I Raised a Cub in the Military Academy Chapter 41.2

Part 2

Yun Yingzhi fell into deep thought.

After the two little cubs were born, would he really be able to go to school properly?

Thinking about it again, compared to a human-form cub, a rabbit-form cub should be as well-behaved as he was when he was little, so it should be easy to raise, right? As for the other egg-form cub, he didn’t even know when it would hatch.

One little rabbit and one little egg—they probably wouldn’t affect him much, right? At least they wouldn’t affect his early life.

With this in mind, Yun Yingzhi decided to bring the incubator, formula, bottles, diapers, and everything else back to Fanse Academy.

On the way, he remembered that Fanse Academy would be on break at the end of December for a two-month holiday. Plus, he had to go home for the monthly open day.

Thinking this, Yun Yingzhi bought an identical set of supplies and secretly sent them back to the Yun family home.

He had two children now, and even now, he didn’t know how to tell Madam Yun and General Yun. He didn’t have the courage to tell the truth, so he could only take it one step at a time.

The only saving grace in this misfortune was that Yun Yinghui was by his side.

After Yun Yingzhi secretly moved the infant supplies into his room, he informed the housekeeper and returned to Fanse Academy.

The students of Fanse Academy were still heatedly discussing the “Red Peony guy.” Countless Combat Department students even went to camp out at the Source Weapon Manufacturing Department, hoping to identify the Red Peony guy’s true identity so they could commission a Source Weapon from him.

Yun Yingzhi returned to the dormitory with light steps. His three roommates were all there.

Yun Yingzhi greeted them and began arranging the daily necessities he had bought on his bedside and desk.

Yu Feiwen and the others looked at Yun Yingzhi with confused expressions.

Ji Xiaobo asked, “Yingzhi, why did you buy an incubator?”

Yun Yingzhi’s eyelids twitched. After a pause, he said, “I want to hatch a little egg in a few days.”

Jing Haomiao asked, “You also bought a cage?”

Yun Yingzhi said, “It’s not a cage. Look, there’s no lid on top; it just has railings on four sides.” It was actually a miniature version of a baby crib.

Yu Feiwen asked, “Are you planning to raise a small pet?”

Yun Yingzhi blinked. Having absolutely no experience in raising cubs, he had just bought whatever he saw. Hearing Yu Feiwen’s question, he paused and said, “I want to raise… a little rabbit.” He couldn’t exactly say he was going to give birth to one in a few days. He added, “A newborn one.”

According to the doctor, a cub born in its second form would take at least eight or nine months before it could transform into human form.

Yu Feiwen said, “If a newborn rabbit leaves its mother, it’s very hard to keep alive. Can you do it?”

Yun Yingzhi: “…”

Yun Yingzhi originally thought he could, but hearing Yu Feiwen’s question, he suddenly felt like he might not be able to.

Newborn cubs were truly fragile. A slight oversight could lead to an accident. Especially since his two cubs were a rabbit and an egg—they were much weaker than other cubs.

Thinking about it… it was fine, he had his brother.

His brother had been both a father and a mother to him since he was young; there was nothing his brother couldn’t do.

Yun “Full of Confidence because of Brother” Yingzhi nodded seriously and said, “I think I can.”

Ji Xiaobo said, “We’ll help you when the time comes.”

As the three of them spoke, they looked at the incubator, then at the small pet bed, and then at the “new father.” They subtly felt that Yun Yingzhi might not be up to the task.

In the afternoon, Yun Yingzhi received a communication from the Xingyao Competition organizers.

According to the competition rules, the organizers would handle the auction for every Source Weapon made during the matches. They were asking Yun Yingzhi if he wanted to auction his.

Happy little bubbles popped up around Yun Yingzhi, and he immediately agreed.

The organizers informed Yun Yingzhi that the ten Source Weapons would be appraised over three days, and the online and offline synchronized auction would begin on December 18th. If he was interested, he could watch in person.

Not long after the call ended, Yun Yingzhi received a private message from Yun Yinghui.

Yun Yinghui informed Yun Yingzhi that he had already tested the skill effects of the twenty Source Weapons made for him, and he liked them very much.

