Chapter 53: I Don’t Want to Stage a Jealous Fight Over a Man
Withdrawing his gaze, Chen Wei began formulating a countermeasure in his mind.
Getting physical was basically impossible.
With so many people in the villa, if they really started fighting, he and Han Chi wouldn’t gain any advantage at all.
But the Chen Wei right now didn’t want to run into Zhou Sijin under these circumstances.
Even less did he want to stage an absurd drama of fighting out of jealousy over a man in front of Zhou Sijin, with this boy who looked somewhat like his brother.
To him, Zhou Sijin was just a seasoning in his dull life, not a necessity.
Under necessary circumstances, he could completely discard him.
Squatting down, Chen Wei attempted one last negotiation with Ji Can.
“Do you think, given the distance between us right now, I could take you hostage before they come in?”
Chen Wei said this with the intention of just scaring him.
But who would have expected that upon hearing this, not only did the boy’s face show no trace of fear, but he even smugly stretched his neck towards him:
“Hmph, then take me hostage! It’s the perfect opportunity to see who is more important in Brother Sijin’s heart, you or me.”

Ji Can was initially stunned, but once he understood the meaning of Chen Wei’s words, his eyes carried unconcealed excitement and thrill:
“Are you really willing to leave Brother Sijin’s side?”
“Yes.” Chen Wei forced a smile and nodded at him.
Completely not expecting Chen Wei to agree so readily and decisively, Ji Can couldn’t help but feel a bit skeptical:
“How do I know you won’t go back on your word?”
Chen Wei smiled, “You said it yourself, I’m just your stand-in. As a stand-in, are you still afraid I’ll pose a threat to you?”
Since Chen Wei started speaking, Ji Can had been staring at him intently, observing his eyes and expressions.
Discovering that Chen Wei didn’t seem to be lying, he then looked up and cast a glance at the few sneaky figures hiding at the door.
Waving his hand, Ji Can said:
“Go bring him over.”
With Ji Can’s order, Jiang Chuan—his hands tied with rope and his mouth stuffed with a rag—was quickly brought in.
The moment he saw Chen Wei standing in the room, Jiang Chuan began blinking rapidly, tears of emotion streaming down his face.
“Mmph, mmph, mmph…”
Han Chi stepped forward, walked to his side, and helped him untie the rope.
Freed from his restraints, Jiang Chuan quickly stood up, ran to Chen Wei’s side in a few steps, threw his arms around him, and began sobbing and pouring out his grievances with snot and tears:
“Waaah! Brother Wei! I knew you would definitely come save me! Don’t worry! I didn’t confess a single thing Brother Han assigned me to do! I didn’t confess a word!”
Chen Wei didn’t move, letting Jiang Chuan hug him and wipe his tears and snot on his shoulder. As he spoke, Chen Wei’s gaze involuntarily shifted to Han Chi on the side.
“…” Han Chi pretended to look up at the ceiling, guiltily avoiding his gaze.
Chen Wei sighed helplessly.
Withdrawing his gaze, he lowered his eyes to glance at Jiang Chuan.
Seeing that he still had the energy to yell and scream, and confirming that he was genuinely unharmed, he raised a hand and patted him gently.
“Alright, let’s go back.”
Jiang Chuan reluctantly backed away from him.
But as soon as he turned his head, he saw Ji Can sitting in the wheelchair, looking at him with an arrogant smile.
The humiliating memories of being insulted instantly flooded his mind. Jiang Chuan rolled up his sleeves and took a step forward, ready to beat him up.
Chen Wei was quick and stopped him.
“Enough, now is not the time to act on impulse.”
Leaving aside the fact that Zhou Sijin would return at any moment, just the sheer number of servants in the villa meant that if Jiang Chuan really laid a hand on Ji Can today, it would be extremely difficult for them to get out.
Although Jiang Chuan was unwilling, he understood what Chen Wei meant.
He could only turn his head to glare at Ji Can fiercely before leaving, warning him:
“Don’t let me catch you alone next time.”
Ji Can wasn’t intimidated in the slightest. While making faces at him, he didn’t forget to provocatively stick out his tongue.
Ignoring the breakdown on Jiang Chuan’s face, he shifted his gaze and shouted to Chen Wei:
“Don’t forget what you promised me.”
Chen Wei didn’t look back, walking out without stopping for a single step, afraid that even a second’s delay would result in running right into returning Zhou Sijin.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go as he wished.
Just as the group stepped out of the room, they came face to face with Zhou Sijin, who was hurrying towards them with his men.
Chen Wei’s footsteps halted.
He could only watch helplessly as the man walked closer and closer until he stopped right in front of him.
“What’s going on?” Zhou Sijin asked.
Pursing his lips, Chen Wei was about to open his mouth to explain.
“It’s nothing, Brother Sijin. It was just an accidental misunderstanding.”
When Ji Can’s flawless voice of explanation came from behind, Chen Wei closed his half-opened mouth.
However, Zhou Sijin didn’t buy Ji Can’s explanation.
He simply looked at Chen Wei. From the moment he entered the door until now, his gaze had been locked dead onto him, not leaving for a second.
Not listening to Ji Can’s words, knitting his brows slightly, Zhou Sijin asked a second time with a deep voice:
“What’s going on?”
