Chapter 13: The Small-Time Star and His Short-Tempered Sugar Daddy (Part XIII)
For a long time in the past, Fang Yinnian had been very accustomed to living alone.
There were too many matters to deal with and too many people to interact with daily, so this quiet solitude was pure enjoyment for him.
He originally thought that sharing a room idly with someone like Xiao Ji would make him want to kick Xiao Ji out in no time.
But in fact, not only did he have no desire to chase him away, but watching Xiao Ji wearing his pajamas and the housekeeper’s small floral apron while washing dishes in the kitchen, he suddenly felt a strange sense of peaceful domesticity.
He leaned against the kitchen door frame, staring at Xiao Ji’s back for a long time, wanting to say: “Xiao Ji, move in.”
But the words rolled around on his tongue a few times and were eventually swallowed back down.
For one, if people found out Xiao Ji frequently appeared near his house, it would likely cause another stir.
For another, it was just a sugar daddy and sugar baby relationship, not dating. If he got bored one day, or if Xiao Ji got tired of living, separating from this house would be another troublesome matter.
Despite this, Fang Yinnian still didn’t actively chase Xiao Ji away.
Because Xiao Ji was too quiet and very easy to order around.
If Fang Yinnian wasn’t facing Xiao Ji and seeing him, he would forget Xiao Ji’s existence during moments of concentration.
Xiao Ji seemed to always be looking down at his book, or sometimes lying flat on the floor playing mindless single-player games on his phone. But as soon as Fang Yinnian reached out or opened his mouth, whatever he wanted would be immediately delivered to his hand.
Fang Yinnian didn’t tell Xiao Ji to leave, but Xiao Ji had his own ideas.
That night, before ten o’clock, he coaxed Fang Yinnian into bed, tossed him around until twelve, and then started telling Fang Yinnian a bedtime story.
At first, Fang Yinnian refused:
” is there something f*cking wrong with you? Coaxing me like a son?”
What grown man nearing thirty needs to listen to “The Little Match Girl” to fall asleep?
But Xiao Ji had done his research. Surveys showed that many bottoms secretly look forward to and enjoy their tops telling them bedtime stories to lull them to sleep.
It has nothing to do with the story itself; it’s just about being cherished like a baby by their partner, which provides psychological satisfaction.
So Xiao Ji simply took Fang Yinnian’s reaction as saving face and saying one thing while meaning another.
He patted Fang Yinnian’s back and said to him: “Behave, sleep well, don’t fuss, be good.”
Then, before Fang Yinnian could utter the curse words he wanted to say, Xiao Ji gave him a soothing kiss to shut him up and continued telling the story.
Fang Yinnian really didn’t want to listen to this stuff, but he felt that Xiao Ji might really want to tell it.
So he could only pull a long face, thinking to himself that since he chose him, indulging Xiao Ji a couple of times and letting him satisfy his craving wasn’t a big deal.
As a result, as he listened, he actually gradually lost consciousness under Xiao Ji’s calm and steady tone.
Xiao Ji got up, tucked him in, changed his clothes, and left Fang Yinnian’s house.
037 watched the drama unfold: [The Little Phoenix isn’t that easy to coax. Your retreating-to-advance tactic probably failed completely; he didn’t take it to heart at all.]
From the moment Fang Yinnian knew Xiao Ji had thoughts about that sports brand until Xiao Ji left, Fang Yinnian only asked that one sentence at the beginning and never mentioned the matter again.
And for the next three days, Xiao Ji’s usual robotic reporting mode received no response either.
It was as if Fang Yinnian had grown bored and couldn’t be bothered to continue this meaningless and unnourishing communication with him.
Xiao Ji remained calm: [What’s the rush? Man proposes, God disposes. It’s just sowing discord; there are plenty of ways. Just wait.]
037 was just about to ask Xiao Ji if he wanted to make a bet.
Before it could open its mouth, Xiao Ji received a call from Sister Cao, telling him to attend an endorsement audition for a certain sports brand at nine o’clock tomorrow morning.
While secretly rejoicing that its mouth wasn’t fast enough, 037 immediately slapped itself, telling itself to be sworn enemies with gambling and drugs in this life.
Cheng Nuo also received the audition notice.
When he arrived at the shooting location and waited, looking at all the attractive artists and models, he felt utterly humiliated.
With his status and position, getting an endorsement should theoretically be a sure thing as long as Fang Yinnian was willing to put in the effort. Why did he need to go through this superficial formality?
Unable to bear it any longer, he told his assistant to wait there and call him when it was almost his turn, while he walked towards his nanny van and dialed Fang Yinnian’s number:
“What’s the situation? Why do I still have to audition?”
Fang Yinnian had just returned to his office after a meeting and spoke to Cheng Nuo without any politeness:
“Are you not clear about your own conditions? I am an investor, not the brand CEO’s father. You don’t fit their requirements for a spokesperson that well. If I didn’t spend money, you wouldn’t even receive an audition notice.”
“Use your acting skills to conquer their upper management. Act like a sports athlete, and they will choose you. Don’t bother me with every little f*cking thing.”
With that, he hung up directly.
“Bastard…” Cheng Nuo cursed secretly listening to the busy tone. Just as he walked to his nanny van and was about to open the door, he looked up and saw Xiao Ji getting out of a white Ford.
Wearing sunglasses, he was preparing to walk towards the audition studio.
Previously, Xiao Ji’s superior body proportions and flawless face were, in Cheng Nuo’s mind, a weapon he could use against Fang Yinnian.
The more handsome Xiao Ji was, the more satisfied Cheng Nuo felt.
But ever since Xiao Ji showed his hand and turned back, Cheng Nuo had started to find Xiao Ji an eyesore.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to find a more suitable candidate to step over Xiao Ji and rise up, but after picking and choosing, he couldn’t find anyone more suitable.
Now that Xiao Ji appeared here and became his competitor, Cheng Nuo’s mindset changed again, and he even felt an anger of being played.
He gritted his teeth, put on a smiling face, and whistled at Xiao Ji:
“Here for the audition?”
Xiao Ji had deliberately parked the car in front of Cheng Nuo. Hearing Cheng Nuo whistle at him, he looked at Cheng Nuo with surprise and greeted him:
“Brother Cheng.”
Cheng Nuo looked Xiao Ji up and down and said sarcastically: “This opportunity probably wasn’t won for you by your manager, right? Progress is good over there.”
Xiao Ji looked innocent: “I don’t know either. Brother Nian only mentioned it once, saying this brand suits me.”
The implication was that he didn’t ask for the audition opportunity; Fang Yinnian actively stuffed it into his hands.
Cheng Nuo felt so stifled he didn’t want to talk. He sneered: “Then I wish you a smooth audition.”
Xiao Ji said politely: “Thank you, Brother Cheng. But since you are here, I suppose I’m just here to join the fun today.”
Cheng Nuo raised his lips: “Don’t put on this superficial act in front of me. Xiao Ji, if you think you’ve got Fang Yinnian wrapped around your finger, you’re too naive. We’ll see.”