After a pause, Yun Yinghui added, “Zhizhi.”

Yun Yingzhi’s eyes curved into crescents, and he covered his mouth with one hand as if snickering.

Seeing Yun Yingzhi like this, Yun Yinghui’s gaze became even more tender. He said, “Zhizhi, I am shocked.”

Yun Yingzhi was stunned and asked in confusion, “Shocked? Why?”

Yun Yinghui: “Before testing these Source Weapons, I never imagined their effects would be so powerful.”

Yun Yingzhi tilted his little chin slightly. “I’ll make even more Source Weapons for Brother in the future!”

Yun Yinghui nodded gently and said, “Zhizhi, do you know how special the spatial-restricted Source Weapon you made is?”

Yun Yingzhi nodded, then shook his head.

Yun Yinghui explained, “Before you, the Empire has always been researching how to block the connection between the Zerg Queen and the Zerg legions. Zhizhi, every place you see, and even more places you don’t see—there could be a Zerg in any corner. They are the Queen’s eyes; through them, she is omniscient.”

Yun Yingzhi blinked. He wasn’t very clear on those details.

Yun Yinghui continued: “And this Source Weapon you made—if the inscription’s range were expanded to cover an entire Life Planet, it could sever the connection between the Queen and all Zerg on that planet. Do you understand its importance now?”

Yun Yingzhi nodded, suddenly realizing that the inscription he had researched on a whim was even more formidable than he had imagined.

Yun Yinghui: “Zhizhi, thank you for the gift.” He added, “And even more, thank you for all the Source Weapons you’ve researched as Xingchen over the years.”

“Brother, I’m glad you like them, but I think I should clarify something,” Yun Yingzhi said.

Yun Yinghui: “Hmm?”

Yun Yingzhi said with a serious face, “In the past, now, and in the future—the reason I work so hard is that Brother is a soldier. I want to help Brother!”

Yun Yingzhi’s meaning was very clear: he did this for only one reason, and that was for Yun Yinghui—for him alone.

Yun Yinghui’s eyelashes trembled. He looked at Yun Yingzhi on the other end of the screen and thought, This is my favorite younger brother.

He doted on him, and the doted-on brother had always been trying to repay him in his own way.

The two talked for a bit longer before Yun Yinghui said, “Zhizhi, I hope you can keep this skill effect a secret for now. Don’t tell anyone else.”

Yun Yingzhi nodded, not thinking it was a big deal.

“Zhizhi, the military also has a request.”

Yun Yingzhi looked confused. “What is it?”

“The military hopes you can hand over the inscription method for the spatial-restricted ability. The Inscription Research Institute wants to optimize it.”

Yun Yingzhi’s first reaction was to agree, but as the words reached his lips, he blinked his large, obsidian-black eyes and looked at Yun Yinghui expectantly.

Yun Yinghui: “Hmm?”

Yun Yingzhi’s cheeks flushed slightly. “Brother, I can agree to what you said. And, according to what you said, I can even help with the inscriptions together.” As he spoke, he held up one finger. “But, I think I might have one small—really, a tiny—request.” At this point, his cheeks grew even redder.

Yun Yinghui’s eyelids twitched, giving him a subtle, bad premonition. He asked, “What is it?”

Yun Yingzhi suddenly cried out, “Dada!”

“…” Yun Yinghui knew Yun Yingzhi too well. He understood that this “Dada” wasn’t directed at General Yun, but at him.

Yun Yinghui thought about how it had been a long time since Yun Yingzhi had called him that since growing up. He replied, “…Be good.” His eyelids twitched again.

Yun Yingzhi fanned his large eyes, looking exceptionally beautiful. “Mama!”

Yun Yinghui: “…”

Yun Yinghui paused, then said, “Zhizhi, you’re not a child anymore.”

Yun Yingzhi’s body swayed, his face filled with despair as if he were a fragile thing about to collapse at any moment.

The corner of Yun Yinghui’s mouth twitched. He said, “Zhizhi, be good.”

Yun Yingzhi immediately stood firm and looked at Yun Yinghui expectantly. “It’s like this, Brother. I feel like I might not be able to take good care of two babies by myself.”
