I Raised a Cub in the Military Academy Chapter 39.1

Chapter 39: Testing the Source Weapon part 1

12:00 PM.

The spaceship Yun Yinghui was on arrived at the station.

Yun Yingzhi’s eyes sparkled as he stared at the exit, waiting for his brother.

Yun Yingzhi’s group was composed of handsome men and beautiful women. Among them, Nan Gongqing, the son of the Minister of Finance, was highly recognizable and frequently drew sideways glances. However, even so, the person receiving the most attention in their group was Yun Yingzhi.

From time to time, people would look at Yun Yingzhi, guessing his identity and remarking on how incredibly good-looking he was.

Shortly after, Yun Yinghui walked out through a special passage.

This was the first time Yun Yingzhi and Yun Yinghui had reunited in over a year.

Overwhelmed with joy, Yun Yingzhi threw down the bag containing the twenty source weapons and charged toward his brother.

Nan Gongqing and the others were stunned, their gazes instinctively shifting to the bag Yun Yingzhi had discarded.

Half of the items rolled out of the black bag—they were all identical-sized gift boxes.

The beautiful woman in the group, Jia Qingwan, asked, “What did Yingzhi drop?”

Nan Gongqing paused, then said, “It probably isn’t anything important, right?”

“He bought so many, and they’re all identical. They must be gifts he prepared for others,” Jin Taichu said as he picked up the gift boxes one by one and put them back into the bag.

At this moment, they all shared the same thought: the things in the bag definitely weren’t anything valuable.

They turned their gaze back toward Yun Yinghui.

From a short distance away, they saw Yun Yingzhi jumping onto Yun Yinghui like an eight-legged octopus.

Yun Yinghui caught him and said softly, “Zhi-zhi, you’re already this big, yet you’re still so clingy?”

Yun Yingzhi clung to Yun Yinghui, nuzzling his left cheek, then his right.

The interaction between the two brothers looked exceptionally intimate.

Jin Taichu said with a hint of jealousy, “I also watched Yingzhi grow up, but he’s only close with Yinghui.”

Jia Qingwan rolled her eyes and said, “Of course. You guys might not know this, but when Yingzhi was very small, he used to call Yinghui ‘Mama,’ and Yinghui would actually respond.”

The group froze, looking at Jia Qingwan in confusion, then at the seemingly serious and upright Yun Yinghui.

Jia Qingwan added, “If you could act as both a mother and a father for Yingzhi, he’d definitely be this close to you too.”

Nan Gongqing and the others thought that while this might not be difficult for them now, back when they were still young and hadn’t matured years ago, they definitely would have declined being a “male mother” or a “female father.”

Thinking about it this way, they felt that Yun Yinghui had sacrificed too much for Yun Yingzhi.

While talking, the group joined the affectionate brothers.

Yun Yingzhi nuzzled his brother’s cheek once more before reluctantly sliding down.

After Yun Yinghui greeted his companions, the group boarded a large hovercar.

There were many seats inside. Yun Yingzhi sat right next to Yun Yinghui, looking exactly like his brother’s little tail.

Yun Yinghui gently stroked Yun Yingzhi’s hair.

It was exactly lunchtime, so the group decided to head to a hotel for a meal first.

On the way, Yun Yinghui and Nan Gongqing’s group talked about the battles on the front lines. Yun Yingzhi listened quietly until, suddenly…

Remembering the gifts he was going to give his brother, Yun Yingzhi nudged him.

Yun Yinghui looked at him, ruffled his hair again, and met his eyes. “What is it?”

Happy bubbles seemed to surround Yun Yingzhi. His upturned face practically had the words “Praise me quickly” written all over it as he said, “Brother, the gift I promised you!”

Yun Yinghui: “Hmm?”

Yun Yingzhi held up two fingers, looking very proud. “It’s twenty source weapons!” He tilted his chin up slightly. “There will be even more in the future!” He was just waiting to pull more wool during the qualifying round of the Star Brilliance Competition.

The corners of Yun Yinghui’s mouth curved. “Alright, I’m looking forward to it.”

Yun Yingzhi: “Brother, hurry and look, the ones I’m giving you…” He stopped mid-sentence. His eyelids jumped, and his body swayed.

