Chapter 123: My Wife is So Adorable When He Shows Weakness
The assessment results for the first month were released. Ye Zhile had dropped to second place, while Zhou Ziyu took first, though the gap between them was small. The main reason was that Ye Zhile had waived his points from the previous interview, leaving him three points behind Zhou Ziyu.
Meanwhile, Lin Xu had surged to third place, a fact he was incredibly smug about. However, looking at the first and second ranks, he still felt a sense of dissatisfaction; Ye Zhile and Zhou Ziyu were both from prominent families, born with silver spoons in their mouths. No matter how much he competed, it felt impossible to bridge that gap.
After the first month of the internship concluded, the company reviewed the performance of all group members. Aside from a few individuals who had been slacking off, the rest were quite diligent and hardworking; Ye Zhile was even singled out for praise.
Hearing this from Rong Laoshi made Ye Zhile incredibly happy.
“I was praised today!” Upon returning home, Ye Zhile acted like an elementary student seeking a reward from Ji Shuohan. “The company said I work hard, and that I’m diligent and dutiful!”
“Is that so? That’s wonderful.” Ji Shuohan set down his documents. “Do you have a break for the Mid-Autumn Festival?”
“I do,” Ye Zhile said. “The company even asked each group to perform for the Mid-Autumn gala they’re organizing, but I declined.”
“Why?” Ji Shuohan asked.
“Because I think it’s more comfortable to just relax during a holiday,” Ye Zhile laughed. Ji Shuohan added, “Then how about I take you somewhere fun?”
“Sounds great!”
On the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival, they returned to the family home for dinner. In the kitchen, the Alphas were busy; for these men who had spent time in the military, cooking was a piece of cake. Ye Junting acted as the head chef while the others assisted him.
In the living room, Xiao Yuanqing played with Dudu while Ye Zhile and Leng Xingtu sat on the sofa watching TV and discussing melodramatic plotlines. Smelling the aroma wafting from the kitchen, Ye Zhile rubbed his stomach. “I’m hungry…”
“Me too,” Leng Xingtu echoed.
They prepared a table full of dishes. Sitting at the dining table, Wen Yumuo raised his glass. “Welcome, Yuanqing and Xingtu, to our home.”
“Thank you, Wen Bofu.”
“Cheers~” Ye Zhile raised his glass of juice to toast with them. Sitting between Wen Yumuo and Ji Shuohan, he ate to his heart’s content.
“How is Lele’s internship going?” Ye Junting asked.
“It’s great! I’m second in the monthly assessment!” Ye Zhile flashed a peace sign.
“Is that so? You’re quite impressive,” Wen Yumuo praised.
Ye Zhile gave a cheeky “Hehe” as Ji Shuohan placed food in his bowl. The table was filled with laughter and joy. After the holiday, everyone went their separate ways.
“Yuanqing, Xingtu, come visit often,” Wen Yumuo and Ye Junting said as they stood at the door to see them off.
Leng Xingtu smiled. “We will, Bofu.”
Xiao Yuanqing nodded with a smile.
Ye Zhile thought Ji Shuohan was going to take him somewhere exciting, but it turned out to be a boxing gym. He looked up at Ji Shuohan, who was helping him put on boxing gloves. “Why did you think of bringing me here?”
“The internship is exhausting; I brought you here to unwind.” Ji Shuohan patted his shoulder. Ye Zhile looked at the gloves. “But I don’t know how to box.”
Ji Shuohan glanced at him and put on his own gloves. “Do you think your Enigma husband is just for show?”
“Fine then…” Ye Zhile bumped his fists together and took the first swing at Ji Shuohan. The strength wasn’t great, but he followed up with several more punches, laughing happily. “This is fun.”
Ji Shuohan held his head to prevent him from attacking. “I haven’t even called ‘start’ yet.”
Ye Zhile stood steady, ready to go. “I’m going to beat you to a pulp!”
