Are You Kidding Me! After Three Years as a Stand-in, You Say I’m the White Moonlight? Chapter 27

Chapter 27: Are You a Housewife?

Zhou Sijin followed Chen Wei’s footsteps into the kitchen. He watched as Chen Wei placed the bags on the prep station, then began taking out the items one by one, organizing them neatly into the refrigerator by category.

The fridge was soon packed to the brim. Perhaps because of the advance categorization, the arrangement of every item in the fridge looked particularly pleasing to the eye.

Looking at Chen Wei—clad in an apron, busily picking and washing vegetables—Zhou Sijin felt a surge of curiosity alongside his surprise.

The ease and skill Chen Wei displayed in the kitchen made it obvious this wasn’t something that could be learned overnight.

In the early days of their relationship, Zhou Sijin had been guarded. He hadn’t told Chen Wei anything about himself. To him back then, Chen Wei was merely a useful and pleasing plaything. Consequently, he hadn’t bothered to waste energy on a comprehensive investigation of Chen Wei’s life.

But humans are inherently creatures of desire.

Zhou Sijin was no exception. He, too, could grow addicted to the “flavor” of someone.

Yet, at that time, Zhou Sijin couldn’t understand it. Aside from their compatibility in bed, what else about Chen Wei could possibly attract him?

The man was plain and boring. Unless Zhou Sijin reached out first, Chen Wei would never take the initiative to contact him.

In the beginning, he truly had appreciated Chen Wei’s honesty and sensibility. But as time passed…

Especially at certain high-profile events, when he saw other people’s bed partners acting spoiled with their financiers—using sweet words and delicate affectations to get what they wanted—Zhou Sijin couldn’t sit still anymore!

He began to wonder: why didn’t Chen Wei treat his financier the way others did? Why didn’t he try every possible way to win his favor? Why did he never speak up to ask for the two most important things—money and resources?

For over twenty years, Zhou Sijin’s life had been smooth sailing. Because of Chen Wei, he experienced a feeling called “frustration” for the first time.

Zhou Sijin stood rooted to the spot, dazed.

Watching Chen Wei busily moving back and forth in the kitchen, a nameless, sweltering irritation rose within him.

He lowered his gaze. His peripheral vision caught an ill-timed glimpse of his own rising physical reaction.

“…”

It was just someone cooking dinner. Can’t you have a little bit of backbone?

He looked up again. Chen Wei’s firm, powerful waist, highlighted by the apron strings, fell into his view.

Zhou Sijin’s eyes darkened.

To hell with it! I just want the person! What use is a scrap of backbone?

Dropping his crossed arms, Zhou Sijin stepped forward, approaching Chen Wei one step at a time.

At that moment, Chen Wei had just placed the prepared shrimp into the frying pan. The pan had been pre-greased, and the translucent white shrimp curled and shrank the moment they touched the heat.

Since he wasn’t stir-frying at high heat, the flame was turned low. The white exterior of the shrimp gradually turned a rosy pink under the low fire.

Chen Wei picked up his chopsticks, intending to flip the shrimp. Suddenly, his body was pulled into a tight, familiar embrace from behind.

Chen Wei rolled his eyes so hard they nearly flew out:

“I’m cooking!”

“I know,” Zhou Sijin murmured, burying his head in Chen Wei’s neck.

Chen Wei suppressed his temper and turned off the stove. Setting down his chopsticks, he tried to reason with Zhou Sijin:

“Can you have some basic safety awareness?”

Zhou Sijin lifted the hem of Chen Wei’s sweater: “Don’t cook. Let’s go out to eat tonight”.

He had originally planned to take Chen Wei out for dinner tonight and had even had someone book a table in advance. Who could have known Chen Wei would return carrying two heavy bags of groceries?

Faced with Zhou Sijin’s blatant lack of respect for his hard work, Chen Wei also lost his good mood. He brushed away Zhou Sijin’s hand and picked up the chopsticks again, snapping crossly:

“Go by yourself if you want to go”.

“Mmf…”

Zhou Sijin’s attack was too fast to guard against. Chen Wei’s entire face was firmly held in the man’s palms. He left Chen Wei absolutely no room for struggle.

While nibbling on Chen Wei’s lips, Zhou Sijin teased him in a low voice:

“Are you a housewife or something?”

Chen Wei was utterly confused: “Huh?”

Seeing his expression, Zhou Sijin chuckled and untied the apron strings behind his back.

Chen Wei: “…”

No! Will someone please handle this man whose head is filled with nothing but “yellow waste”? What normal person doesn’t wear an apron while cooking?

But Zhou Sijin clearly couldn’t wait any longer.

His hands found Chen Wei’s waist, and he smoothly turned the man around to face him. Using the kitchen counter behind him for support, he pressed Chen Wei into his embrace, his palms protecting the man’s waist as he whispered into his ear:

“Let me kiss you for a while first”.

Due to Zhou Sijin’s interference, the originally planned four-course meal with two soups became three courses and one soup.

Nevertheless, Zhou Sijin ate with great satisfaction. Neither of them was a fan of heavy oil or salt, and the food Chen Wei prepared perfectly suited Zhou Sijin’s palate.

After the meal, Chen Wei intended to stand up and clear the table.

Zhou Sijin stopped him.

Under Chen Wei’s puzzled gaze, Zhou Sijin pulled out his phone and used an app to wake up the robot in the living room.

As Chen Wei watched in surprise, the robot, having received its instructions, walked over to the dining table step by step. Then, before Chen Wei’s shocked eyes, it began picking up the bowls and chopsticks one by one.

Chen Wei was instantly frozen in place.

Zhou Sijin wore a smug, arrogant expression.

Suddenly, a loud CLANG rang out from the kitchen.

The two of them turned toward the kitchen almost simultaneously.

Chen Wei’s face darkened.

Zhou Sijin scrambled to save his dignity with an explanation: “The programming is new; the robot might not be fully adjusted yet”.

The original purpose of this robot’s development was to deliver documents to various departments in the company. Basic skills like serving tea or water went without saying. If it weren’t for Zhou Sijin, no one would have associated it with washing dishes.

After all, this thing was incredibly expensive.

To put it bluntly… Truly wealthy families didn’t need it, and families that actually needed it couldn’t afford it. Therefore, there was no point in mass-producing it. As Zhou Sijin had said, it was “useless” and “tasteless”—purely a white elephant.

Fortunately, the robot was somewhat reliable and didn’t let Zhou Sijin’s face hit the floor completely. After using its built-in cleaning program to sweep up the broken shards of the bowl, it slowly turned around and resumed tidying the mess on the counter.

With no need to worry about the kitchen chores, and after they had both finished their respective washing, Zhou Sijin once again pulled Chen Wei into his arms.

Lounging on the living room sofa, his hands restlessly tormented Chen Wei.

“How was today? Did Zhang Quan make things difficult for you?”

Pressing down on Zhou Sijin’s wandering right hand, Chen Wei spoke:

“I didn’t go to see Zhang Quan today”.

Zhou Sijin raised an eyebrow, surprised: “Zhang Quan broke the appointment?”

“No.” Chen Wei shook his head. “Something came up at the company that I needed to handle”.

“I see…”

Out of respect for Chen Wei’s career, Zhou Sijin didn’t press further for details. Since he didn’t ask, Chen Wei sensibly kept his mouth shut and didn’t mention it further.
