Chapter 22: The Incompetent and Malicious Ex-Boyfriend (22)
“I’m the one who booked Shen Ci. You go sit on the side.”
Jiang Ningyuan put on the rascal look of a dead pig not fearing boiling water. “I feel like sitting here. I’ll sit wherever I want.”
Lin Muyang: “…” This guy was as shameless as ever!
Jiang Ningyuan picked up a glass and handed it to Shen Ci, his tone warm. “Shen Ci, when do you work here part-time?”
“Every Saturday.”
“Then I’ll find the manager later to make a reservation. Next Saturday, I’ll come drink with you.”
Lin Muyang refused to be outdone. “If anyone’s making a reservation, it’s me.”
Jiang Ningyuan ground his back teeth and glanced at Lin Muyang. “You insist on fighting me for him?”
“A-Yuan, I don’t like hearing that. What do you mean ‘fighting you’? We call this fair competition.”
Shen Ci: “…” Are these two sick? Again?
Hu Xiaopang set his glass on the table and mediated nonchalantly, “In my opinion, don’t argue anymore. Let the dice decide. Whoever rolls higher gets to book.”
Lin Muyang and Jiang Ningyuan exchanged a look and accepted Hu Xiaopang’s suggestion. After all, they were good brothers; they couldn’t actually come to blows over Shen Ci, right? That would be too unsightly and would hurt their relationship.
The boy beside Hu Xiaopang very perceptively pushed two dice cups in front of them. The two shook them around.
Lin Muyang rolled a four. Jiang Ningyuan rolled a five. He won by a narrow margin.
Lin Muyang couldn’t help but curse, “Shit.”
Jiang Ningyuan was in an excellent mood. He smiled and cupped his hands toward Lin Muyang, deliberately drawing out his words. “Thank you for letting me win, thank you.”
Lin Muyang rolled his eyes in fury. As for Shen Ci, he no longer knew what to say.
…
After a round of drinking, Ran Tao pulled them together to play cards. Jiang Ningyuan sat aside watching Shen Ci play, and meanwhile, he took out his phone to send a WeChat message to Ming Yanzhou.
[Jiang Ningyuan: Zhou-zai, why didn’t you tell me Shen Ci is a ‘1’ (Top)?]
Normally, Ming Yanzhou would have been asleep by this time. But today, Shen Ci hadn’t returned since he went out. He couldn’t sleep. Naturally, Ye Qi was also unable to sleep.
When he received Jiang Ningyuan’s message, Ming Yanzhou was momentarily puzzled. He really didn’t know who was on top or bottom between those two. After all, he hadn’t crouched at the head of their bed to watch, and it would be very rude to ask.
[Ming Yanzhou: How do you know?]
Seeing that Ming Yanzhou seemed unaware, Jiang Ningyuan arched an eyebrow.
[Jiang Ningyuan: Never mind how I know, I just know.]
Ming Yanzhou: “…”
Seeing that Ming Yanzhou didn’t reply, Jiang Ningyuan sent another one.
[Jiang Ningyuan: Brother, are you afraid of pain?]
[Ming Yanzhou: Get lost. I’m an Iron Top.]
Jiang Ningyuan was pleased. Everyone was clashing in positions; he inexplicably felt a weird sense of balance. He silently replied to Ming Yanzhou: [Shen Ci is also a ‘1’ (Top). You guys have a clash.]
Then he stopped bothering Ming Yanzhou. After putting his phone away, his gaze couldn’t help but fall on Shen Ci’s waist and hips. The waistline was smooth and tight, with a curve so beautiful one couldn’t look away. Although he knew his thoughts were a bit vulgar, he still couldn’t help it.
This waist is clearly suited for being on the bottom!
But it didn’t matter. After he won him over, they could discuss who was on top. Given his own stamina, it would be impossible for Shen Ci to overpower him. However, just to be safe, Jiang Ningyuan decided to sign up for a class tomorrow and get some good exercise.
