gay bar to be a male model. He only vaguely told them he had found a night-time part-time job to make some extra cash. As for what kind of job, he didn’t say.

Although the two were curious, seeing Shen Ci’s impatient expression, they perceptively shut their mouths. After all, they never would have dreamed that Shen Ci would go be a male host—and a gay bar host at that.

The next day, Shen Ci arrived at “hello” at 8:00 PM. He needed to familiarize himself with the process beforehand since he had never done this. When he arrived, Manager Li was giving instructions to several newly recruited hosts. Seeing Shen Ci, his expression softened slightly. After a few more words, he dismissed the others.

“Shen Ci, go change first. Once you’re changed, I’ll give you some instructions.” Since he was “hired by the boss,” Manager Li’s attitude toward Shen Ci could be described as pleasant.

Shen Ci followed a server to the employees’ locker room. His clothes were the same as the group of hosts from earlier. The top was a wine-red shirt with a hollowed-out back design, but it featured black lace, making his beautiful spine appear faintly through it. This “reveal yet not reveal” style was more eye-catching than direct exposure. The shirt reached just to his navel, and the hem extended into two ribbons that wrapped around and tied into a bow at the back. The bottom was a pair of black suit trousers. He also wore a pair of black cat ears on his head.

After Shen Ci changed and came out, he expressionlessly placed the cat ears on his head. If he were the only one wearing them, he wouldn’t have agreed. But since a whole group was wearing them, Shen Ci was fearless. Making money wasn’t shameful.

When he stepped out after changing, Manager Li’s eyes lit up. The two times he’d seen Shen Ci, the man had been dressed like a retired old man; he had a beautiful face, but his taste was truly lamentable. Now that he’d changed, it was a breath of fresh air. While others needed makeup, Shen Ci’s face didn’t need it at all.

“Not bad. This outfit suits you well.”

Shen Ci didn’t know if he was being praised or insulted, but looking at Manager Li’s expression, it was likely… praise. Manager Li took Shen Ci to the lounge.

“Shen Ci, the top-floor private rooms will be calling for people later. If a guest picks you, stay in the room to drink and chat with them, liven up the atmosphere, and recommend drinks. It’s very simple…” Manager Li spoke a long list, finally saying earnestly, “In short, just don’t anger the guests. Your goal is to make them happy.”

Shen Ci: “…”

Drinking? His tolerance was okay. Livening up the atmosphere? Also okay. Coaxing people? He wasn’t great at coaxing men. But looking at Manager Li’s gaze, Shen Ci still nodded.

Lin Muyang hadn’t been to “hello” since he started dating his boyfriend. However, a couple of days ago, he discovered his boyfriend was cheating on him. Lin Muyang had practically “gone straight” for him, and he hadn’t expected the guy to cuckold him. He was so angry he had cracked his boyfriend’s head open on the spot. Seeing him in a bad mood, his friends had invited him to “hello” today.

In the private room, Ran Tao ordered several bottles of wine and looked at Lin Muyang. “How about calling some hosts to drink with us?”

Hu Xiaopang, sitting beside him, took up the talk. “Sure. I heard a batch of newcomers arrived at ‘hello.’ I wonder what they look like.” Hu Xiaopang’s name was Hu Xiang; because he was fair and plump, they all called him “Xiaopang” (Little Fatty).

Lin Muyang leaned against the sofa, looking exhausted and listless. “Whatever.”

Ran Tao clicked his tongue. “Is he even worth you acting like your life is ending? It’s embarrassing.”

Lin Muyang wasn’t actually that sad. After all, he couldn’t say he liked his boyfriend that much. He was mainly angry—it was as if his dignity had been trampled into the ground. As the eldest young master of the Lin Group, when had he ever suffered such humiliation?

Thinking of this, Lin Muyang picked up a glass of wine and downed it. Cracking his head open hadn’t sated his anger; he had to make him pay a price.

“Drinking alone is boring. Come on, let’s have one together.” Xiaopang raised a glass to them. After the three clinked glasses, Ran Tao called the manager in and told him to arrange for three hosts.

Soon, Shen Ci entered the room among a group of people. Ten people stood in a row like goods waiting to be priced. Shen Ci stood on the far left with his eyes downcast.

Ran Tao tilted his chin toward Lin Muyang. “Since you just went through a breakup, I’ll let you pick first.”

Lin Muyang lazily lifted his eyelids. He immediately saw Shen Ci standing on the far left.

“The first one on the left. Raise your head.”

First on the left? Shen Ci looked at the person beside him and belatedly realized he was the first on the left.

[Uh (=_=)]

He raised his head.

Lin Muyang’s eyes lit up. He felt as if he were in love again. He silently sat up straight and flashed Shen Ci a smile he thought could charm thousands of boys.

“You’re the one. Come over.”

Shen Ci: “…”

He walked over and sat beside Lin Muyang, but there was a “safe distance” between them—enough for another person to sit.

Lin Muyang said with a smile, “Why sit so far? I won’t eat you.”

Shen Ci: “…” He stiffened his neck and sat a bit closer.

Ran Tao arched an eyebrow. “Lin-zai has good taste. In this whole group, the one beside you is the most outstanding. ‘hello’ really recruited some good-looking people this time.”

After speaking, he looked at the remaining nine people. After a scan, he couldn’t find anyone who suited his fancy as much as Shen Ci. “Manager Li, bring in another batch.”
