Chapter 59: Exposure
At four in the afternoon, Su Ning arrived at the detention center to visit Han He’an.
His goal was explicit: since the manga stated that Ruan Zhimian would marry Han He’an and pass away two years into the marriage, he needed to make sure this came to pass.
As for Han He’an’s pursuit of him written in the manga, he had no intention of accepting it.
Su Ning was still wearing his clothes from this morning—simple and pure. His eyes were still rimmed with red and his voice was soft, making him exactly the type of Omega Han He’an liked most.
Across a table, the two sat face-to-face.
The Han family had paid a substantial amount of bail money. Although Han He’an couldn’t get out due to the massive impact of his case, his treatment had improved considerably; he was currently staying in a private cell, and daily visitations were permitted.
“Student Han, although you don’t know me, I’ve admired you for a long time. I heard about your situation at school, and I believe you are an outstanding person who wouldn’t do such things…”
Su Ning’s excessive flattery was cut off directly by Han He’an.
Having been locked up for several days, he was currently fuming with rage. The Han family kept saying they would get him out on bail, but there was still no result. His eyes only lingered on Su Ning’s face for a few seconds; he had absolutely no memory of this person among his lovers.
“Just say it, what is it? I’m in no mood to chat with you.”
Su Ning quickly spoke up, “Today at school, I saw Ruan Zhimian and Shi He together. They were even hugging.”
“I’m furious on your behalf.”
Han He’an suddenly reached out, wrapping his hand around Su Ning’s neck and dragging him forward. “Stop acting like a good samaritan. Don’t think I haven’t seen Omegas like you before. What are you trying to get out of this?”
“To be with me?”
Su Ning pried Han He’an’s hand away, clutching his neck as he let out a low cough. “I’m not, I just think what he’s doing is wrong.”
The current Han He’an and Shi He were both lunatics.
Han He’an didn’t believe a single word out of Su Ning’s mouth. Although he wasn’t much of a student, he knew plenty when it came to scheming. “If you don’t like Ruan Zhimian, go deal with him. Don’t come looking for me.”
“Our engagement has already been called off. We have nothing to do with each other.”
“He distributed that PDF about you, and now everyone is misunderstanding you. Aren’t you angry?”
“Why should I be angry?”
Han He’an looked grimly at Su Ning, still putting on an air of an utterly indifferent, deeply infatuated lover. “How could our Mianmian ever distribute that kind of stuff? Shi He must have instigated it.”
“Once I get out, I’ll settle scores with Shi He personally.”
The two put on an act face-to-face. Once the visitation time ended, Su Ning left empty-handed.
Standing by the roadside, he kicked a nearby tree viciously.
“Damn it.”
Damn it. He clearly held the script, but the timing was just slightly too early. If he spilled everything to Han He’an, he wouldn’t have any leverage.
Tomorrow was the deadline for his family’s debt repayment again.
Inside a car parked along the road, Teng Yu picked up his phone. “Have someone call Su Ning and tell him to come work part-time at Saierlie tonight.”
“Mianmian, I found out.”
“Su Ning just went to see Han He’an. I suspect they’re in contact.”
At nine in the evening, the clubhouse was brilliantly illuminated. Inside a fifth-floor SVIP private room, Su Ning was wearing a waiter’s uniform, speaking to Yin Feng beside him, “Why is the pay doubled today?”
Yin Feng carried a tray. “There are a lot of guests today, and several servers called in sick.”
Su Ning couldn’t understand Yin Feng, pulling at his arm. “Why did you help Ruan Zhimian sue Han He’an? Weren’t you with Han He’an?”
“I hate Han He’an.”
Yin Feng walked forward carrying his tray. Su Ning curled his lips, muttering in a low voice, “You’ve already been marked, stop acting so high and mighty.”
Inside the SVIP private room, Ruan Zhimian, Shi He, Teng Yu, Gu Xici, and Wen Song were all present; it was a gathering of familiar acquaintances.
Ruan Zhimian didn’t drink alcohol, only fruit juice.
Yin Feng brought the drinks inside, arranging them carefully before thanking Ruan Zhimian. Over the past few days, with the Ruan family sending people to protect him, the Han family hadn’t found any opportunity to get close to him. Now, Teng Yu had brought him back to work, assigning him easy tasks.
“Is your grandmother’s health any better?”
“Much better. I moved her into a rehabilitation hospital. She’s improving day by day now and can even get out of bed to walk.”
Su Ning walked in behind him. He cast several glances at Shi He, then snuck a look at Gu Xici sitting in the corner—the future successor of the Gu family, who was also supposed to pursue him later on.
The Alpha clad in a black shirt lifted his pale, long fingers, wrapping them around Ruan Zhimian’s wrist as he listened intently to him speak.
Su Ning felt indignant. Yin Feng was falling over himself with gratitude over such minor favors; what a fool. If he had just stayed with Han He’an, what wouldn’t he have had?
Ruan Zhimian lifted his gaze, looking calmly at Su Ning. “Is there something?”
Yin Feng dragged Su Ning away. He didn’t quite understand why Su Ning had suddenly changed so drastically. “What are you trying to do?”
“We are just servers, let’s just do our jobs properly. Aren’t you supposed to be saving money to buy a house for your younger brother?”
“Heh, I’ll be sitting inside there in the future too.”
Su Ning snapped his head away and walked off, leaving Yin Feng completely baffled.
Silently, Teng Yu lifted his head, exchanging a glance with Ruan Zhimian.
He bit the bait. Something is definitely off.
Gu Xici picked up his glass. “Shi He, Ruan Zhimian, congratulations.”
Teng Yu raised his glass along with him. “We came here to celebrate today. My treat, drink as much as you like.”
Wen Song, who had already downed several glasses, looked at them with a grin. “Congratulations!”
Ruan Zhimian picked up his glass, placing it against Shi He’s, and clinked glasses with everyone.
“Thank you, everyone.”
The atmosphere was harmonious. Shi He and Gu Xici discussed the recent cooperation between their families, while Wen Song leaned halfway back in his chair, drinking lazily.
Ruan Zhimian ordered a few more drinks on the ordering tablet.
Propping up his chin, he waited until right before Su Ning was about to reappear before unhurriedly standing up. “I’m going to the restroom.”
The Alpha had had a few drinks. Half-lifting his dense, deep dark eyes, he stared at the watch on his wrist; even though the restroom was right inside the private room, he was still incredibly clingy.
Ruan Zhimian lowered his head, pressing a kiss onto those thin lips. “I’ll be right back.”
Three minutes later, Su Ning appeared carrying a tray.
He first set a glass before Shi He, making a move to support him. He couldn’t afford to wait any longer; over the past few days, because he had been staked out waiting for Shi He, he had bought several new outfits and skipped his part-time jobs, and tomorrow his debts were due.
Even if Shi He just casually gifted him an item, it would carry him through this period.
A hand reached out, forcefully shoving his arm away—it was Gu Xici.
Teng Yu sat on the sofa opposite them. Click went the camera flash.
Ruan Zhimian walked out from the side. Lowering his eyes, an icy indifference drifted across his beautiful face. His lips curved slightly into a smile as he looked at him, which only felt even more terrifying.
“Su Ning, you’re acting a bit impatient.”
It was as though… everything that transpired today had been planned long in advance.
Su Ning backed away. “What are you talking about? I don’t understand.”
He had fallen right into Ruan Zhimian’s trap.