“I’ll be waiting.” Ji Shuohan lowered his head slightly and raised his hands. His eyes were like those of a beast lurking in the shadows, and Ye Zhile immediately lost his nerve. “Go easy on me, don’t use too much force.”
Ji Shuohan immediately surrendered. What should one do when their wife becomes incredibly adorable the moment he shows weakness? Naturally, one must submit.
Rather than teaching Ye Zhile how to box, it was more like teaching him how to hit him. Ye Zhile landed punch after punch on Ji Shuohan. Fortunately, the Omega didn’t have much strength, so it didn’t really matter—it just became a playful interaction between lovers.
Ye Zhile was exhausted and sat down on the ring floor. Ji Shuohan brought him water and a towel, but Ye Zhile refused the towel.
“This towel doesn’t shed lint; it won’t be uncomfortable.” Ji Shuohan knew he was afraid of lint sticking to his skin, but this boxing gym was owned by a wealthy family and catered only to VIP members; the supplies were naturally of the highest quality.
“Oh…” Ye Zhile glanced at him as Ji Shuohan wiped his sweat. “Are you hungry?”
“A little,” Ye Zhile said.
“Ye Zhile?”
Ye Zhile looked over and saw Zhou Ziyu walking toward them with another Alpha. The two were likely there to box as well. Ye Zhile waved. “Hi!”
The Alpha beside him stepped forward to greet Ji Shuohan. “Long time no see. I didn’t expect to see Premier Ji here.”
“Long time no see.” Ji Shuohan shook his hand. Zhou Zixuan looked at Ye Zhile. “Is this your spouse?”
Ji Shuohan nodded. “My husband, Ye Zhile.”
“I heard your husband is interning at the same company as my younger brother and doing very well. I hope he can give my brother some advice,” Zhou Zixuan smiled.
Ye Zhile gave a light smile. “We’re all interning together; no one is better than anyone else. I can’t really offer advice, as Classmate Zhou is very outstanding.”
Zhou Ziyu’s lips twitched.
These words were merely a way to show respect to Ye Zhile as the Premier’s spouse, rather than an actual request for advice. Zhou Zixuan, that “smiling tiger,” was satisfied with the answer. “Premier Ji, why don’t the two of us find a place to chat? Let your husband play with my brother; people of the same age should have more to talk about.”
Ji Shuohan looked at Ye Zhile, who nodded. “Go ahead, I’ll stay here.”
“Alright.”
Once Ji Shuohan and Zhou Zixuan left, Zhou Ziyu remarked on how affectionate the couple seemed. “You and the Premier seem to have a very good relationship.”
“Mhm.” Ye Zhile smiled.
“Do you know how to box?” Zhou Ziyu asked him.
Ye Zhile shook his head. “No.”
Zhou Ziyu thought he was being modest. “It’s fine. They can talk, and we can play around a bit.”
Before Ye Zhile could say anything else, Zhou Ziyu had already stepped into the ring. Ye Zhile had no choice but to follow.
“The Military Department signed off on that batch of munitions. If they try to return them now that a problem has surfaced, it would be a huge loss for us.” The Zhou family was in the arms business, and the Empire had always purchased its munitions from them. However, a problem had occurred with the last batch, and now that the Military Department was demanding answers, the Zhou family couldn’t deliver. That was why Zhou Zixuan had hoped to get Ji Shuohan’s help today.
But Ji Shuohan glanced at him and said coldly, “The munitions bought by the Military Department are for the front lines. If your quality is substandard, it’s the soldiers who pay with their lives. Do you think this is a game? You should be thanking the heavens the Military Department hasn’t dealt with the Zhou family yet. And you come to me to plead your case?”
“No, Premier Ji, the Zhou family has been in this business for years. It’s impossible for us to use fake materials. This must be a deliberate setup…” Zhou Zixuan broke into a cold sweat, desperately trying to defend his family. Just then, a cry of alarm came from the boxing ring.
