Chapter 50: No Escaping
Shi He opened the bedroom wardrobe; an entire row was filled with all kinds of beautiful clothes, including various types of dresses and styles that Ruan Zhimian usually wore.
He picked up a set of his own clothes and went to the bathroom.
Ruan Zhimian waited for two minutes before standing up. He first went to the wardrobe, then walked over to the bedroom door.
Outside the door, the tall, upright Alpha stood quietly in a blind spot out of view. In the bathroom opposite, the sound of water dripping from the shower head could still be heard.
“What is it going to be this time?”
The Ruan Zhimian before him tilted his head up, revealing the white nightdress clasped tightly in his arms, his voice tiny. “I came to find you.”
As expected, he was caught again. “I know you’re… worried that I’ll leave…”
“As long as you don’t bully me, I won’t leave…”
I won’t leave today; I’ll leave after you fall asleep.
Ruan Zhimian stepped closer in his little rabbit slippers. The collar of his white shirt was sewn with pristine white pearls. His beautiful, flushed eyes looked at the Alpha; he was far too shy, his face thoroughly red.
To Shi He, it was practically a natural catalyst.
The Alpha lowered his eyelids, pressing his fingers against the edge of his collar, as if confirming whether Ruan Zhimian truly existed.
“Really?”
Clearly a little scammer, yet right now he spoke to him so obediently, “I’m not lying to you.”
Not lying to you right now…
It’s just wearing a dress for Shi He to see. It’s not like I haven’t worn one before.
Ruan Zhimian’s line of thought was incredibly simple.
After all, the most Shi He had done before was kiss him.
Shi He didn’t answer.
Bypassing the Alpha, Ruan Zhimian stepped into the bathroom alone. “I’ll wash first…”
An arm reached over, blocking the edge of the door.
Shi He stepped into the bathroom and directly double-locked the door. Placing the nightdress from Ruan Zhimian’s hands onto a nearby rack, he lifted the boy onto the marble countertop, his left hand easily pinning both wrists down.
In the mirror, the Alpha’s pitch-black, dense eyes were clearly visible. He intimately tilted the boy’s chin up, allowing his amber pheromones to linger around Ruan Zhimian.
“Baby, I’m very happy.”
It was three o’clock in the afternoon, and the sky was still bright. Only the frosted glass in a corner of the bathroom let in some light. The entire room was perfectly quiet; only the sound of their breathing could be heard.
Ruan Zhimian’s hands were pinned behind his back, his snowy-white neck tilted up. Mist-laden, watery eyes betrayed a hint of daze as he whispered, “As long as you’re happy… that’s fine…”
Perhaps it was the distance between them that made Ruan Zhimian feel uneasy.
Or perhaps he had sensed the shift in Shi He’s emotions.
Ruan Zhimian’s toes touched the ground as his bare feet stepped onto the bathroom floor tiles. Actively drawing closer to the Alpha, he spoke in a soft, sweet voice, “Shi He, I won’t leave. Can you let go of me?”
He was like a beautiful little kitten using its fluffy tail to rub against someone back and forth.
Not only did he stealthily climb down from the countertop, but he also hooked his tail to reel him in, acting soft and delivering himself straight to his eyes. How could Shi He possibly let go?
Shi He’s dark phoenix eyes tilted up slightly, his entire presence like someone steeped in ice. He leaned halfway down, his right hand gripping the slender waist between his thumb and forefinger, gathering the boy completely into his embrace.
“I cannot.”
Ruan Zhimian’s overlapping hands were locked against the mirror over the sink.
The Alpha, who was usually so aloof and self-restrained in public, lowered his head to scrutinize this beautiful face that was shedding tears. He approached unhurriedly, his shadow almost entirely blanketing Ruan Zhimian. Tilting the boy’s chin up, a very light kiss descended, plundering his breath.
“Mianmian, you act soft around me very easily, and you act soft around others just as easily.”
A little scammer who wasn’t good with words but knew exactly how to act soft.
Give him just a sliver of an opportunity, and he would run away, leaving him behind.
Ruan Zhimian leaned his waist back, feeling somewhat unable to stand firmly. His head was dazed, and his whole being felt light.
Those damp eyes blinked several times. He actively nuzzled Shi He’s chin with his forehead, finally managing to utter a single sentence.
“Gege, I only act soft for you. Hold me, okay?”
He wanted to be embraced; he wanted warmth.
In a dangerous environment, a person would subconsciously seek out the presence that brought the most comfort—even if this danger was provided by Shi He himself.
The S-grade Alpha possessed immense self-control. Though stormy waves rolled in his dark eyes, he still inquired calmly, “Mianmian, if I hold you, what will you give me?”
“I promise you…”
Shi He’s calloused finger pad pressed against the inner side of the snowy-white, delicate wrist, tracing the dark blue pulse points before dropping a sickly and obsessive kiss.
A sense of impending danger loomed heavily in the air.
“Promise me what?”
Ruan Zhimian subconsciously provided a perfect answer. “I won’t run.”
Ruan Zhimian’s world was vibrant and colorful, whereas Shi He’s world consisted only of black, white, and gray.
Forgetting someone like him would be far too easy.
But Shi He only had one Ruan Zhimian.
“Baby, you have to be true to your word.”
Ruan Zhimian liked hugs, liked sweets, liked being coaxed, hated green onions, couldn’t eat spicy food…
Shi He remembered too many of these trivial details. He only wanted Ruan Zhimian to like him a little bit—it didn’t need to be much, just more than he liked others.
However, there were too many people around Ruan Zhimian.
Shi He was never the special one.
The Alpha finally extended his arms, pulling Ruan Zhimian into his embrace. His cold, deep gaze slipped past the dark strands of hair, landing on the edge of the snowy-white collar.
It was covered by a gland patch that only Omegas typically used, blocking the traces of the temporary marking.
Finally receiving the embrace, the little kitten nuzzled against his shoulder, obediently answering him, “Mhm, mhm.”
In the nearby bathtub, hot water gradually accumulated, the surface steaming.
Shi He turned off the faucet. Carrying Ruan Zhimian over, his steps didn’t budge an inch, showing absolutely no intention of leaving.
Ruan Zhimian shifted slightly toward the wall. “Shi He, I don’t use the bathtub to bathe.”
“There’s a shower head right next to it.”
Ruan Zhimian tried to speak again, “Gege, I like to wash by myself.”
“You promised me. You won’t run.”
Ten minutes later, the white porcelain dough ball slid straight into the bathtub along the rim. His beautiful small face popped up from the water, his eyes clear and slightly flushed.
He turned his head, extending a pristine white arm to grip the Alpha’s finger. His voice was soft and sweet, and drawing courage from who-knows-where, he murmured dizzily, “You… come.”
The S-grade Alpha’s amber pheromones were both warm and chilly.
Gradually, they even took on a hint of sweet richness.