On the high-speed aerial lane, Yun Yinghui supported him, his gaze full of worry.

Seeing Yun Yingzhi sway, Nan Gongqing and the others looked at him with hearts full of sympathy. This was the little rabbit cub in their memories—always weak and helpless.

Yun Yingzhi looked at his brother, then at his empty hands. With a soulless expression, he said, “…Brother, they’re gone.” His voice sounded like he was about to cry.

Everyone looked at him with concern, completely unsure of what had happened.

Yun Yinghui asked, “What’s gone?”

Yun Yingzhi: “The gifts. The gifts I was going to give you, they’re suddenly gone.”

Jin Taichu thought of the bag Yun Yingzhi had tossed aside when he first saw his brother. He opened his mouth to tell him that he had picked it up.

However, before he could speak, he heard Yun Yingzhi say with a face full of sorrow, “Brother, because they were for you, I even bought the most expensive gift boxes.”

Jin Taichu swallowed his words.

The most expensive gift boxes.

Recalling the ordinary-looking boxes in the bag he had picked up, he assumed Yun Yingzhi wasn’t talking about that bag.

Like Jin Taichu, everyone else shared the same thought.

Yun Yinghui comforted him softly, “Zhi-zhi, think carefully. Where did you put them?”

Jia Qingwan said tentatively, “Yingzhi, was it a black bag with many identical…”

Yun Yingzhi’s eyes lit up, and he looked at Jia Qingwan expectantly.

Considering the “most expensive gift boxes” emphasis, Jia Qingwan paused, swallowed the word “cheap” that was on the tip of her tongue, and continued, “…gift boxes? Is it that one?” She pointed toward Jin Taichu.

Yun Yingzhi looked over and immediately saw the black bag in Jin Taichu’s hand.

“Yingzhi, you threw the bag away earlier. Taichu picked it up,” Nan Gongqing explained.

Jin Taichu handed the bag to Yun Yingzhi.

At this, Nan Gongqing and the others thought to themselves that Madame Yun and General Yun really didn’t give Yun Yingzhi much allowance, leading the boy to call even the cheapest gift boxes “the most expensive.”

Though they were cheap, it was likely the most valuable gift Yun Yingzhi could offer right now.

Their gazes toward him became even more pitying.

Yun Yingzhi thanked Jin Taichu and, with the attitude of presenting a precious treasure, handed the black bag to Yun Yinghui.

Yun Yinghui took it and said softly, “Thank you, Zhi-zhi. I like it very much.”

Nan Gongqing and the others were curious about what he had given his brother, but gifts weren’t suitable to be opened in public.

The group continued their previous conversation.

Eventually, they brought up this year’s Star Brilliance Competition.

If source weapon masters could produce more high-quality weapons, like “Star” did, then the warriors on the front lines would have a much easier time.

Hearing the name “Star,” Yun Yingzhi felt a bit happy, knowing they were talking about the pseudonym Master Alvin had given him.

He then remembered that the Grade Four weapon he had randomly manufactured had actually broken through the ranks and was selected as one of the ten weapons for tomorrow’s live appraisal.

Just as Yun Yingzhi was about to mention this and ask Jin Taichu for help with the appraisal, Nan Gongqing spoke up first. “Yinghui, you said earlier that A13167 is your brother. Which brother is it?”

Yun Yinghui: “…”

He silently turned his gaze toward Yun Yingzhi.

Nan Gongqing’s group froze. Their gazes shifted to Yun Yingzhi, their thoughts perfectly synchronized.

They thought: No way?

It couldn’t be?

Impossible, right?

Thinking back to the live stream, they remembered that person had a very strong constitution—a completely different person from the Yun Yingzhi in their memories.

Furthermore, through the grapevine, they had heard that Participant A13167 was a sharp-tongued person who glared at anyone who looked too closely, had a terrible temper, and would immediately snap back at anyone who said a word against him.

No, how could a person like that be the fragile little white rabbit they remembered?

Just as they were thinking this, Yun Yingzhi’s cheeks flushed slightly. He lowered his voice and said with a shy, bashful expression, “Father and Mother don’t like source weapons. Whenever I make one, they get very angry. So I hid it from them and secretly participated in the Star Brilliance Competition.”
