Chapter 5 Proxy of 003 Michael
Five years later.
Li Riyue stared at Dr. Li, who was doing a follow-up examination, watching him check on the blindfolded Lin Qiye. The conversation between the two did not avoid him. As for the rhetoric Lin Qiye used to deal with Dr. Li’s check-up, he didn’t pay it any mind; it was just going through the motions.
After Dr. Li left, Li Riyue squatted to the side, petting Xiao Heilai’s dog head, and spoke.
“A black dog guards the house, while the Tiangou swallows the moon. Are you one that guards the house, or one that swallows the moon?”
Hearing this, Lin Qiye shook his head. He stepped forward, picked up Xiao Heilai, and handed the dog to Yang Jin before replying to Li Riyue’s words.
“If it were one that swallows the moon, it would have swallowed you, Brother Yue. Xiao Heilai is just a little dog my cousin raises. You always talk to him like this, but no matter how smart he is, he still wouldn’t understand your words.”
Yang Jin nodded frantically from the side, and even Xiao Heilai nodded in agreement.
Li Riyue smiled as he watched this scene, and continued.
“You don’t understand, this is my confidence. Your family’s Xiao Heilai is definitely the Tiangou in the sky that can eat the moon. So, Xiao Jin, please shake my hand.”
Yang Jin didn’t understand, and Yang Jin didn’t want to shake hands, but out of politeness, he still grasped the hand.
Seeing Yang Jin shake his hand, Li Riyue turned his gaze toward Xiao Heilai.
“Xiaotian Quan, please shake my hand.”
Both Xiao Heilai and Yang Jin froze, neither making a move. But five seconds later, Xiao Heilai’s dog paw pressed directly onto Li Riyue’s hand.
Watching the spectacle from the side, Lin Qiye shook his head, walked over, and faced Li Riyue.
“Is it my turn now?”
“Yes. Lin Qiye, please shake my hand.”
“Brother Yue, let’s shake hands.”
Lin Qiye placed his hand onto Li Riyue’s hand.
Uncharacteristically, Li Riyue flipped his hand over, placing his palm directly onto the back of Lin Qiye’s hand, and smiled as he shook his head.
“We can’t shake hands, I was just making a joke. By the way, Auntie should be back soon. It just so happens I’m hungry too. I bought a lot of groceries, just waiting to eat Auntie’s cooking.”
Saying this, Li Riyue walked into the kitchen, opened the bags on the floor one by one, took out the pork ribs, and began washing them.
Li Riyue lowered his eyes. He couldn’t shake hands with Lin Qiye. Otherwise, if he obtained the Fanchen Shenyu, and then accidentally absorbed Michael’s miracle, it wouldn’t be just a single city that gets destroyed.
Over these five years, the human ceilings had increased, and the fourth Special Squad had also emerged. His workload had decreased, so he simply stayed in Cangnan, living near the Peace Office. He had a two-bedroom, one-living-room apartment over there arranged by Ye Fan.
If there were no emergencies, they wouldn’t call him. Presumably, the only emergency would be the blood transfusion a year from now.

