Chapter 118: Entering Through the Window
The maid’s face was filled with hesitation.
Clearly, she did not know the answer.
Seeing her uncertainty, Hua Sang did not make things difficult for her.
“Go tell him that if he doesn’t come to see me soon, he will never have to see me again.”
These words clearly carried significant weight.
Before evening arrived, Hua Shan appeared before him.
Dressed in a yellow phoenix robe, Hua Shan looked noble and refined, his entire being exuding an indescribable aura of imperial power.
Though his attire back in the Crane Clan had not been lacking, he had never looked as strangely unfamiliar as he did now.
Hua Shan’s gaze immediately fell upon the untouched food on the table.
He frowned and quickly signaled the maid with his eyes to have the kitchen prepare fresh dishes.
“Why aren’t you eating?”
Once the maid departed, Hua Shan lowered his sleeves and sat down beside Hua Sang.
“Didn’t you say you wanted to see me? Why aren’t you speaking?”
Hua Sang snapped out of his trance and lowered his gaze. “How long do you plan to keep me locked up here?”
He was a person of flesh and blood, not some little pet to be imprisoned at will.
Hua Shan’s actions were a blatant lack of respect.
Hua Shan’s brow furrowed. “You want to leave?”
Hua Sang finally lifted his eyes to look at him. “You are now the Junhou of the Phoenix Clan, a man of noble status. I am but a commoner; how could I dare remain entangled with you?”
This was clearly just an excuse.
Hua Shan’s expression instantly darkened with displeasure. “I have told you: as long as I draw breath, you are not permitted to leave my side.”
“Now, hurry and eat.”
Although Hua Shan was unhappy because of Hua Sang’s words, he hadn’t forgotten the fact that the youth hadn’t eaten.
Thus, the moment the maid brought the steaming hot food to the table, Hua Shan immediately picked up the chopsticks to place food into Hua Sang’s bowl.
Hua Sang, however, remained unmoved.
It was as if everything Hua Shan did had nothing to do with him.
He neither offered a word of thanks nor picked up his chopsticks to eat the morsels placed in his bowl.
He simply sat there, staring coldly and motionlessly.
Hua Shan served him for a while, but seeing that the youth had no intention of eating, he eventually stopped.
He set the chopsticks down on the table and turned his gaze toward him.
“Do you think a hunger strike will make me let you go?”
He spoke slowly and calmly. “Give up on that thought. Even if you die, I will not let you leave this place.”
Hua Sang was well aware of Hua Shan’s obsession.
But he hadn’t expected that this paranoia would be directed so ruthlessly at him.
Beyond the shock, his heart was filled with an inexplicable sense of desolation.
He didn’t speak again.
He knew that saying more would be useless.
Once Hua Shan made a decision, it was impossible to change it easily.
Seeing his silence, Hua Shan understood his intent all too well.
His face turned completely sinister.
“You know I am not joking with you.”
He emphasized his point: “If you truly intend to starve yourself to death, I won’t even let your corpse go.”
Hua Sang simply closed his eyes, refusing to listen to Hua Shan’s threats.
Following that, Hua Sang truly chose to use a hunger strike to oppose Hua Shan.
This made Hua Shan’s heart ache with frustration.
In his anger, he could only use his own methods to bully Hua Sang upon the bedchamber mats.
However, Hua Sang, who hadn’t eaten for days, was already physically frail. After enduring Hua Shan’s various humiliations and torments, he finally could not take it and vomited blood, falling unconscious on the bed.
This terrified the usually composed Hua Shan.
He hurriedly summoned a medicine master from the Crane Clan to treat him.
Upon learning that Hua Sang was suffering from physical weakness and excessive mental distress, he finally abandoned his methods of tormenting him on the mats.
Instead, he chose to let Hua Sang take his place to be with Li Feng.
He told Hua Sang that he needed an heir to stabilize his position as Junhou, but his own body was not yet ready.
As long as Hua Sang agreed to let Li Feng conceive a child that belonged to him, he would let him go.
Hua Sang’s only desire was to escape the prison that held him. When Hua Shan made this proposal, though he felt a deep, instinctive resistance and disgust, he eventually agreed.
For the sake of freedom, after two days of deliberation, he reluctantly gave his consent.
What Hua Sang didn’t expect was that this was merely a stalling tactic by Hua Shan.
The man intended to use the child in Li Feng’s womb as a tether to keep him there forever.
The fragmented images continued to flood into Li Xuanyue’s mind.
Even so, she still found it hard to believe that these were things Hua Shan was truly capable of doing.
When she finally opened her eyes…
She saw Yin Xin, whose eyes were red from crying. Li Xuanyue was stunned.
“What’s wrong with you?”
As soon as she spoke, she realized her voice was incredibly raspy, as if she hadn’t had water in a very long time.
She struggled to prop herself up.
Her entire body felt weak and powerless.
Seeing this, Yin Xin didn’t dare just stand there; she hurried forward to support her.
“Gongzhu, you’re finally awake! Do you know you’ve been unconscious for nearly three days and nights?”
Yin Xin’s lips were still trembling as she spoke.
Heaven knew how ecstatic she was the moment she saw Li Xuanyue open her eyes.
She wanted nothing more than to throw her arms around her.
But in the end, she restrained herself.
Li Xuanyue was dazed by her words.
“You say I’ve been asleep for three days?”
What happened?
She had simply gone to sleep and dreamed of things regarding Hua Shan and Hua Sang.
How could she suddenly be unconscious for three days?
Li Xuanyue was filled with doubt.
Yin Xin hadn’t even wiped the tears from her eyes as she nodded with a sob. “Gongzhu, you have no idea how worried nu bi has been these past three days.”
“Thankfully, Divine Physician Liu said you were fine. Otherwise, nu bi would truly be guilty beyond redemption.”
Though Li Xuanyue didn’t know the reason for her three-day slumber, she knew from Yin Xin’s tearful state that she wasn’t lying.
“Has anything major happened within the clan during these three days?”
She quickly regained her usual calm and asked after adjusting her thoughts.
Yin Xin shook her head. “Everything is normal within the clan. However, several Shi Jun were very worried when they learned Gongzhu was unconscious.”
Yin Xin didn’t elaborate on the nature of their “worry.”
But seeing her awkward expression and shifting gaze, Li Xuanyue knew it wasn’t anything good.
“Gongzhu has awakened. Should I notify Jun Shi Jun and the others?”
Yin Xin looked at Li Xuanyue’s expressionless face and asked cautiously.
Several of the Shi Jun had climbed through the window in the middle of the night to check on her, and before leaving, they had instructed Yin Xin.
The moment Li Xuanyue woke up, she was to send someone to notify them immediately.
However, Yin Xin was now hesitant.
She feared this action might displease Li Xuanyue.
She hadn’t forgotten who her true master was.
