Chapter 83: Mide
The lights were piercing, and the scent of mint filled the entire room. Ye Zhile felt as if his whole body had entered a cold cavern. He opened his eyes and saw a man wearing a military uniform and cap standing by the floor-to-ceiling window.
“Who are you?” Ye Zhile scrambled to his feet. Then, he quickly looked around and asked frantically, “Where is my child?!”
The person turned around. Under the military cap was a head of blonde hair and eyes as blue as the ocean. He curled his lips into a smile. “Don’t worry. It’s just a small child; I wouldn’t be so cruel as to go that far.”
The man smiled nonchalantly, his narrow eyes fixed on him. “Ye Zhile, the youngest son of Military Minister Ye Junting. Eldest brother Ye Zhijin, second brother Ye Zhichen. Husband to the Empire’s Supreme Leader, Ji Shuohan. Correct?”
“Who exactly are you?” Ye Zhile took several steps back. The man stopped and reassured him, “Don’t be afraid. I won’t hurt you. I just wanted to see what Ji Shuohan’s wife looks like.”
The man placed his hand on his left shoulder and gave a gentlemanly bow. “Allow me to introduce myself. I am Mide, the Second Prince of Rhea Star.”
Ye Zhile froze. This man, speaking the language of the Empire, was actually the Second Prince of Rhea Star. “You… why are you in the Empire?”
Mide found his reaction truly adorable. He sat on the edge of the bed, only for the Omega on the bed to avoid him like the plague, rolling off the other side. Because of the induction of pheromones, he almost fell. Mide frowned. “Oh, I said I won’t hurt you. Don’t be afraid.”
“You know that dog Ji Shuohan has fought his way back to the frontier of Rhea Star again, right?” Mide gave a light “tsk,” his face full of disdain. “He really is tough. Even after that cabin accident, he managed to return unscathed. Why didn’t it just blow him to bits?”
Ye Zhile looked at him guardedly and said, “If you want to use me as a threat, I suggest you save your breath. Ji Shuohan and I are already divorced.”
“I know you’re divorced,” Mide said as he stood up. His wickedly beautiful and exquisite face wore a sinister smile. “I saw it. The Leader’s Department released an announcement regarding your divorce.”
After he finished speaking, he saw Ye Zhile freeze for a moment. He asked in return, “You didn’t know? Tsk tsk, I say, this guy… he wanted a divorce even with such a beautiful wife? Did he injure his brain in the last battle?”
Looking at the mockery in Mide’s eyes, Ye Zhile turned his head away. “What exactly do you want…”
“Shh!” Mide placed a long index finger against his lips. “Listen.”
A flash of madness appeared in his eyes. Ye Zhile’s heart tightened. Immediately after, he heard faint, painful screams coming from outside. Mide smiled. “This entire cruise ship is filled with soldiers from Rhea Star.”
“You’re mistreating the citizens of the Empire; aren’t you afraid that the citizens of Rhea Star will be mistreated in turn?” Ye Zhile looked at him in shock.
However, Mide laughed wantonly. He looked down into the Omega’s moist, refined eyes. The anger within them made him find the youth adorable. He reached out and grabbed him by the waist. “Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you.”
Ye Zhile pushed him away and opened the door to leave. The hallway was a mess, with bloodstains even splashed on the walls. Ye Zhile had never seen such a scene; for a moment, his heart panicked and his legs felt weak. He took out his phone to call Lu Xiaoyu, but the phone showed it was powered off.
“Where is my friend? Where is my child?” Ye Zhile turned back to question him. Mide walked out slowly and lifted his chin. He saw Lu Xiaoyu holding Dudu, with several soldiers pointing guns at his back.
Ye Zhile was scared out of his wits. Abandoning his usual kindness, he said fiercely to Mide, “Try touching the three of us and see what happens! My father will surely turn the entire Rhea Star into ruins!”
Mide raised his hands in mock innocence. “I’ve been wronged. I had no intention of laying a hand on the three of you. Especially you—Minister Ye’s capabilities are still feared by all of Rhea Star. So, you don’t need to be afraid.”
Ye Zhile went over to hold Dudu. Dudu didn’t seem to be frightened; seeing him, the child was even giggling. “Ba… ba…”
Ye Zhile’s eyes stung. Mide gave a look, and a soldier immediately snatched Dudu from Ye Zhile’s arms. Ye Zhile panicked. “Dudu!”
“Don’t worry, we definitely won’t mistreat him.” Mide dragged Ye Zhile to the main hall. In the center of the hall, many tourists were crouching, their faces filled with terror. The Rhea Star soldiers surrounded them. Then, the soldiers also pushed Lu Xiaoyu in to crouch down.
“What are you going to do?” Ye Zhile’s palms were covered in a layer of cold sweat. Looking at those black muzzles and then at the people who couldn’t stop trembling, he felt a wave of lingering fear.
Mide turned his head to look at him. “Your father killed my Imperial Brother. But that guy coveted the throne every day; it’s just as well that he’s dead. However, Ji Shuohan destroyed several of my legions. I have to demand something in return, don’t I?”
Saying this, without giving Ye Zhile a chance to react, Mide raised his hand. With a “bang,” the man next to Lu Xiaoyu fell in a pool of blood.
Screams of terror filled the hall. Ye Zhile watched with wide eyes as the man, who had been laughing and talking in the banquet hall just moments ago, was now gone. He gasped for air, tears welling in his eyes, and questioned sharply, “If you want revenge, find Ji Shuohan! Why did you kill them?!”
“Well, it’s because Ji Shuohan is too hard to kill.” Mide laughed fearlessly. “Since they are under the protection of the entire Military Department and the Leader’s Department, why shouldn’t they pay the debt in their stead?”
He was like someone with the face of an angel but inhabited by a demon, treating human life like grass, showing no regard for it whatsoever.
Mide took a rifle and aimed it at Lu Xiaoyu. “The next one will be your friend.”
“No…” Ye Zhile blocked Lu Xiaoyu, tears streaming down his face. “I beg you, don’t kill them.”
Mide’s gun bypassed him, and he pulled the trigger without hesitation. With a “bang,” the screams were deafening.
“Mide!” Ye Zhile knelt down, sobbing uncontrollably. “I beg you… let them go… Kill me instead! If you want a life for a life, then take mine! I beg you… don’t kill them… please…”
Ye Zhile kowtowed to him, his face covered in tears. Mide gave a light “tsk.” “I say, that guy Ji Shuohan really is lucky… It’s a pity he doesn’t know how to cherish it.”
Mide threw the gun to a soldier nearby and spread his hands. “Fine. Since you’ve begged me so earnestly, I’ll let them go for now.”
Hearing this, Ye Zhile let out a heavy sigh of relief. He slumped onto the floor, and when he turned back to see the two corpses, he wept bitterly.
The entire cruise ship was controlled by Mide. All communications, including mobile phones, were confiscated. Ye Zhile saw everyone being locked in the ship’s cargo hold, while he was locked in a room—he didn’t know which number it was.