Ming Yanzhou couldn’t help but frown at Jiang Ningyuan’s message. He had never actually considered this problem. After all, in his subjective consciousness, Shen Ci was supposed to be his wife. To that end, he was already secretly studying techniques. Although he hadn’t had any practical experience yet, he felt his skills certainly wouldn’t be bad.
However, the current priority was to kick aside the stumbling block called Ye Qi and successfully take his place. Ming Yanzhou took out the information on Ye Qi he’d received that evening and read it again.
[Ye Qi, 24 years old. ID number: *** Phone number: ***] [An orphan, adopted. Currently working in the technical department of Fengchi…]
Looking at the information on Ye Qi, Ming Yanzhou finally reached a conclusion: Ye Qi was a beautiful poor person.
The sound of a door opening came from next door, followed by footsteps heading toward the bathroom… After a moment of silence, Ming Yanzhou stood up and walked out of the room. He leaned against the doorway, waiting for Ye Qi to come out of the bathroom.
After waiting for two minutes, the bathroom door opened. Ye Qi froze for a second when he saw Ming Yanzhou leaning against the frame. His beautiful features were instantly covered in a layer of frost.
With Shen Ci not around, his dislike for Ming Yanzhou was almost written on his face. “Something wrong?” his voice was flat, without any warmth.
Ming Yanzhou didn’t care about Ye Qi’s attitude; he didn’t like Ye Qi anyway. He gave an “Mm” and got straight to the point. “Do you have time to chat?”
Ye Qi suddenly curled his lips, his smile not reaching his eyes. “Sure. I happen to be waiting for Ah Ci to return anyway, and I have nothing to do.”
Ming Yanzhou: “…”
His face darkened several shades. Ignoring Ye Qi, he led the way to the living room. Looking at his back, Ye Qi’s expression turned completely cold. He narrowed his eyes, somewhat curious about what Ming Yanzhou wanted to talk to him about.
The two sat facing each other on the sofa. It was as if a river were between them; even the air felt frozen. Ye Qi leaned lazily against the sofa, his long, narrow eyes narrowing slightly.
“Go ahead. What is it?”
“Ye Qi, break up with Brother Shen.” Ming Yanzhou looked up, his tone calm yet carrying an unquestionable firmness.
Ye Qi let out a sneer and slowly sat up straight. His heavy gaze fell on Ming Yanzhou’s face, carrying unabashed mockery. “Ming Yanzhou, you’re quite thick-skinned! A third party dreaming of taking my place actually dares to bark in front of me, the official partner? Who gave you the courage?”
Ming Yanzhou met Ye Qi’s gaze calmly, without a trace of guilt, sounding even quite righteous.
“Is five million enough?”
Ye Qi froze for a second. Naturally, it wasn’t because he was hesitating over five million, but because he hadn’t expected Ming Yanzhou to have five million. Hadn’t the guy said his family was so poor they couldn’t even pay tuition? Wasn’t he so broke he had no place to live? A father in debt, a gambling mother, a sick grandfather, and a broken version of him?
What a spectacular tragic play; his acting was certainly realistic.
Seeing Ye Qi’s silence, Ming Yanzhou didn’t hesitate to speak again. “Too little? You name a number.”
After a few seconds, Ye Qi suddenly laughed. The smile traveled from his eyes to his brows, adding an indescribable allure, causing even the air to seem to become lingering and gentle.
Ming Yanzhou frowned. Looking at Ye Qi’s face, he cursed “fox spirit” in his heart.
Ye Qi didn’t speak. He reached into the drawer and took out cigarettes and a lighter. He rarely smoked, doing so only on necessary occasions or when he was truly frustrated.
Ye Qi’s posture while smoking was very pleasing to the eye. His thin lips held the filter as he took a light puff. His slender fingers held the cigarette between them as he slowly exhaled the smoke ring.
After flicking the ash from the tip, he looked up at Ming Yanzhou and spoke slowly.
