Chapter 34: The Incompetent and Malicious Ex-Boyfriend
The door was closed behind him.
The dim light spilled over Pei Ye’s sharp shoulder line. He was leaning back in a leather lounge chair, his fingertips pinching a celadon teacup. The rising steam blurred the emotions in his eyes.
His hand, with its distinct bone structure, rested on the armrest, his thumb unconsciously rubbing the jade ring on his thumb.
The entire man radiated an indescribable sense of danger.
Once he saw Shen Ci’s face clearly, a trace of surprise flashed through his eyes.
But in the next second, it turned into a look of amusement.
He had arranged to meet Wu Mu to discuss business.
Wu Mu’s lateness had made him somewhat displeased.
Then someone had kicked his door.
The fire of irritation in his heart had flared up even more.
He had intended to see which blind fool had the audacity to kick his door.
But seeing it was Shen Ci, the anger died down, replaced by a strange excitement that spread through his heart.
“It’s you?” Pei Ye’s voice wasn’t loud, and the end of his tone carried a lazy, drawn-out quality.
He didn’t stand up, maintaining his leaning posture as his gaze fell on Shen Ci, full of scrutiny.
Shen Ci cursed in his head. How could he run into this “underworld big brother” here?
He quickly scanned the room. Besides Pei Ye and the two bodyguards behind him, there wasn’t a single soul in sight, let alone Ye Qi.
“System…”
“System…”
Shen Ci called out to the System in his mind.
But the System seemed to have dropped dead.
Seeing that Shen Ci didn’t speak, Pei Ye arched an eyebrow. “What? Are you mute?”
Shen Ci suddenly snapped back to his senses.
A fawning smile quickly broke out on his face.
“Um… Boss, I’m here to find someone. I think I have the wrong room.”
Hearing Shen Ci’s form of address, Pei Ye couldn’t help but frown.
“Pei Ye.”
Shen Ci froze for a second before realizing Pei Ye was telling him his name.
He quickly bowed and nodded, calling out again, “Boss Pei.”
Pei Ye: “…”
Pei Ye didn’t feel like debating the title anymore; the kid could call him whatever he wanted.
He leaned forward slightly.
He looked at Shen Ci with great interest. “Are you here looking for your boyfriend again?”
“Yes, he… he’s here for a business dinner. I came to find him, but I ended up in the wrong room,” Shen Ci explained hurriedly.

Pei Ye let out a low chuckle.
His thumb unconsciously rubbed the jade ring on his left hand.
“I think you weren’t here to find him, but rather…” Pei Ye intentionally drew out the word. “…rather to catch him cheating.”
What decent person looks for someone by kicking a door? Aside from catching a cheater, the only other option would be a fight.
Shen Ci’s eyes widened.
This man is a god!
How could he guess that?
Seeing Shen Ci’s shocked expression, Pei Ye’s mood improved even more. “It seems I guessed right.”
Shen Ci quickly shook his head. “No, no, you’ve misunderstood. I just came to pick him up.”
Not wanting to talk to Pei Ye any longer, Shen Ci offered a smile that was both awkward and polite. “Boss Pei, I’m in the wrong place. I won’t disturb you any further.”
Having said that, he turned to slip away, but was stopped by Pei Ye’s voice.
“Stop.”
Pei Ye reached for a cigarette, lit it, and took a drag. The smoke he exhaled blurred his expression, but his eyes remained locked on Shen Ci.
“Leave? Do you think it’s that easy to leave once you’ve entered my territory? I told you last time—if there were a next time, it wouldn’t be this simple.”
Pei Ye finished and arched an eyebrow. “This time, you delivered yourself right to me.”
Shen Ci: “…”
The smile on his face froze. He looked up at Pei Ye. “Then what does Boss Pei want? I didn’t do it on purpose; I just went to the wrong room.”
“Does intent really matter?” Pei Ye looked at Shen Ci, his gaze deep and filled with an undeniable interest.
“I’m quite interested in you.”
Shen Ci was stunned, not understanding what Pei Ye meant. His face was full of confusion.
Seeing his bewildered look, the corner of Pei Ye’s mouth hooked into a meaningful smile. He lowered his voice, his tone laced with a bit of romantic tension.
“Since your boyfriend isn’t here… how about we have an affair?”
“What did you say?” Shen Ci doubted his own ears.
What kind of predatory words was this idiot saying?
“I said… want to try with me?”
His gaze was far too direct, carrying an undisguised possessiveness.
Shen Ci took a step back, his face darkening.
“Boss Pei, I have a boyfriend. I’m not interested in an affair.”
“Oh?” The cigarette between Pei Ye’s fingers swayed slightly, the embers glowing and fading. “How would you know you’re not interested unless you try? Don’t you agree?”
His gaze was too blatant, filled with a raw interest and possessiveness that made Shen Ci’s scalp tingle.
Shen Ci glanced at Pei Ye, then looked at the two bodyguards guarding the door.
He couldn’t win a fight—absolutely could not win.
When it’s time to back down, one must back down.
“Boss Pei, you have power and status. You don’t lack for people. Why trouble a man who already has a boyfriend?”
Pei Ye stubbed out his cigarette before speaking slowly.
“You’re right. I have power and status. So… why don’t you dump your boyfriend and be with me instead?”
Shen Ci: “…”
How much did this idiot drink to end up like this?
Is he mental?
Of course, he only dared to complain in his head.
Verbally, he still tried to reason with Pei Ye. “Boss Pei, my boyfriend and I are very happy… we won’t break up.”
Pei Ye arched an eyebrow. “Really?”
Shen Ci nodded like a chick pecking at grain. “Really.”
“Then let’s have an affair. I don’t mind that you have a boyfriend.” He paused, his voice carrying a seductive quality. “Behind your boyfriend’s back… doesn’t that sound exciting?”
Shen Ci’s expression turned completely cold.
“Pei Ye, exactly what do I have to do to get out of here? Publicly coercing someone is illegal.”
Pei Ye seemed to have heard something funny. A low chuckle escaped his throat.
“Is that so? There aren’t many in this capital who dare to investigate me. Do you want me to help you call the police? Do you want to guess if they’d dare take a case against me?”
Pei Ye’s words were incredibly arrogant.
But Shen Ci’s heart sank completely. He didn’t know Pei Ye’s background.
But he could guess that Pei Ye definitely had the capital for such arrogance.
After all, in this world, power can crush a person.
“I don’t have the patience to waste any more time with you,” Pei Ye said, looking at Shen Ci.
“You have two choices.
First, leave a hand behind.
Second, please me. As long as I’m happy, I’ll let you go.”
Shen Ci’s knuckles turned white from the force of his grip.
He stared at Pei Ye’s face—nonchalant yet possessing absolute control.
His well-defined hand rested casually on the armrest, the jade ring reflecting a cold, smooth light under the dim lamps—a silent threat.
“Please you?” Shen Ci’s voice was tight, carrying a suppressed sense of humiliation. “Pei Ye, this is a threat.”
Shen Ci was furious. He was a decent family man; when had he ever dealt with such a thing!
Asking him to please another man—wasn’t that asking for his life?
“So what if it is?” Pei Ye leaned forward slightly, his shirt collar buttoned up tight.
“With me, you don’t have a third choice. Either a broken hand, or you be obedient.
You choose.”