After a meal, Li Riyue returned to his residence. Just as he was getting ready for bed, he received a call from Zhou Ping.
Li Riyue lay on his stomach on the bed and answered the call.
“Hello, Student Xiao Zhou.”
“Sanjiu asked me to ask you why you haven’t been coming to the shop lately.”
“I’m in Cangnan, running around with Squad 136 every day. It hasn’t been peaceful these past couple of days; the Gushen Jiaohui is getting restless. You should be careful too. If there’s anything you can’t handle, just call me. I’m on call anytime.”
“Do you need my help?”
“If even I can’t solve it, you wouldn’t be able to either. It’s fine, Student Xiao Zhou, just be happy every day. Tell Sanjiu I miss his tomato and egg stir-fry. When I get the chance, I’ll definitely go eat it.”
“Mhm.”
“Remember to rest early, don’t read web novels too late. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
Hanging up the phone, Li Riyue took a shower and fell into dreamland. Tomorrow would be another fierce battle, and the day after tomorrow as well. So busy, so busy.
The next morning, after watching Lin Qiye go to school, he bought a Jianbing Guozi at the school gate and went to the Office. He hadn’t lied to Zhou Ping; he really was very busy recently.
Members of the Gushen Jiaohui were wandering all over Cangnan. He was simultaneously cleaning out the Gushen Jiaohui members and helping deal with mystics. The recovered corpses also had to be brought to Ye Fan to exchange for money.
The days were busy yet ordinary, dull and tedious.
After a whole day, his waist and legs ached. Other human ceilings were either programmers, food delivery drivers, waitstaff, or teachers. But when it came to him, he was just killing mystics for cash, and he also had to hunt down Gushen Jiaohui members to prevent them from running into Lin Qiye ahead of time.
Occasionally, he would go tease Yang Jin. After all, he was a god, no matter how you looked at it.
If gods wouldn’t disappear, then did that mean if he reached the Divine Realm, he wouldn’t be erased by the Shipo Yuan either?

This let him know that Zhao Kongcheng’s ability wasn’t activated by relying on the Guishen Yin, but was just a matter of time. Even without using the Guishen Yin, once the time came, Zhao Kongcheng would still be able to obtain a Jinxu. He merely needed an opportunity, and that opportunity was the terminal lucidity that burst forth when a person reached their absolute limits.
Li Riyue used a strike of Minsheng Shanyue to finish off the Guimian Ren, watching the barrier rising into the sky.
He walked in Zhao Kongcheng’s direction, feeling a pack of Huanghelou cigarettes in his hand. He lit one for himself. This was the most expensive pack he had bought near the Peace Office, fifty yuan a pack.
Zhao Kongcheng, holding his Xingchen Dao, was just preparing to go help out when he saw Li Riyue walk over and offer him a cigarette. Seeing the brand, he decisively took it and lit it up.
“Why are you here? Are they all dealt with?”
“I’ve dealt with everything on my side. The numbers were quite high, it should be the Gushen Jiaohui releasing them again. We really gave them too much face.”
“Let’s go, we should go help the Captain and the others.”
At this moment, Wu Xiangnan’s voice rang out in their earpieces, saying that two Guimian Ren had run over to the old district.
Hearing this, the two immediately sprinted towards the old district. But before long, a beam of golden light burst forth, illuminating the entire area.
The two instantly sped up their pace. Zhao Kongcheng took a final drag of his cigarette, tossed it on the ground, looked at the golden light, and spoke.

Wu Xiangnan’s voice transmitted from the earpiece. Zhao Kongcheng’s speed instantly increased. This was a Divine Proxy, how could they let the Gushen Jiaohui get to him first!
Li Riyue, however, slowed down. But the two were too close; turning a corner, Zhao Kongcheng saw Lin Qiye descending from the pillar of light.
Lin Qiye was still immersed in the joy of being able to open his eyes. Seeing Li Riyue standing beside Zhao Kongcheng, he was just about to speak when he saw Li Riyue trying to hide the blood-stained blade in his hand.
The most unacceptable thing for a person is finding out that someone you thought you were very familiar with actually has another side to them, a side that is completely unfamiliar to you.

- Tiangou (天狗) / Xiaotian Quan (哮天犬): The Tiangou is a mythological “Heavenly Dog” known for eating the moon during an eclipse. Xiaotian Quan is a specific mythological dog belonging to the god Erlang Shen (who Yang Jin is the reincarnation of). Li Riyue is joking about the dog’s hidden divine identity!
- Sanjiu (三舅): Translates to Third Uncle.
- Guimian Ren (鬼面人): Ghost-Faced Men. The corrupted monsters they are currently hunting.
- Minsheng Shanyue (泯生閃月): Annihilating Moon Flash / Annihilation Flashing Moon. This is the incredibly cool Jinxu ability Li Riyue copied from Zhao Kongcheng.
- Huanghelou (黃鶴樓): A very famous and premium brand of Chinese cigarettes, named after the Yellow Crane Tower.
